  1. LMAO!!!! Come on guys, read the post properly
  2. The scary thing is this is how it starts...animal activist groups love these opinions....first you ban catch and release, because it is cruel...than you go for a complete ban on sportfishing. Rulings like the ones in europe start to set precedent...God forbid it EVER happens here!!!!!!
  3. Just wanted to "chime" in here guys...thanks for the overwhelming response to my question...lots of good advice and lots of great offers on rods...looks like I will actually be getting two used rods for what I was looking to spend. Can't wait to give them a shot...probably end up getting hooked like I did 25 years ago when I took up river steelheading! I'm thinking that adrenaline surge hooking up with a musky must be amazing...one of the responses mentioned underpowering/overstressing the fish, and it is a very valid point...I don't want to overplay them, and ALL will be released...if I want a mount that bad it would be a replica. I love eating fish, but, keeping a musky is not necessary, unless of course it is so badly hooked it would die anyway. Thanks guys, hopefully some other musky novices are learning from this thread as well.
  4. Now THAT's what I'm talking about...nice feed and nice size fish!!!!!!!!
  5. Wow, have been busy and away from the computer tonight, just checked out the amount of responses, thanks guys...some decent offers on used rods as well...I will re-check all of these tomorrow...Thanks everyone!!!!
  6. AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You think this site is bad, Jamie...you should see the Niagara one! See you on Sunday for some walleye, dude!!
  7. Thanks for an extremely comprehensive reply...the reason I was leaning toward medium heavy is that I wasn't anticipating throwing lures over 1 ounce, but having seen enough muskies and larger pike caught on tv (as well as some pike I have landed myself) they do like to put on that explosion close to the boat...I looked up the compres as well and found the prices about the same, but, solopaddler's reply concerns me...I have never had three rods break on me in my life, be it salmon, steelhead or warm water fish. Thanks to everyone else who has replied so far as well.
  8. Alright guys/gals...in my quest for a musky (one of my goals for this year)...I need a beefier rod, medium/medium heavy...any suggestions for a decent one under $100...probably won't use it more than 10 times this year so don't want to break the bank on it. Something of good quality for the money. Thanks in advance.
  9. Still have a lightning rod, that was purchased almost 27 years ago...Trilene XT is still the best mono in my books...yeah it sucks that you had trouble with the container, but, tell that to Berkley, because it sounds like that is who this post is addressed to. If it bothers you that much...don't buy it...nothing hurts companies more than losing business, but, tell them why...maybe they will do something to fix it. Good luck!
  10. That should be hanging on a wall...too beautiful to actually use as a lure...nice!!
  11. Ooops...that was a reel that I forgot about...okay, one exception.
  12. Not as smooth, less efficient...about 25-30 years ago the "fighting drag" was a big novelty...turned out the fighting drag pretty much sucked.
  13. Those are some nice upgrades Bill...got me thinking now!! Would be nice to have the option of a bow mount trolling motor!
  14. BillM...the pike and the walleye are nice, but, that Brookie.............AMAZING...they really are the most beautiful fish!!
  15. The upgrade in HP is a good move as I stated earlier...however, maybe we can get some of the guys that have a 2 stroke to chime in...personally I would wait until I had the $$$$'s to buy the 4 stroke. Good luck, Mike!!!
  16. Probably would have gone, but, heading to Quinte. Hopefully next year.
  17. Hey, Mike...not sure about the 2 stroke, hopefully someone else can help you on that, the 4 stroke I have runs on a tank forever, and that is without an electric trolling motor. The casting deck up front sounds like a good idea, my pro sport has the split in back, middle (live well and storage) then a bench and a small seat up front.
  18. Thanks, just looking some some info on the boar their selves, how were the dealers, the customer service with Lund boats in general...etc MTBF Legend or Lund??? By the models you have mentioned I am guessing Legend...bought mine slightly used at a non-Legend retailer last year. Have heard good and bad, same as any other dealer...as far as the boat itself, 14 ft pro sport....so far so good! One thing you are going to hear over and over is they come underpowered, which is true....upgrade in your horsepower if you buy one.
  19. Ricky Bobby all the way....SHAKE AND BAKE!!!!!!
  20. With apologies to Americans on this forum, when has anyone of authority in the US ever cared what happens to Canada? The sad thing is they will be ruining it for all the American fisherman/women as well.
  21. The bleeding never stops...man that was painful!!!!!!!
  22. Save some of those fish for next week Jamie!!!!! Nice to hear, how big was the party of fishermen/women? Can't wait to get out...nine days now.
  23. The original post asked for a 3-4 hour drive, but, I'm sure those would be good.
  24. Exactly...noticing waaaaaay too many guys getting po'd over trivial stuff on fishing forums. Good that Grimace has an opinion and follows it, but, save the anger for poachers, snaggers, the ministry .
