Final Days, Year End & Freeze Up. Report.
ccmtcanada replied to Moosebunk's topic in General Discussion
Wow...I had to read this report over 2 days...LOL. Great job on the report but more importantly, congrats on achieving all your goals in 2007! Looks like you had another banner year...thanks for sharing your experiences here on OFC....you are one of the guys on here that really motivates bly and I. Those ice pike are truly incredible...I shake my head every time I see them....LOL. From the Hobbit -
With all the flashes from the camera each time we catch a fish....
-
Thanks Glen....the killer brown trout is not a walleye..and this is a walleye report (With incidental pike pic). But, it is a pic worth seeing again....here it is....lol This was 28 inches and weighed 13lbs 7oz

We were hoping that the weather would cooperate and that we could get out another time or two since our part one report...hoping for some more success, but the weather really has NOT cooperated this year. The cold temps, the water conditions/clarity/level, and the wind all combined to make our prime shore spots unfishable. We do have a system...depending on those factors as to what shore spot we pick, but it seemed that they all just sucked...LOL. The storm we just got walloped with seals the deal....unless we get a large turnaround in weather, it's now to the tribs in search of Steelhead. (assuming they are not frozen!!!) Here's a picture summary of our other catches for this fall..... First off...an accidental pike, caught by me. Ended up being my PB pike...measuring in at 36.5" and weighing one ounce shy of 11 pounds. My 31" long, 17" girth and 10lb 14oz fishy. Bly's 30 inch, 11lb 9 ouncer My PB in length...and it's my final entry for the OFC Tourney is this 33.5", 12lb 6 ouncer. Bly was fishing alone one night at a new spot and surprise surprise she caught a nice one! Measured in at 31 inches and weighed 12.5 pounds. No pic unfortunately...as I had the camera at home...LOL. My heaviest of the year came in at 12lbs 12 ounces, and measured 33 inches. And in true Bly fashion, she once again gets the biggest fish of the year....this nice one measured in at 32.5 inches and weighed 12 pounds 14 ounces....beat me by 2 lousy ounces....LOL. So...all in all, we had a pretty good year fishing for these guys from shore. We probably only got out half the number of times as we did last year. Last years weather was perfect right up through December. We really are looking forward to next spring with our boat....and being able to catch some fish up in the Kawarthas....is it just me or does anyone else think it's gonna be a REALLY LONG WINTER??????????? Thanks for reading!

BUSTED..... LOL

I woke up to the sound of shovelling. I came downstairs and looked outside...Bly was there trying to clear about a foot of snow off our driveway. As she got closer I kept hearing...Spiel that @#$%...something about you being all ready with a new snowblower and why the hell were you not here clearing our driveway.... If you remember....you said.... The baileys is on the counter with a full pot of coffee right beside....you have some explaining to do mister....LOL.

Come on in...the fireplace is going, the sofas are all set up..... Bring your own drinks tho....

ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Yep....that's the one by the Oshawa Center...it's not an advertised sale price...I'd think they'll still have them tomorrow. If you're gonna throw the rod out, I'll take it from you...if the price is right....LOL. -
If you're looking for a nice rod/reel combo, there is one on sale at the Oshawa south Canadian Tire. Bly and I were shopping in there today and noticed it, so we picked one up. It's not in the flyer, so it may be an in-store special only. Reg $74.99 Sale $34.99. They had around 15 or so left...it's in the main aisle by the sports dept in a displayer if you want one. Here are specs... Graphite construction rod with spinning reel Fast flex lightning tip Stainless steel insert guide system Reel constructed of strong, lightweight graphite 8 bearings with anti-reverse Right of left hand retrieve Measures 6' 6" (195cm) Weighs 15 oz (420g) No smart remarks from Wayne about me advertising for Canadian Tire...and no annoying Canadian Tire couple jokes....LOL

This winter storm watch is in effect for all of Southern Ontario all the way to Brockville and north to Algonquin Park. Stay safe everyone! Check this link for your area.... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/son_e.html =========================================================================== 6:56 AM EST Saturday 1 December 2007 ...Winter storm on its way this evening through Sunday... This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. The snow squalls the Lee of northern Lake Huron and Georgian Bay should finally dissipate later this morning. These squalls are still capable producing snow at the rate of 15 centimetres every 12 hours. Travellers are advised to use extreme caution when travelling in these areas as the snow squalls can produce near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow along with very slippery road conditions. In the slightly longer term a major winter storm developing over Colorado is tracking northeastward towards southern Ontario. Snow is expected to arrive over southwestern Ontario by early this evening. The wintery mix of precipitation will move east towards cottage country and the greater Toronto area tonight. 5 centimetres of snow will likely fall over southwestern Ontario by Sunday morning before the precipitation changes over to rain while 10 to 15 centimetres is expected over the Niagara Escarpment. The greater Toronto area will see 10 centimetres of snow before the snow changes over to rain midday Sunday. A significant period of freezing rain or ice pellets is possible as the precipitation transitions from snow to rain. Northwest of a line from Midland to Oshawa the precipitation will remain frozen. As a result the snowfall amounts will be higher with 5 to 10 centimetres falling tonight and another 10 to 15 Sunday. The snow may possibly be heavy at times which can cause brief whiteout conditions. Snow will only begin to fall over eastern Ontario Sunday morning. For eastern Ontario the bulk of the now will fall Sunday night and Monday morning. At this point in time there is still uncertainty in the track of the low. If the low tracks further north a higher percentage of the precipitation will fall as rain. Alternately if the low tracks further south the snowfall amounts will be higher than currently indicated in the forecast. The winter storm will be extended east and or upgraded to a warning. Environment Canada will continue to monitor the situation as new information arrives.

When you catch fish like that, it's amazing how warm you can feel in frigid temps...get the adrenaline going! Great job and nice fish! -
BUMP Just in case some members here knew him well...and didn't see this before it got off the first page.
-
Watching a little too much TV? Go fishing Rick...LOL.
-
That would mean less money in the long run for the MNR. I for one would spend a little more per year (or 3 years) if there was a guarantee that the money was spent well...hiring more COs etc...
