  6. Hey now...I worked on Wednesday...almost a full day too...left at 3:30....LOL
  7. Actually...this is a new float rod...only used it about 5 times. When I went fishing with Solopaddler for the first time last month, he plastic was still on the bottom part of the cork...and he made fun of me for it...LOL. If you look carefully, there is still plastic on the top part..... And...Carole only takes fish off my hook when I forget my gloves and sanitizer at home.
  8. After reading all those amazing posts from Solopaddler, I knew I had to get out and fish with him again. The weather was iffy, so we didn't make a final decision on where to go until yesterday afternoon. It was another early morning (when isn't it when fishing with him??? LOL), and we got to our destination as the sun was coming up. Anyhow, at first light, the winds were not too bad, but we knew they'd come blowing as the day went on. He caught and landed the first fish....but he was too far away from me, so there is no pic. Had to have been a good sized one though, knowing him. A few minutes later, I see my float go under, and I set the hook. I hear the drag getting a workout and saw this fish jump 5 or 6 times right out of the water. It was a pretty good fight and I finally landed it...a decent sized one, with a healing sore on it's belly. About 15 minutes later, this little guy takes my float down.... The winds soon kicked up and it was nearly impossible to even cast. A few times my line would go out...hit the wind and then land 3 feet in front of me...LOL. I was also almost blown over a few times and into the water...but caught myself at the last second. I look over at Solopaddler and he's there chuckling at me....he said that that would have made the fishing trip to him seeing me swimming...nice guy eh? He's just bitter because I outfished him! I better enjoy this, cause it'll never happen again...LOL.
  9. Very tragic indeed, and I apologize if my pictures added to the confusion. I wrote in another thread that I hoped that he'd be found ok. My condolences go out to his family and to all that knew him. I think that front that came through took everyone by surprise.
  10. Probably a staff member or supporter of the Hon. Donna Cansfield. BTW...welcome to the board.
  11. I read some of his posts and the thread about him on the other board....members taking their own boats out to look for him. Very sad. Very sorry to hear this news. My condolences to his family and to all that knew him.
  12. You are right keram...4 sets of 8 - 1.5 volt batteries hooked up in parallel would give you 6V...forgot about my basic physics...hehe
  13. That's because they are working at the speed of government. It'll be available online a month before the 2010 regs are to come out.
  14. Could you scan the pages and post here??? hehe
  15. Another tell tale that it's not real is that 32 batteries times 1.5 volts is 48 volts....and it was taken from a 6 volt battery.
  16. Hooked...I sent you a PM...guess you didn't see it in time.
  17. They found that kayaker..... http://www.thestar.com/News/Ontario/article/280675 Kayaker found dead in Lake Ontario Nov 28, 2007 11:16 AM Tamsyn Burgmann Staff Reporter A kayaker who went missing on Lake Ontario yesterday amid snow squalls and high winds was found dead this morning along the Niagara shoreline. The Brantford man, 45, was still in his kayak when his body was discovered around 9 a.m. near Grimsby, said Hamilton police Acting Staff Sgt. Chris Wills. Concerned individuals in Fifty Point Park first called police around 3 p.m. Tuesday when the man left shore despite treacherous weather. He was wearing a wetsuit. A search team, including members of the Canadian Coast Guard and the Hamilton and Niagara police marine units, set off in winds gusting up to 90 km/h and waves three to five metres high, but had no success last night. “We had to pull our boat back because it was starting to ice up,” Wills said, adding a helicopter from Canadian Forces Base Trenton searched until the early hours of the morning. Police haven’t yet released the man’s name.
  18. Oh wow....there were small craft warnings and gale warnings all day long. With 15 to 20 foot forecasted wave heights in a kayak....oh man...cant even imagine what he went through. Let's just hope he managed to make it to shore ok.
  19. I hear you...and make it a week or two earlier if the charts line up...a few degrees in air temps makes a huge difference...LOL
  20. Hmmm....I'd like a GPS/Sonar combo for the boat for next year!!! (Bly...you reading this?)
  21. Great report...great pics....great information! Congrats on a great few days out there!
  22. SWEET fish!! Congrats on the PB...you have been on fire lately!
  23. Went to check out a shore fishing spot....had my big red bobber, 5 foot combo spincast rod and worms and was met with this..... It was kinda hard to see my bobber so I went home...after almost being swept off my feet by the wind..... Maybe tomorrow....
  24. Terry....I have an excuse for BOQ....I have no idea how to fish from a boat...LOL. Guess I wont have that excuse next year...unless I continue to not catch from a boat...haha.
  25. Wow...you've just eclipsed our entire fall season from shore in one afternoon!!! LOL. Great job out there guys...some awesome looking fish!!!
