Great job Snag!!! I have a new found respect for you now that I've landed my first pike. After seeing those teeth on those guys, I have a new appreciation for all the ones that you manage to land!!! Hope you and your family had a great Christmas and will have a happy and healthy new year. Also...thanks for all the laughs with your great pics and reports this past year....

I look at it this way...you need money/credit to overspend....two things I dont really have....LOL.

Thanks everyone!!! I'm just amazed that we are still able to shore fish this late in December. That pike was sure different than hooking into a big walleye....an even more awesome feeling to actually land the thing. I'll be fishing all winter long if the temps stay like this....

Ok...my brother-in-law is in town from the States and we've been taking him to our secret Walleye spot a few times over the past week. Blyght and I did our best to show him our technique and he was doing great! He hasn't caught anything as of yet. Well, tonite we went out and about a half hour into it, I hooked what I thought was a pretty big Walleye! As I was reeling him in, it surprised me by instantly running and taking lots of drag. As he got closer he jumped out of the water a few times. I knew then it wasn't a Walleye...they normally fight for a minute or so and then come in like logs. Anyhow, this is what I pulled out of Lake Ontario.... My first ever Northern Pike...measured in at 34", 15.5" girth and weighed 10 pounds, 4 ounces. We bought a new rapala digital scale today, so we just HAD to test out right? haha. He was hooked pretty deep and I was afraid he wouldn't make it, but after using my new hip waders, I took him out about 6 feet and he took off splashing water on me. That's it for now...what a rush...my first ever pike.....what a day!!!

Hey everyone! My brother-in-law is here from the US, and we were going to try out a local trib on Friday. We have floats, hooks, bags, roe, leaders etc.... The only problem is that we dont really know how to tie the bags....how much roe per bag etc. We're hoping to hook into some of the awesome looking steelheads posted on here by other members. Any help would be appreciated....websites, personal experiences. Thanks in advance...hopefully we'll having something for a fishing report on Friday....

Blyght and I cleaned up this year! My brother in law is here from the States and he bought us some gear. This first pic is a new muskie rod!!! Check it out.... I told him he had to leave after that gift....LOL. Then he showed us what he really got for us. Take a look at the left side of the pic...that's our current rod and reel combos. The new ones on the right are pretty cool looking Okuma Diezel 9 foot combos....for the bigger fishies!!! I told him he could stay as long as he liked....LOL. Finally...here's some of the new gear.....we also got a 15 mile range FRS set, hip waders with insulated boots and a gift certificate for line for the new reels. Finally...we got these cool hats....hehe. Now we feel like real OFNers!!! Tomorrow, my parents are coming over....with gift certificates for Bass Pro Shops!!!! Cant wait to spend it all....hehe. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas...I think we're gonna try to go fishing tonight...I know its going to rain, but hey...if the fish dont care, then we dont either...

lol....my 4 year old daughter saw me playing...she said "awwww...poor kitty"....guess I have to be more careful...hehe

The regs didn't say anything for most species in Division 8....so my brother in law and I wet the lines for an hour today...not cause we expected to catch anything...but because we could. I cant think of a recent year when it was warm enough to do this on Christmas Eve..... Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Thank you all...they grow up so fast...she's at the BEST age as far as Christmas is concerned. I'm most excited to see her reaction tomorrow. She was literally squealing as we left her room for the night. I think I'm almost as excited as she is.....

ccmtcanada replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
Should be an interesting weather day for sure!!! It still may be mostly rain here, but not too far to the north, they are expecting snow!! My little one wanted to make a snowman...and cant wait til it snows....Looks like I may have a one day window to help her with one!!! Merry Christmas Shawn!!! and everyone else too!!! -
I'd like to extend our best wishes to all this Christmas...and for a happy and healthy new year. My 4 year old daughter iced some cookies for Santa...then wrote him a letter...then spread reindeer food all over the front walk. Here are some pictures....the smiles and concentration on her face says it all. She actually wanted to go to bed early so that Santa would come sooner. Oh to be a kid again...the excitement....the anticipation.....

Wow...sorry to hear about your loss Chris. I think everyone here has had this terrible disease strike close to home. I lost my father to it back in 1994...he fought it for 3 years....he was 55 years old. My grandmother, my uncle...also died at an early age. They are making progess...and stories like Photoz' gives hope to those stricken by this disease. I donate every year to the Canadian Cancer Society in hopes that our future generations can live longer and healthier lives. Cliff

BOQ= Bay of Quinte. This map will help you out. I'd be surprised if anyone made fun of you for that question.....it's a legit question...it took me forever to figure out that GB was Georgian Bay.....

Great to see her at home and recovering!!! I've known a few 3 legged dogs over the years...and you'd never know it...the way they'd play and run. Thanks for the update...I had been wondering about her. Merry Christmas! blyght and ccmtcanada
