  1. Welcome to the board. Lots of pics please.
  2. Had to be worth a try Irish...lol...that would have clinched it for us...lol CONGRATS TO TEAM EXTREME!!!!
  3. Hey Dale, Your thinking exactly the same thing i was just 10 minutes ago...your way ahead of me! a weekend would be great hey...like you said more species could be covered. I was thinking of letting this recruitment/sign up thread run until start of next week, then go with how many we have then , see where the majority are located/ do a vote for species preferred/ something like that to determine how this meet up will take place etc. Of course anyone can still sign up to come along after next week, but i think by then most of the NWO Members would be signed up...there's not that many of us it seems:unsure: sound good? please wade in with all suggestions as we go though, i'm gonna need help workin this all out. Cheers Simon.
  4. Aaaaah...gotcha too HD, was kinda wonderin' about a trip all the way for a days fishing, but yeah...an opener up here would be fun, Joey jokingly suggested it, could be one for the future me thinks.....we are on 9 acres here by the lake...so plenty of room for campers/tents!!!! Hold that thought HD!!!
  5. Wow! Awesome Highdrifter. Would be great to ge ya ya up here. The whole thing is early days yet.....watch this space and i'll update regularly...would like to go before february though, might be a March long weekend though to accomodate those who arent local though...who knows...we'll get a few more in numbers nd go from there. Hey Dale, did i PM you...sorry if i didn't, you were definitely on the list , couldn't imagine you'd pass this up, great to have ya onboard!
  6. Hey all, Thanks for the replies so far. The intention of this is not to be as big as lakair...or even like it actually, really wanted to meet and put faces to NWO members.....SO COME ON WHERE ARE YA!
  7. hey TennesseeGuy, that would be cool, i'll put our order in now!
  8. LOL....sounds like a great day out! Never a bad idea to go fishing in my book....lol...until like you you get there and the elements suggest otherwise. I went to go shore fishing last november....only to find the shore locked up with thin ice upto 30 yards out, tried casting but didn't like the line lying across the ice...hard to tell if ya had a bite...lol...so in the end my wife and i were throwing rocks out to make holes and trying to aim the cast down the holes...this lasted for 1/2 hour before we called it quits! gotta give ya 10/10 for trying:thumbsup_anim:
  9. what a blast! On light tackle that must've been fun did ya eat it?
  10. Hey Sinker, its a good days drive if you try and do it in one haul...but i did that once....best to do it in 2 days. I'm heading out on saturday for whities, i'll post a report. Will be doing a lot more whitie fishing after january as most of the whitie lakes are trout lakes...trout not open till Jan1st....just avoids any hassles and harm to fish out of season...as you will always get trout while fishing whities.
  11. LOL..i dont think Glen would come...he'd have to wear at least a T-Shirt....lol
  12. Hi Y'all. I see all these great Lakair and other similar get togethers happening but they all seem to be way south of us up here. I would really like to arrange something like that for the NWO contingent of OFC, thats not to say all are not welcome I have been in contact with around 4 members already from the area....1 definitely up for it, waiting replies from others, but if your interested please reply to this post so we can start the list and work on the where, who, when...lol why.....of it all. There are some NWO members of an ice fishing forum i frequent already interested so we could have around 10 people already once yo include family, friends and pets...lol Look forward to lots of replies hopefully, but even a few would be fun. Thanks Simon
  13. Top stuff!!!! whats a bit of rain huh? and a feed of perch too! Nice size perch too. Congrats thanks for the report. Simon
  14. Hey Rob....thats fantastic! I have not had my sled/shelter out yet...lol...but the hamster wheel has been turning since the drive home from the shop....and before that even. I experienced the wholeminnow thing last year a couple of times with the basic fibreglass trappers sled i used....not very good start to the day to find 3 or 4 dozen prime sucker and dace minnows frozen solid to the bottom of your sled! But as the guy stated putting the bag in the bucket always helps....but i usually have a supply at home not bagged. I cant see where the guy keeps his auger now with all the get up. But i was already thinking about installing an auger mount on my snowmobile....then i can really run 'n' gun. I already thought about installing some metal hooks on the sides near the bottom of the sled for attaching tie downs/bungee cords to snug everything down inside. Thanks for the link....it all helps! Simon
  15. Lol Joey...i wish it was porn....but i think it was Braveheart on that afternoon....does look like "lesbians in space" DVD though....lol. Hey Drifter...that is indeed a very fine snowmobile you have there....one day i will have a fine machine also...but my new second hand will have to do for now.
  16. LOL...uh...its 25" high...so on its side its 25" wide....last time i looked my door was at least 30" wide...should be no probs. Its just so fricken big i'm more worried whether my snowmachine will pull the beast....darn it...knew i should've bought that Bearcat!!!!
  17. a very enjoyable 4 minutes there Rambleon. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. I'm gonna have to do one of those now, but there's still 3 weeks of 2008 left...gonna wait till then.
  18. My buddy just called from Kenora....Saturday for whities on Shoal Lake is GO!!!! Should be good...report will follow.
  19. Wow...really nice fish! Great report. cant believe you guys are still in boats!!!!lol.
  20. Hi Y'all, Did not get out fishing today, we're at minus 28*C daytime here....with upto 50-60 kmh wind gusts, so i spent the day setting up my newest toy...a three man Otter Team Wild flip up shelter. GOT THE RUNNER KIT TO SAVE WEAR AND TEAR THE SQUARE POLES MAKE IT REALLY STURDY AND STRONG I LIKE THE BENCH SEAT....LESS RESTRICTIVE THAN THE CLAM OR FRABILL BUCKET SEATS EVEN IF THE LATTER ARE MORE COMFORTABLE....BUT THE BENCH IS NOT UNCOMORTABLE THE TENT FABRIC IS NOT AS THICK AS THE CLAM ICE ARMOR, OR THE FRABILL, BUT ITS 8" LONGER AT THE FRONT THAN ITS EQUIVALENT IN THE OTHER BRANDS LOADS OF ROOM IN HERE!!!! FOLDS NEATLY AWAY AND TAKES 30 SECONDS TO FLIP UP! CAME WITH A GOOD COVER THAT FITS REALLY TIGHT, AND I"LL BE ABLE TO PACK EVERYTHING I NEED INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK! WHAT REALLY CLINCHED IT FOR ME WAS THE SLED CONSTRUCTION, THICKER MOULDED PLASTIC, 20" DEEP, NICE FAT STEEP WEDGE FRONT, PIVOTING TOWBAR WITH SHOCK SPRING AT THE HITCH END Well i cant really give it a review cuz i aint got it out yet. It was a bit of a trade off when it came to tent quality, but becuse this will be my only towing sled for the snowmachine....i really thought it was better to go with the one that had the best sled design, and this one outdid the Frabills and Clams by a million miles. I have read the posts about other flip ups and realise that the bench is not to everyones taste, but after spending 2 days in Winnipeg sitting in over 10 different shelters in 4 different stores.....i did not have a problem with them....in fact i prefer the bench seating, it is not as comfy as the bucket seats....but its not uncomfortable and gives more seating manoeverability. Cant wait to get out in it...maybe next weekend on Shoal Lake for whities.
  21. Yup its just hitting us now....its minus 28C outside, wind is gusting upto 60kmh.....i think we got lucky though...cuz the snow that was forcast to be around 10-15cm in 12 hours is now only forcast for 2 cms.....PHEW!
  22. My condolences to you and your family on your loss. Simon
  23. Great stuff Ben, really, and i mean REALLY nice walters you guys got. That hummingbird looks a decent bit of kit too. I'm just taking a break from putting the runners on my sled too as we speak. Great stuff.
  24. AWESOME Jaques and paul....great report....feels great to ice the first one eh? Ok...i'm still pmsl at the cut thumb... but i have been chewed by one myself...and it aint that funny....lol...but i still chuckled great to see you captured a UFO in the first pic too (top left corner). cant wait for some more reports from you guys... Simon
  25. Hi Y'all came out this morning toload the snowmobile onto the trailer....and as soon as i walked out my nose hair froze solid....weird feeling...lol. Looked at the thermometer and yup....-minus 32 clcius....lol...i thought straight away...."good for ice, not so good for GCD's preferred style of fishing" A BIT NIPPY THIS MORNING
