1. HERE'S MINE Ok, i got it stuck...but should not have backed into the water so much...especially with 'all season' tires. Mind you it got back up a steep 1km mud track with my 16' boat and trailer. I bought the 2007 Canyon SLE (Off - Road) 4 X 4 crew cab.....i love it. Does 31 miles Highway...pretty good, sucks on gas in town though. Inside is a bit plastic, not very plush finish. Everyone who has been in it does not have a bad word to say either really.. I cant really say much more than that as i have never driven the Dodge. But the straight 5 cylinder has tons of power, ive had a snowmachine in the box, and one on a trailer at the same time....got down many logging roads like that last winter no problems....was like there was nothing there. Its a bit slidy as its so light, wish i had got the hard tonneau cover to add weight to the back, but now with studded winter tires it handles like a dream on the snow and ice when in 4 wheel drive. Tires are not a standard size apparently. They are 15", which means when i went to put on the winter tires, it was difficult to get hold of 15"rims....other than going to GMC $$$$$$$$$, so just put the winter tires on the existing factory fitted rims. The passenger seats are a bit hard, but lots of room in the back. Took my mum and dad from Toronto , through Michigan and upto Dryden NW Ontario...a 1800km trip, they're old and rickety but had no complaints . Iv'e put her through some stuff( as the pic shows) and no problems so far. I aint gonna say what i paid....lol...makes me wince even now....especially since they are probably giving them away now....if only i waited 18 months!!!!! Got 0% finance, 5 year or 150,000, 3 years of that is bumper to bumper warranty....just hope they dont go under and i lose the warranty. Hope this helps...... Here's a few more pics of my baby in action <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">
2. Hey Guys, we're getting there!!! So far we've got Brkygetr, BenBeattie and Rickster from OFC. I've also been enlisting from an Ice Fishing forum i visit and there are another 5 guys who say definitely coming as far as possible, and 2 more maybes. So as it stands we have a possible 11 signed up including lil' ole me. I know some of my buddies want to come who are not members of either forums, so thats another 3 or 4. Guess we should start thinking about venues etc pretty soon.
3. Great report(again) Iceslayer. Nice size crappie. I'd go night fishing too.....cept ts like -35 or -40 at night here....Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Thanks for sharing. simon
4. Thanks for all the replies guys, i've been trying to smile through this little episode today, and i really appreciate all the comments. Its helped me to put in perspective.....i think the fact as so many of you point out is that the guy probably didn't even know. The guys at the shop said the machine was by no means "beat up"....nor did it look abused....they said it simply was not maintained. I'm gonna suck up the cost, and if the guy i bought it from goes half or even a third of repairs with me...i'll have a good sled, in good condition, that if i sold next year i could make a profit on...as i got it at a good price. Not that i'm gonna sell it. Anyway...just one of lifes little trials...had 'em before (way worse) will have 'em again...just gratefull this forum was here to vent a bit when igot the call from the garage Cheers all, Just finished packing up my gear for whitefish tomorrow, borrowing my uncles sled....hopefully my buddy Glen doesn't cancel on me...... Will post a report tomorrow evening ONCE AGAIN ...THANKS ALL
5. Hi Y'all. well...what can i say...wish i was a mechanic. Picked up a second hand sled 2 weeks ago from a guy i know and have fished with, looked in good condition, drove it home even. Guy told me it was mechanically sound.....thats untill i just received the call from the shop where i was getting it serviced. So far....(and i dont even know what this all means other than MUCHO $$$$$$$$ approximately $1000 in parts alone is the quote so far) 1. Both suspension shot to pieces 2. Rear torque bolts broken, shaft damaged. 3. New chain needed 4. Reverse gear completely chewed up, probably whole thing needs replacing The guy at the shop stopped there and told me to come in...glad he did, i almost passed out....NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY! OH well....cant cry...gotta try and smile, at least my uncle is lending me his sled for tomorrows trip to Shoal Lake, its gonna be hard not to think about this out there though...lol....damn i hate being ripped off!!!!! to think i helped this guy pre-fish a tournament in the fall...he must've known it wa a piece of crap all the talk, of stored inside, wife and kids ride LOL...sorry...beginning to rant...i'll end it there.
6. Great stuff Bassain.....pike are always fun through the ice ...heck...they're always fun period! Thats a real buzz when you discover a species you never even knew was in there...nice one. And yeah...looks cold.....been cold here too...but warming up soon. Thanks for posting.
7. Hey Phil, The fishfinder is the Lowrance X67C. An awesome little bit o gear....i use it on my boat in the summer too. You can buy it as an Ice fishing pack...but i just bought a battery and "iceducer seperately and save over $100. I just took the mounting bracket off the boat.....attached it to a short pice of wood siding i had lying about...and put it in an old soft sided cooler. It has a LCD flasher mode too if flashers are your prefered fishfinder...and despite what some peple say the screen does not freeze in minus temps......it was outside the hut today as temps started dropping below -25 C. Heres a clip of it in graph mode i made a few weeks back...great fun. AND I SHOULD BE GETTING PAID BY LOWRANCE AND OTTER TEAM WILD!!!!!
8. I need a job like that......i think i have the right qualifications....lol. Nice fish!
9. I took it out today for the first time, WOW....what a difference. It was -25 celcius when we arrived....although nice and sunny. But the difference between outside and inside was like two different universes, really noticed the difference...and we didn't even have a heater!!! And being mostly black it really soaked up the sun too. This is not a sled for towing by hand though...holy crappolla is it heavy!!! My snowmachine is in for a service so me and my buddy pulled it out by hand...ok going DOWN to the lake....but coming UP was a real chore....i'm a little worried now as to whether even my snowmachine will manange...time will tell. What i really loved was how easy it was to deploy and take down....litteraly 30seconds, just whip the elasticated cover off, all your gear is easy to get to and it just pulls up and clicks into place as you go.....so Run 'N'Gun style fishing will be a breeze!!! NO PROBLEM GETTING DOWN TO THE LAKE....BUT ITS A HEAVY BEAST...DEFINITELY A SNOWMOBILE OR ATV NEEDED. THE BLACK MATERIAL REALLY SOAKED UP THE SUN'S HEAT, LOL ...AND DAVE IS ALSO 6'4" AND 250lbs....SO MAKES IT LOOK SMALL!!! PLENTY OF ROOM INSIDE, AND WINDOWS ALL ROUND It kinda sucked that we only caught small perch today.....but that lake is normally pretty good
10. Excellent Rickster! looking forward to our earlier trip just after Xmas, i'll be working on xmas day and Boxing day, so we might wanna sort out the details before then. Cheers mate Simon.
11. Welcome to the board...your right...it relly is a great place to hang out! Look forward to your reports. Limey
12. Welcome to the board. Lots of pics please.
13. Had to be worth a try Irish...lol...that would have clinched it for us...lol CONGRATS TO TEAM EXTREME!!!!
14. Hey Dale, Your thinking exactly the same thing i was just 10 minutes ago...your way ahead of me! a weekend would be great hey...like you said more species could be covered. I was thinking of letting this recruitment/sign up thread run until start of next week, then go with how many we have then , see where the majority are located/ do a vote for species preferred/ something like that to determine how this meet up will take place etc. Of course anyone can still sign up to come along after next week, but i think by then most of the NWO Members would be signed up...there's not that many of us it seems:unsure: sound good? please wade in with all suggestions as we go though, i'm gonna need help workin this all out. Cheers Simon.
15. Aaaaah...gotcha too HD, was kinda wonderin' about a trip all the way for a days fishing, but yeah...an opener up here would be fun, Joey jokingly suggested it, could be one for the future me thinks.....we are on 9 acres here by the lake...so plenty of room for campers/tents!!!! Hold that thought HD!!!
16. Wow! Awesome Highdrifter. Would be great to ge ya ya up here. The whole thing is early days yet.....watch this space and i'll update regularly...would like to go before february though, might be a March long weekend though to accomodate those who arent local though...who knows...we'll get a few more in numbers nd go from there. Hey Dale, did i PM you...sorry if i didn't, you were definitely on the list , couldn't imagine you'd pass this up, great to have ya onboard!
17. Hey all, Thanks for the replies so far. The intention of this is not to be as big as lakair...or even like it actually, really wanted to meet and put faces to NWO members.....SO COME ON WHERE ARE YA!
18. hey TennesseeGuy, that would be cool, i'll put our order in now!
19. LOL....sounds like a great day out! Never a bad idea to go fishing in my book....lol...until like you you get there and the elements suggest otherwise. I went to go shore fishing last november....only to find the shore locked up with thin ice upto 30 yards out, tried casting but didn't like the line lying across the ice...hard to tell if ya had a bite...lol...so in the end my wife and i were throwing rocks out to make holes and trying to aim the cast down the holes...this lasted for 1/2 hour before we called it quits! gotta give ya 10/10 for trying:thumbsup_anim:
20. what a blast! On light tackle that must've been fun did ya eat it?
21. Hey Sinker, its a good days drive if you try and do it in one haul...but i did that once....best to do it in 2 days. I'm heading out on saturday for whities, i'll post a report. Will be doing a lot more whitie fishing after january as most of the whitie lakes are trout lakes...trout not open till Jan1st....just avoids any hassles and harm to fish out of season...as you will always get trout while fishing whities.
22. LOL..i dont think Glen would come...he'd have to wear at least a T-Shirt....lol
23. Hi Y'all. I see all these great Lakair and other similar get togethers happening but they all seem to be way south of us up here. I would really like to arrange something like that for the NWO contingent of OFC, thats not to say all are not welcome I have been in contact with around 4 members already from the area....1 definitely up for it, waiting replies from others, but if your interested please reply to this post so we can start the list and work on the where, who, when...lol why.....of it all. There are some NWO members of an ice fishing forum i frequent already interested so we could have around 10 people already once yo include family, friends and pets...lol Look forward to lots of replies hopefully, but even a few would be fun. Thanks Simon
24. Top stuff!!!! whats a bit of rain huh? and a feed of perch too! Nice size perch too. Congrats thanks for the report. Simon
