Here's a special weather statement from environment canada for Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday. It cover pretty much all of Southern Ontario....jeez...what next??? WET SNOW AMOUNTS COULD REACH UP TO 10 CENTIMETRES ALONG THE 401 CORRIDOR EXTENDING FROM LONDON TO THE GREATER TORONTO AREA BY THURSDAY MORNING. WHILE HIGHER ELEVATIONS TO THE NORTH AND ALONG THE NIAGARA ESCARPMENT COULD SEE CLOSE TO 15 CENTIMETRES OF WET SNOW. BURSTS OF HEAVY WET SNOW FROM TIME TO TIME COULD RESULT IN SUDDEN REDUCTION OF VISIBILITY FOR MOTORIST AND COULD EVEN BRING DOWN SOME POWER LINES. Full advisory at http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/warnings..._e.html?prov=on

Depends on the person and the circumstances under which it was caught. My wife (bly) caught a trophy walleye this past fall. We catch and release all walleye that we land, however, this one took the lure very deep and after over a 1/2 hour of trying to revive it, it didn't make it. Instead of having it to go waste, we are looking to have it mounted. I could see why someone would mount a fish if there were sentimental reasons behind the catch. Maybe 3 generations fishing together and the youngest catches a huge fish....mount that one cause it's special. Maybe a bad example, but you get my drift. Maybe if you entered a tournament and you had the winning fish...why not remember the win by mounting it? Just a few examples to ponder.

I have the Korg AX300G effects floor rack....not as expensive as the POD series, but works for me just fine! Can use 24 banks x 4 sounds per bank storage. I kept their standard 8 banks and use 16 for editing and saving my own effects. Also has integrated volume/wah pedal and tuner as well. Mine came in for around 300 bucks I believe...the cost of 3 individual pedals.

The other guitarist in my band had the same probs with his floating head ibanez. At first it was cool to have it, but he's converted it to a fixed head...I'll likely do the same to my ibanez roadstar series guitar.

Thanks Shawn...we do pride ourselves in our teamwork...we've been pretty successful when we work together. Gbay and Basskicker...you are right about that...bly has the biggest Walleye and Steelhead...LOL. Even my 5 year old catches more pan fish when we take her out....haha. Any time! Get up here soon so we can hit the tribs again...I have you to thank for starting my steelhead adventures!! Not likely Scott...LOL. We've been steelie fishing for what...4 months now?? haha. Your title of Steel Master is safe for a LONG time I think. LOL Terry...we stumbled on those Walleye by luck...we just refined how we fished for them...muskie from shore??? Hmmm...sounds like a challenge to me!! Better make the film at midnight...gonna take a bit longer to get those big boys! No one wants to see my ugly mug on TV....haha. Fighting steelies is awesome and I can see how addicting that kind of fishing can become!! Thanks everyone for your comments!

Nice report...you did better than I last week...I spent 4 hours steelheading only to land a sucker as well...LOL. I'm sure you'll do much better next time, now that your new rod has landed it's first fish! Looking forward to more reports soon.

Hmmm...let's see...not a whole lot, but here's a list... 1) Lakair OFC G2G in June 2) Meet up with board member Nippising in July (Magnetawan area) 3) Family day fishing in the Kawarthas 4) Trying to get better at Steelheading in local tribs 5) Trying to plan a weekend somewhere with bly to fish 6) If there is a BOQ G2G this fall, I'd love to go. 7) Anyone who wants to take me out in their boat (I live in Whitby).....LOL 8) Fish with other OFC members....guys like Fishindevil, Joey and Tybo, etc.... Should be a fun year no matter what.

Found this in an article Joey....if we assume that Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario have the same kind of water system with similar feeding habits, it seems that your 29" may have been around 4 to 5 years old. "In Lake Michigan, they grow up to 32 inches long and may reach 16 pounds by the time they are five years old. The shape and color of their body during their lifetime is a sign of habitat, growth, sex and age." The whole article can be found at http://fishinsects.suite101.com/article.cfm/rainbow_trout

Both are beautiful guitars! I've had my Ibanez Roadstar 2 electric since 1985 and it still plays like that day I bought it....some fret wear, but nothing serious. The intonation is still bang on, so no complaints there either. I'm sure you'll love the new guitar!

Bly and I decided to head out to an eastern trib this morning. The temps were just below 0C, but luckily, we didn't have to contend with slush or our lines and rod tips freezing. The sun came up and it was quite comfortable out there. The water was clear, but had a nice green tinge to it. Ok...lots of action today...really got the adrenaline going!! We had never been to this part of this trib...so we were kind of exploring a little. Found this nice little hole...allowed for longer drifts than we were used to and very few snags. At about 9:15, I had a hit drifting around some rocks...FISH ON! This was a huge male (at least huge for my standards...at least a 10 pounder I estimate) and he was VERY scrappy. He stripped tons of line from my spool and ran in all directions. After about 5 minutes, with Bly at the ready with the net, he broke free. I was so close to getting him....I was pumped! About an hour later, in the same spot my float goes under again! This was a nice sized female. She took my line and just like the male, my drag got a big workout. These fish were very aggressive. We figure that because the pool was nice and long, that they can really get some distance between you and the fish. Anyhow, this one wrapped itself around a rock...CRAP!!! I waded out into the water and freed my line from the rock, only to have it wrap around another rock!! I managed to clear that one too, then she made a beeline to the rapids going down stream. I finally lost her when my line got tangled in a low overhanging tree branch. We drifted a short while and then headed to a fast food place for food. We got back from our lunch and decided to drift in a new location. Shortly after we got there, bly hooked into a nice fish! Fish on!!! The problem was we had separated a bit and when she she got my attention, I grabbed the net and began running to help her out. Unfortunately, her line was wrapped around the handle of her rod and the spool and she lost the fish. After cursing her bad luck, she took a little breather and then put her line back in the water. About 20 minutes later I hear "Fish on!!" I began my run yet again and she fought the fish for 5 minutes, giving me plenty of time to get there. She landed this beauty drop back hen...measuring at 27". (If anyone is keeping score...this is 1/4" longer than my PB...LOL). Team 9 has a new entry!! We were getting near to the end of our day...we had already decided we'd leave in a few minutes. She packed her gear up and I asked her to head to an area I wanted to drift to see if she could see any steelies there. The waters were very clear, so when she looked down, she said there was a nice sized one there. Another 5 drifts and FISH ON!! This one was a male in full spawning colours. This was a small fight compared to the ones this morning that I lost. She helped out greatly by netting this guy...the first male in spawning colours I've landed. The last pic...my same fish...both of us smiling for the camera before releasing him. The fish we fought were hooked on roe (peach bags) and white flies and jigs. So I went 1 for 3 and bly went 1 for 2. Not huge numbers in the landed department, but we had our best day on the tribs. Oh yeah...Mike The Pike....just so you know, she caught THIS fish on her own rod and reel....no luck invovled. PS. This isn't a secret hole by any means. It's off the beaten path, so if anyone can recognize this location, they already know it intimately and also know that fish hang out there from time to time. If someone really wants me to take the pics down, then PM me....thanks.

I dont have time to monitor other sites...this one keeps me busy enough!! I did do research before joining this one...this one is by FAR the best there is. I'm glad I found a home here.

The slouching thing it HUGE for me...I have to make sure to keep proper posture. I also try to make sure to shift my weight from foot to foot if I dont have a rock near by. When all else fails, I take some anti inflammatory drugs when I begin to feel pain.
-
If you cant do it streamside, then I find that really cold distilled water works great for hardening them too. I use only steelie roe to catch them...mind you, I'm not that good at it....LOL
-
Saw your report too Joey...at least you caught some trout though!!! LOL.
-
Wow!!! Great report Tom! Some great looking colours on those fish there!
-
Great report! Make sure Tybo sends his entry to our captain....LOL. Looked cold out there, but good for you guys for braving the elements!
-
Maybe all the people still ice fishing have fallen thru...and that's why there are no reports from them....

Bly and I went out last night to try our luck at night fishing again. Bly pulled one out in the dark last week, so we figured it was possible to do so! We found a nice spot and began our fishing. It was very cold last night...flurries....and when the wind picked up it sent shivers down our spines. Long story short...the steelies weren't hitting anything we put out there, but my adrenaline did get pumped for a short while. My float went down and I set the hook and pulled in my very first sucker. Had to take a picture of it...since it's my first. I was a little disappointed to find that they are not one of the species for OFAH angler awards or the OFC Tourney...LOL Anyhow, hopefully I'll try out my luck today or tomorrow.

I hear you Lew! Our local tribs have the same kind of garbage everywhere too. Bly pulled a garbage can out of of a popular hole just yesterday!! We try to pick up garbage when we go out...leave the place a little better than when we arrived.....if everyone did a little, than the net result would be huge. Some things we couldn't get out of the water...they are just buried too much from the current. Sad really...these areas are very nice....until you take a real close look.
-
I understand your pain photoz!! Went out last night to avoid crowds and the only thing I caught was a cold and a sucker!!
-
It was great meeting you out on the trib. You'll hook into a nice steelie very soon...that's my prediction! Welcome to the board....it's been a source of information and motivation for bly and I!!!
