Great report! Caught a nice variety of species too. That pic of the river in the morning with the fog was really cool. Thanks for the report...nice job out there!
-
So, do you catch only perfect, beautiful, clean fish? LOL. Most of mine are marked up, like they've been in a battle or something. Great job and pics as usual. Thanks for the report! As for the location....hmmm....I have no freakin idea.....LOL

Well, after I had a great week last week, I haven't been able to hook into any Salmon. Well, on the weekend I had one on, but lost it after a few minutes. Even though Bly caught that BEAUTY Brown Trout last week, she still had her heart set on catching a salmon from shore as it was one of her goals for this year. This afternoon, we tried hitting the tribs. We could see a few in there, but couldn't get any to bite. We decided that after dinner, in the cover of darkness, that we'd put on the waders and head back out there...hoping to catch one. I really wanted Bly to get one tonight...I've felt the rush of adrenaline fighting these powerful fish, but she hadn't yet. Anyways, we put our little one to bed and headed out. We were there for about an hour, when suddenly she yells "FISH ON!!". This fish put up a great fight...pulling lots of drag...darting left and right, but she handled the fish beautifully....skillfully bringing it away from all kinds of potential snag type structure. After a 15 minute fight, she lands her first Chinook from shore. Not a huge one, but a nice one at that. It measured in at 34" and weighed just a tad over 13 pounds. Here's a pretty cool release shot. It swam away strongly after just a few minutes of reviving....

Here's the news story from CTV news. Fishing gear stolen while man lay dying: police toronto.ctv.ca A 24-year-old man has been arrested after the fishing gear of an unconscious elderly man was stolen at an Oakville harbour. Police say the 68-year-old man was fishing at around 5 a.m. at the Bronte Harbour, near Lakeshore Boulevard West and Bronte Road, when he collapsed. When another fisherman in the area began CPR, the senior's line was reeled in and his rod was stolen. An ambulance responded to the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses at the harbour told police about the theft and the 24-year-old fisherman was arrested shortly after. Kitchener resident Jamie Harland Gross was charged with theft and two counts of breach of probation. Gross made his first court appearance on Friday. http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTV...hub=TorontoHome

Wow...my condolences to the friends and family of the fisherman. To the idiot who attempted to steal his gear...you are now shamed for life....jeez...you cant get much lower than that...hope you get what you deserve.

Wow...the look of determination on his face while fighting the fish and that HUGE smile with the fish is just priceless. Big congrats to your son...you must be a very proud dad tonight.

I seem to remember another thread where there were a number of members having trouble getting into OFC. Every other site worked fine and a few of us were trying to 1) find out if anyone else was having problems and 2) try to figure out why every other site was fine and not this one. Corey...you posted a bunch of stuff about how it's us people who know "nothing" about computers who have bunged up our own systems at home. You basically insulted every member who had the problem saying that we screwed up our own computers. As soon as a member looked into it and posted what he found out, you jumped all over him and said it definitely wasn't any of those issues and to once again, look at our own machines and incompetence. If I remember right, Rogers did say there was a problem and that they'd fix it. Magically, very soon after, the problem was resolved....when you said it had nothing to do with it. I didn't take any spyware off, I didn't start from scratch, I didn't do ANYTHING to my computer, yet it was working just fine again....and guess what...so did everyone else having the problem. Did I hear an apology on that thread? Did I hear an explanation from you? No...I didn't. I was going to let this rest...chalk it up to someone who likes to belittle people just for trying to relate, add a little help...but I couldn't...not when you directly insult other members of this board. Like slowpoke said...it's how you said it that's the issue. There no need for this kind of crap. It reminds me of how little kids settle problems...not adults. Enough said.

Everyone kept a level head....good job to everyone....for staying calm on the water, to the coast guard, to the marina, to everyone that was involved in any little way.

NIIICE!!! I think we've all felt the way your son does in that one pic after him losing his fish.
-
Wow...what an adventure to say the least!!! I'm just happy it ended on such a good note. Reminds us all to take stock...take better care...and be safe.

Pretty interesting read....for a legal paper...LOL. Thanks for posting the link..... Any idea on what the charge was...did it go to court minus the boots as evidence?
-
I liked the edit photos better.... If I had any idea what a histogram was then Dan's post would make more sense to me....LOL

Wow...a blonde joke I haven't heard....and a good one too...hehe.

You hit it right there Tony. This past spring, when I first started float fishing in the tribs, I needed all the help I could get. A longer rod helped me in drift quality/length and its a little more forgiving if there's a little slack in the line for a hookset. Once I get more comfortable fishing the tribs, and refine my technique, I may very well opt for a shorter rod, but I still have lots to learn. As for fighting the fish, I didn't notice a lot of difference, but my mentality is, if you cant hook the fish, there's not much of a fight...LOL.

Oh man....sounded like he off-handedly threatened you "better think twice before badmouthing".

You gotta choose very carefully what you believe!!! I've been getting spam before they called it spam. But just last week, I forwarded my name, address, social insurance number, drivers license number, banking info and health card number to this lady who...and I kid you not...wants to give me 10 million dollars!!! It was pretty simple to get all that info together and sent it back on their secure server. I'm just waiting for the phone call from her lawyer. I already have my new boat picked out, put deposit on it knowing the cash was coming....just waiting for that phone call!!!!

I love it when we can all get along.... Warms the heart -
Did you put the treble back on? I hate it when I remember to put it on hours after casting.... I have lots of shiny clean spoons too. haha.
-
I use a regular spinning reel...just make sure your reel is spooled according to the line weights printed on your rod.

You haven't done anything wrong. Most nights I go out I have the exact same thing happen. You just have to keep at it and when they are close to shore and hungry, they'll bite. What some dont realize is that bly and I were targeting these salmon for a month and just landed my first one earlier this week. I went after them last fall too...chucked spoon after spoon to the point where I thought my arm was gonna fall off and guess what? I hooked into one...it broke off in about 2 seconds. It's all about legwork and trial and error.
