  1. Ok Brandon...way too much info....LOL. I rarely sleep in a hotel...but this is just scary!
  2. So, when is spring coming?
  3. Wow Jen! What an amazing report. I felt the tension and excitement through your words!!! I dont hunt, but I am very impressed at your accomplishments this year. Congrats on your first and second...must have been incredible.
  4. Ok...for those who missed part one, you can click here to read it. Summer 2007 The one event that we were the most excited for this year was the Lakair G2G. Here we met LOTS of board members and had an absolute blast! Some highlights were breaking out the guitars and singing on Saturday night, finishing 6th in the pike tourney, fishing with Gerritt, Rick and Bernie, and having the chance to talk with many OFC members. I have tons of pics from that trip, but here are a few.... Fishing with Gerritt in his old boat...he said it leaked a bit but not to worry about it. A month later I believe it sank...LOL. (Ok...so not quite sank, but....) My first ever muskie.... Fishing with Bernie.... My PB Smallie. At the end of June, we got the chance to fish with Slowpoke...and we had a great time! Even though he wont let me forget about spilling his tackle all over the floor, I'd fish with this guy in a second! Bly landed her first ever Salmon on this trip.... Throughout the month of July, Bly had the MAGIC touch with her Red Devil spoon from shore. She caught LOTS of nice browns with that lure.... She also caught a rare summer Walleye from shore....this beautiful 12lb 14oz one! We fished with fishnsled 3 times this summer and had a great time every time out! Here are a few highlight pics.... Bly and fishnsled working hard to catch fish.... Watching fishnsled land this beauty muskie! My biggest Kawartha walleye. On July 27th, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Basskicker to try out some of his home made senkos, and did they ever perform! We had a great evening out on the water and managed to get some nice fish on that trip! Basskicker with a nice one... My personal best largie... After that trip, Basskicker GAVE bly and I a canoe!! What an amazing offer and amazing guy. We took it out as often as we could and had some memorable times fishing from it. I made a home made outrigger for it....and Solopaddler donated a trolling motor bracket so we were all set for fishing! Here's a few pics of our canoe outings... The first fish... My little one with her first fish from the canoe.... A nice Scugog Bass.... A pic with my little one..... Thank you so much Jason...and Solopaddler!! For the Labour Day long weekend, I put a thread on the board asking about fishing opportunities and Bricknblock and his better half Charmaine invited us to their place on the Trent-Severn...they gave us the use of their boat for the day! We had a great day of fishing...as well as meeting up with Big Chev and Ladywalleye. We had an awesome dinner and lots of laughs well into the night. Here's a group shot from that day.... Fall 2007 With the fall season comes shore Salmon and Walleye!!! We had never landed one from shore before so this was a learning experience for us. I got a PM to call BITEME...so I called him up and he gave me some GREAT advice on how to target salmon from shore. So, with new lures and technique, we hit the piers. My first ever chinook came in September...all 17 pounds of it.... We got out lots of times and landed quite a few of them....here are our personal bests.... Here's blys monster 40", 22 pounder.... My 39", 24.5 pounds.... At the end of September, bly and I rented a fishing boat on Lake Scugog and I managed my second and now personal best muskie...it measured in at 39" and 15 pounds. With LOTS of help from members of this board...and especially from Gerritt, who came over to inspect a boat that was close to his place, Bly and I purchased our first boat. It's a 14 foot tinny, with an 18hp mercury...and even though we didn't catch any fish in it (we only got out twice....the first time for just an hour or so to test it out and we got skunked our second time), we are very excited to have it! I've been out steelheading a few times this fall...with both Basskicker and Solopaddler and had a great time fishing with these guys. Solopaddler took me to an awesome spot for fishing and I ended up with my best day ever!! Here are a few pics from that trip...the scenery was amazing.... Snag and I met up for some fall pike fishing and once again had a great time...this guy is every bit as funny as he is on the board...and I dont mean funny looking....well...maybe I do....LOL. November came quickly and the BOQ G2G was a great time as well. Bly fished with Slowpoke all weekend, and I had the pleasure of joining Ted the Gadget, Gerritt, Mike the Pike and Slowpoke. Even though the fishing was tough...ok...I got skunked...we had a great time there. Our roomies were Greencoachdog, Doug and Lexxington....couldn't have asked for better roomates! This was also the trip where I met Sam from Carra Outdoor Sports and he completely blew me away by giving me a Mustang Float Jacket FREE of charge! Finally...we got into some of our shore walleye...and even though we didn't have the year we had last year, we got into some nice ones. To end the report, here's a few of our nicer ones... I also landed my personal best pike from shore.... Well, that's about it...sorry if this was too long, but we had an AWESOME year of fishing... This is going to be a VERY long winter for us....we cant wait to hit the spring run of steelies, and get our boat back out on the water.
  5. Yep..what Wayne said...windchill is the effect the wind has on how it FEELS to us. I wouldn't waste your time with the box. It would however prevent water from freezing on the unit when you are moving around like that. Great info in your post...good luck out there!
  6. Come on....it's CC talk.... CONS=Conditions.
  7. LOL...the other report(s) was for our fall Walleye only...this is a summary of our year....
  8. Well, this was our first full year of fishing, and we had a GREAT time out there. This board has been not only a source of entertainment, but a source of great information. We got tips on where to fish, what to use, what kind of fish were in certain bodies of water and where to rent boats. We also had a TON of help when it came time for us to buy our first boat. We had a great time at the Fishing for Tyler event G2G, Lakair and the fall BOQ G2G and when we needed things like float suits, inline planer boards, tackle, fellow OFNers were quick to offer their assistance! Anyhow, here's our summary...hope it's not too long!!! Winter 2007 What a warm start to the year! It was so mild out in Janauary, that our favourite shore spots were fishable. This was my first fish of the year, caught on Jan 5th....and as you can tell from the pic, this pike got my finger! I still have a scar where it ripped at it....LOL. Once our usual spots froze over, I turned my attention to trying steelheading. After many outings without landing a fish, CANADIAN COPPER invite me to join him and he taught me the stuff you just cant read on the internet. It didn't take long for him to get me into my first ever steelhead. It was a very cold day.... -28 with the windchill, but it was worth it to see my float go down and land this little steelie! Thanks Scott...for your patience and trusting me with some of your fishing spots...it's much appreciated! For Valentine's Day, Bly did an amazing thing...her gift to me was to rent a hut on Lake Scugog, so I could try ice fishing for the first time! We had a few hits early, but ended up being skunked. We had a great time in the comfort of a heated hut....and I enjoyed it "just" enough for me to head to the fishing for Tyler event....LOL. The Fishing for Tyler event was great for us! It gave us an opportunity to meet many other OFNers and it also introduced our daughter (then she was 4 years old) to ice fishing. Again, we didn't catch anything, but we all had a great time!! Here's a few pics.... Joey and my daughter warm in the Clam...having a chat.... Here's Bly doing a little jigging! CANADIAN COPPER was nice enough to take Bly out to try and get her first Steelhead, and on March 9th, she got her first!!! We got out as much as we could to hunt these Steelies....here are pics of our personal bests from the tribs. And yes...her fish is 1.5" longer than mine...LOL. Thanks to Basskicker, we had an amazing trout opener...even though we didn't land any PBs or got into huge numbers, we still managed to go 5 for 7 that day....our best day on the tribs! Spring 2007 When the trout run was over, and nothing else was open for fishing, bly and I went to our local spots to see what was swimming around and what did we see? Carp! Ok...they are not the most glamorous fish, but they were fish, so we read up on how to catch them. After learning from this boards best carp anglers we got pretty good at catching these strong fish! We had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with MJL, Lazybum, Wolfeville, Victor (and a few others I'm sure I'm missing here) where we had a chance to see the latest carp equipment. We shared great conversation and even caught a few fish! Here's a few of our bigger fish... Our family season opener in great fashion! We went to the shores of Lake Scugog for this day... A few pics from another family outing.... One of our highlights was when bly and I met up with Snag in May to fish in good ole Toronto. We had a BLAST that day...and even got into a few fish...including Blys first ever Pike! My fav pic of the day was Snag...obviously not reading the sign....and wondering why we were not following him. LOL That's it for part one....part two will have the summer and fall... To be Continued!
  9. All right!!!! CCs reports are back!!!! Great job out there Scott....nice brown and steelie you got there. Must have felt great to see that float go down and fight them again. Now that you're back into it, we'll have to head out sometime. One thing though, I dont know where you moved...LOL. Thanks for the report!

  16. You had a great season! Some real nice fish pics there. Salmon may be ugly in the trib, but they can still be lots of fun to catch. Congrats on a great season.
  17. I hate you. I really really do. That being said...I know I got the invite, but I just couldn't go. Damn!!!! I knew you'd have a banner day out there. Some great looking fish there Mike....are you pretty much done for the year? It looked cold, but the adrenaline does a lot for warming you up when catching fish. Congrats on a great day out there. I'm looking forward to the spring run!!
  18. Ahhhh...jury duty. Bring a book is all I can tell you!! I haven't been called for it yet, but know lots of people who have.
