  1. I may just take you up on that! I've never fished Erie before!
  2. Looks awesome!!!
  3. About 6 weeks ago, I was packaged out of my job of 22 years. It came has a huge shock, but now that has worn off and I've decided is take the entire summer of before looking for my next job. I hope to fish as much as possible!! This is a great opportunity for me to get out there I've been waiting for bass season to open, so as soon as my little one was off to school, I hightailed it to Lake Scugog. It's about 40 minutes door to launch so it's prefect so I can be home when school is out. I launched at 10am and headed out. The weeds seem to be really behind schedule and it took a while for me to find what I was looking for. The first 3 hours was brutally slow and the winds were blowing me around pretty good, so I looked for some wind protection. Fishnsled texted me asking how it was going...and as soon as I said this lake sucks I started hitting a few fish. The first were about this size. I said out loud "ok little guys....where's your parents??" In about 25 minutes I boated 3 this size... At 215 it was time for me to head back to the launch and head home. It's great living this close to Scugog....even though I don't really like the lake, I'll fish there more this summer and see if I can figure it out!
  4. Awesome!!! It appears she's a natural!!
  5. Awesome suggestions guys! Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the replies guys! Much appreciated!
  7. Hey everyone! I have a good friend who is looking for a good bass/walleye/pike lake with campsites. It doesn't have to be a provincial park with all the amenities. It can even be crown land. He also has a boat and can haul his gear to an island or boat access site only. The only ask is that it's within a 3 hour drive of Toronto. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  8. Thanks again everyone! Hoping to beat that one this year!
  9. Lew....I bought my first suick because I read on the board that you said they worked!!
  10. 8 to 10 feet of water with some weed growth was where we had luck. Hope you got a few!
  11. Thanks everyone! Was definitely a thrill to fight and land that fish!!! The suick is my go to lure! It's caught me more Muskies than anything else. I told Will that if I ever lost it, I'd probably cry. Lol
  12. Fishnsled and I had planned to fish today. We didn't know what we were going to target but we knew we wanted to get out and fish! Because of the winds, we decided Lake O fishing was out so we decided on going for some Muskie in the Kawarthas. With a cold front and 25km/h winds we were saying it may be a tough day out there. We got to the launch at 8am and searched for some Muskie waters. It was a chilly 8c!! I was throwing my go to lure...a suick...when at around 820am as it's getting closer to the boat I see these huge jaws clamp around it! I set the hook but somehow it didn't take...Fishnsled turned just in time to see the splash it made and it dove back for cover. A few casts later, the lure had just hit the water....a few sweeps of the bait and BAM!!! Another one hit. This one was hooked well and it ended up beating my old 41.5" PB. This one beat my old PB by 1.5" and came in at a solid 43"! Here's the release shot... A while later, Fishnsled gets on the board and does a quick release boat side... Things slowed down after that and we were off the water by 2pm. Always a great time fishing with you Fishnsled!! Even better when we boat a few nice fish!
  13. Wow. That's fabulous!!! My favourite picture was of the big smile on his face in the boat. A lot of planning and heart went into making the trip happened and it definitely paid off. Great stuff dad!!
  14. Happy Birthday Will!! Had a great day out on the water as usual!
  15. Suicks are my go to lure....but I hooked by biggest musky ever on a Jake on Lake Nipissing!
  16. Looks great! That's my next task as well....just need to be able to get to my boat in the garage!!!
  17. Eat it? Ugly Pike? Uh oh....
  18. This shot is from April. 6th...be interesting to see the next shot after the warm weather this week! Just need a clear day! You can check daily here..... http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.php?region=o&page=1
  19. I used to cheap out on rainsuits....then I puchased a guide series (Goretex) jacket from Cabelas. The jacket works great but I still had cheap pants and was soaked the last time I fished in the rain. I finally bit the bullet and bought the matching bibs from Cabelas.
  20. I was bracing for freezing rain and 5-10cm of snow. Woke up to this....
  21. I have one tackle box for fishing....one single tray for each type of fishing (tray for jigs, one for bass, one for small/medium cranks and one for deeper trolling cranks), except 2 for musky. All fits into one box! I have a waist pack, where I keep all my steelhead trib gear and a small zip up bag for plastics...that's it!
  22. I can't wait either Will!! Hint hint. Lol
  23. http://www.bigbearcamp.ca This is on Horwood lake and the site has tenting rates. Do a google search for launches...I found a few that way. Hope that helps and good luck!
