Gavin, You questioned whether you added anything to this board....I know for me I always looked forward to your reports! I thought the quest you were on was pretty interesting and I was always wondering what you caught! It's a little sad seeing you go, but hopefully you'll keep up with your passion of fishing and send us reports from across the pond. Have a safe trip back, and look forward to hearing from you again soon!!! Cliff

Well, it's been a while since Bly and I have posted any Walleye (Wall-ice for Glen, Pickerel for many others) reports, and now that the season is over, here's a little summary of how we did this year. We fished right up until mid December last year, but this fall has proven much colder, and changed the pattern quite a bit. After having the season we had last year, we knew it would be very hard to beat and although we didn't catch any personal bests, we still had a pretty good year. We cant wait to try for these guys from our boat next year! We have learned a lot about catching these guys from shore, and I'll share a little bit of info that we've found out. For some reason (I don't know why), in early fall, they hit spoons and nothing else. After that stops working, it seems the only thing that works is Jigs tipped with twister tails or worms. Once they stop biting those, it's exclusively crank baits. We dont use live minnows...so we have no idea how well they'd work. Anyhow, here are some pics...most are from shore, but some are from assorted fishing trips in boats…..enjoy the fish porn! This one was caught on a spinner in July....a small 22" one....but also one of my only ones caught when the sun was still up...LOL. In mid-July, this one was caught up on Ahmic Lake. It was the only walleye that made it to our dinner table. This proves that Bly actually does catch some small fish....LOL. Caught on the infamous Jumla!!! Fishnsled took us out hunting muskie and this is the only fish I caught that day...this one ended up on HIS dinner table...hehe. We did a lot of searching this fall. The following pics were all caught at night in a few different locations. We even dawned our waders to try out some new spots and had a bit of luck. Bly started out the fall season by catching this nice one in September. It measured 27" and weighed 7.5 pounds. Sorry about the quality...I forgot the good digital at home and took this with my phone. This one came in at 29" and 8 pounds. It was our second smallest fall walleye, but is a cool shot because it's fins are all up.... They started to get a bit bigger.... Bly's 29", 8.8 pounder Bly's 9 pounder...and 31" Finally...here's a 9 pound 14 ouncer....measuring 31 inches... That's it for now....stay tuned for part 2...the bigger fish will be in that report....coming in a week or two!

Steelheading Sun/Mon Another Banner Trip!
ccmtcanada replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Wow....unbelievable! Great job out there Mike. I just hope Thursday is still looking good....I'm pumped seeing your reports....esp after seeing the creeks frozen this past weekend locally. -
If I knew for SURE it was a world record AND I could get to an official weigh station, I'd go for the live release record instead. Then again, I'm not a real muskie hunter so you can ignore my response...LOL.

Wow..what a great find! Thanks Rich.

This is an urban legend as noted in this link..... http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/eraser.asp The product contains no toxins....it's in fact abrasive. and that's what caused the 'burns' on their skin...the same as if they rubbed sandpaper or steel wool on themselves. Here's a website of the lady who's kid was 'burned'....if you read through it, the story was blown way out of proportion. http://kerflop.com/2006/11/02/chemical-burn/

We've used it on both....but check it in an inconspicuous spot first just to make sure. We've only tried it on lighter colour paint....not sure if it'll fade darker colours or not. If the spots are small then I would think it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
-
You can try the Magic Eraser first on it...we have small kids here all the time and that's the only thing we've found that works....I'm assuming it's marks on painted drywall? This is what it looks like and is available almost everywhere (grocery stores, Canadian Tire, anywhere that sells household cleaners).

Probably my last Fishing Report for a while - full of fishin' pics
ccmtcanada replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
007....150 fish? That's not too shabby at all!!! I will miss your reports, but will look forward to your fishing summary. Those fish are pretty aggressive!!! That third pic (second fish pic) shows that Perch trying to eat your thumb...LOL -
I've only seen them in the 'boats for sale' sections on kijiji.ca and craigslist.org. Since I'd never heard of them either, I tended to stay away, but they could be nice boats.

Great pics TJ! Good to see you and Monique got away from it all for a nice weekend. Oh yeah...time to trim those nose hairs....LOL. (and no, not on Monique)

These power/booster packs are a great idea! I decided against this and went for the nautilus deep cycle. The booster pack you mention only has 33AH compared to 103AH for the $119.99 deep cycle. I'd use it as an emergency backup for my main battery though!!

Yep...creek mouths from Oshawa to Ganaraska all frozen.... Tried a few drifts, but this is as far as we got....LOL
-
Leafs have it wrapped up Tonite....for sure.

I feel your pain...LOL -
Wow...great job! Every trib I checked today was frozen solid...LOL
-
Great report DSN!!! You always get GREAT pics...love the one of the carp hightailing it away from you.
-
Just put it in the general discussion area....the same area this thread is in. Looking forward to seeing the fish and hearing the stories!
-
Tell you what....if you come down here and get it, I'll make one for you!! I'll need to know the distance from your transom clamp to the bottom of the prop and the width of the largest part of your motor. I'll only charge the cost of materials and a Big Mac combo for lunch....LOL. It would likely cost more in gas to get here than it would be to buy one locally...haha.
-
Welcome to the board! I'm sorry to hear about you not being able to get out much anymore to fish, but maybe you could scan a few pictures of your fishing over the years and post the stories on here! I'm sure you'll love this board....welcome to OFC Community.

Umm...how do I answer this... I was the guy who analyzed the profit/loss potential on all products submitted for television that that couple starred in. It was up to me to make sure that the product would 1) make money and 2) was consistent with our overall advertising strategy. So...you could kind of say I was responsible...but I wasn't involved in the creative direction of that campaign that chose to use them in our ads. Awaiting the eggs to be thrown....and puts on a float suit and ski goggles....LOL

Welcome to the board! From your intro, it sounds like you'll fit right in!
-
Hey Shawn....I have one that I no longer need. Tell you what...I'll trade you the cushion for your extra transom saver....hehe. I used to use it all the time, but now that I'm using the Corolla all the time my head hits the ceiling of the car....LOL.

On second thought...I'm sure it's just fine....

My neighbour told me about the concrete floor thing when I first got it, so when it's not in use or charging, it's always sitting on a 2" thick piece of styrofoam to insulate it. It's good to know about how to store it over the winter....I was going to post a thread on it soon anyways.....thanks guys!
