Thanks Dave....i knew i could count on you to help...lol. -
Yeah...we kept some from the Lac Seul trip.....fishfry this Saturday ..........but all the rest from my second trip out were catch and release, the lake is relatively small and the fish mostly huge so i like to put them back.

Hi all, Couple of outings this weekend, one to Lac Seul and one to a lake in town. Went to LS with my neighbour Bob while he can still sit comfortably in a boat (surgery next week), and one outing by myself to a lake in town at the crack of dawn. Both went well, lots of big fish both outings. Fish were at the 22' - 30' FOW range on both lakes, the fish on LS in particular showing signs of the fall feedbag football shape. Jigs and minnows....BIG MINNOWS. Both days windy......water temps have dropped 15 degrees in as many days. We caught a few Bass at LS....they too were deep. LAC SEUL THUNDER SOME PICS FROM BOTH OUTINGS

20' to 45' FOW . I am not too familiar with that area of the lake, its a BIG LAKE, but as a general rule for myself, at this time of year for walleye, those are the depths i concentrate on and do very well at in other areas of Lac Seul. I am heading out to Lac Seul in about 1 hour so will post a report with depths locations etc this evening. Mid water humps, Rock to soft bottom and deeper sandbar areas have all been good, but for me the depth factor seems to be the most important common denominator. Some wicked good fishing this time of year......your wife got you a pretty awesome gift!

Fantastic outing...thanks for sharing. I have no idea what a TYEE is though....lol

Only time you are gonna need 40# for lakers on open water is if you intend lifting the thing into the boat without a net.

Braid is a good idea for deep fishing lakers.....get a better hook set (i.e. no stretch), like Drifter said....use a flouro leader of at least 3 foot. I like using micro swivels instead of line to line to reduce twist....but thats just me.

Nah...not a guide, 2 older gents (or not so gentlemanly as the case showed). I thought about calling the camp......but they know this happens already....just needed to vent

Hi all, Had a great few hours out on scout Bay (lac Seul). At one point though a camp boat...i am tempted to name the camp but that probably aint fair....comes right up and sits right in our swim between my buddy's and our boat, he starts to drift towards our marker bouy and is just about to go over it when i shout over that he needs to back off because he is about to run over it. He looks over the side of our boat, and looks at his buddy who shouts out...."its ok, we dont have any lines in", and continues to float right over our marker bouy..dragging at least another 15' of line off it before it disappeared under his boat and popped up on the other side. I was stunned into silence......

Thanks for the replies! No skis seen, not sure if the area i was in even has them, i am in the central and south part of Lac Seul, from what i hear , muskies are further east in the Sioux lookout area and north of there.

Hi all, Got out on Monday with my new neighbour Bob , his son in law Chad and grandson Jordan. Chad and Jordan were up from down south and were really excited about the chance to fish Lac Seul......it did not disappoint. The boys scoffed a bit at the size of minnows i revealed to them the morning we were headed out....but after only thirty seconds fishing when i hauled in a 28"er......no longer were 5-6" sucker and dace minnows ridiculed....they were embraced wholeheartedly as the pickerel waltz ensued! Things got off to a slow start, but the fish were all slot (18"-21") and above up to 28". This gave us the chance to tour a few of my hotspots and take in the scenery on a beautiful day. We got into some smaller ones midway through our 4 hours on the water which filled the cooler nicely. We decided to return to the first spot we tried as that had produced the best results. Just as we got there the wind picked up enough to get quite a chop on the surface....this sent the big girls into feeding mode and for an hour we got 20"+ walleye non stop....right up to another 30" for Jordan on his maiden voyage to Lac Seul.......WHAT A GREAT FISHERY IT IS! All fishing done with 3/8 - 1/2 Oz jigs in various colours in 20'- 45' FOW on or near rock structure. Here is some footage of some of the fish we caught....not easy to film with 4 in the boat...lots to watch...lol. Might be getting out to lac suel again on Sunday in someone elses boat....will post if it happens......till then TIGHT LINES.

Hi all, went fishing with a really good buddy for the first time in over a year....we had an absolute blast...we actually had tears running down our faces at times we laughed so hard. Was windier than hell, but we put a beating on the walleye all morning and got off the lake (Lac Seul) by 1pm. Nothing fancy, jigs and minnows in 22'FOW. I got my personal best Lac Seul walleye of just over 30".

Hi all, Went out with my boy for 2 hours last night. He will fish for about 5 minutes usually then he's done....lol....lucky for me he just loves being in the boat. Last night i find out he is not only excellent company but an accomplished net man too! We got about a hundred jackfish before the walleye started to bite( slight exaggeration....but lots anyway), then hooked 3 beauty walleye and lost a few more. small 1/8th oz jig with large minnows, they did not seem to want to touch the leeches.....but jack was all over them.....lol....mum is going to freak when she sees the video.....she hates them! NET MAN JACK (change setting to HD in Youtube) Jack told me he wants to go fishing again today....LOVE MY BOY! fish fry for us for lunch and if we get some today.....a fish fry for all at work on Sunday.....thats the way to grease the wheels Tight lines all, Simon.
