  1. I never throw fish...I gently place them back in the water..... Ok...not entirely true...I'll put a minnow on a hook and cast the thing out there.
  2. Great report!! Awesome pics!! Some really nice looking cats there...and glad to see the sucker came in handy too...LOL.
  3. Hey Rick....welcome back! I didn't have nearly the issues you had, but I had to re-new my mortgage this past summer. I've dealt with Royal Bank for all my banking and investing for over 20 years now....but my mortgage was with Scotiabank...so I was hoping to renew my mortgage with Royal, and I let them know my intentions....if the deal was right. I figured they'd treat me like gold trying to get the mortgage and I couldn't have been more wrong!! They had me running through hoops to sign stuff for appraising my house, saying it would cost me a few hundred bucks to do this, the meeting I had with them was short and sweet, even though I told them ahead of time that I wanted to look at everything with them....bank accounts, investing, mortgage...the whole works. I was rushed out of their building, with most of my questions unanswered, with a bunch of papers to sign. I then went to Scotiabank and made a 1/2 hour appointment. I ended up talking to them for over an hour and a half....the lady I was talking to stayed an hour past the closing of the bank. She went over our entire financial plan, checked the appraisal value online (no forms to sign and no fee to have it done). At the end of the day, I gave them my business for not only the mortgage, but all my day to day banking and savings, as well as my investments. I got a call a few weeks later from the Royal Bank branch manager asking why I closed everything (there was a lot of money in my portfolio) and I was brutally honest. He said the person I talked would be fired...I said what is done is done....see you later. Good to see you are back...and glad to hear you'll be out fishing a LOT more! Looking forward to seeing you again up at Lakair in June....until then....take care and enjoy!
  4. Wow....hope all goes well for you!! The power of the water is incredible....and it's something I've never had to worry about, but after seeing how it can impact friends here on OFC, it really makes you think!! We'll be thinking of you guys!
  5. Kill the bee? They are not a put and take insect...jeez...if you want to catch bees in the years to come you'd just catch and release it....be sure not to wipe the protective pollen coating off them either. Oh wait...I think I'm a bit confused here....
  6. I don't know about this Dave guy. I saw him at Gagnon's last weekend giving advice on fishing tactics and lures. I saw him cast lure after lure in that tank...landing right in front of the fish and he didn't catch anything at all. I mean...it was a bit embarassing to watch. All kidding aside, Dave seems like a great guy...his new show rocks and he seems very down to earth!
  7. Just keep them in an aerated live well, then release them after measuring.
  8. That's the beauty of this set up...you dont need a ramp...just go fast...and brake hard. Because of the angle the boat is on I'd say you'd only need to get within 10 feet of the water and it's launched. Oh yeah...dont forget to tie the boat to the truck.....
  9. Yep....the boat is all set and ready to go. Started up the motor this past weekend, shifted stuff around in the garage so it fits in there with the trailer.
  10. Bill...not google earth...these are sattelite shots from a website.... http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/mod...on=o&page=1
  11. I noticed that too...lots of melting on Simcoe and the northern sections of the Trent Waterway.
  12. Ok ok ok... Lots of people have been bugging me about this since December.... I'd like to give ice fishing a try....any suggestions close to the GTA? Sriously though....thinking about taking the boat out somewhere. Was originally thinking Simcoe for perch....or launch locally on Lake O (conditions permitting of course). Don't really care a whole lot about fish...just want to take the boat out...my 6 year old really wants to go for a ride in it.
  13. The way I see it, at the end of the day, you do what feels right for you. Weigh the pros and cons, make a decision and live with it...no matter how it turns out. Listen to your heart...it's the only way to go here.
  14. I'd think the fish are below the water line...but hey...I don't know that spot....LOL. Stan....Checking a few things regarding that PM....be back to you soon!
  15. I'm always amazed at the quality pics you get WHILE you are fighting fish! That's a skill on it's own. Great report as always. On a side note, I've had the tingling fingers as well. And as you mentioned it was from resting my elbows on tables or any other hard surface for too long. Sounds like your issue is different...I've never had a finger curl up like that. I'm glad to hear you are getting a second opinion!
  16. Great report Glen...good to see you getting out there...not letting the boat thing stop you from going fishing!!! Great pics...looks like you are even getting back into a shore fishing groove!!! Hope you get the boat back soon...and all fixed up the way you expect it.
  17. I don't consider myself a steelheader....I consider myself an angler who happens to target steelhead when nothing else is open for me to target. But I agree with you Kemper...give me frozen guides, avoiding slush coming down the stream and seclusion to late spring...even if I don't catch huge numbers. Anyhow, I have a boat now....so I'm looking forward to the new waters I can explore this summer.
  18. So it accomplishes TWO things then Wayne....LOL
  19. Crowds are why most of our outings are at night....some don't mind crowds....some hate them....to each their own. I fish to relax....and I'd rather catch less fish and be out there in seclusion and fish during non prime times, then have to worry about other's around me.
  20. Good stuff guys! Those whistle trout sure do fight don't they?? And those branches...wow....they've broken many a leader in my time...great job on landing that monster! LOL. Gotta love it when you don't need to dress in layers, or wear a float suit, battle frozen fingers and noses, and all that stuff.
  21. Goin down the only road I've ever known... Oh wait...this isn't "name that 80's tune?" I suppose it does all lead to the same place.
  22. Bly went there today...stocked up on jigs, leader material, shot, floats.... I think we'll be eating Kraft Dinner for the rest of the week now....
  23. So...did he get his rod apart? Maybe something awful happened to him in the attempt? Stay tuned....find out if he was successful.... Story at 11?
  24. I know what some are saying here. Last year was our first year trout fishing and we were all pumped about the "opener". While we had a good time, it was also pretty much our trout closer as well....LOL. This year, we are not sure if we will go out....we may go once after the opener, but as Solopaddler said, the attraction for us isn't as great. The hard thing is that not much else is biting locally....maybe go bottom fish for bullhead.....LOL.
  25. Maybe have to fish lower sections for dropbacks? A ton of fish had to have run somewhere.....did the spawn happen early? I'm not even sure if we are going out for the opener this year....
