  1. I'm very sorry to hear this news...our thoughts are with you...and his family and friends. My brother is going through the same thing with his wife. She's only 39.....and has complained about stomach pains for the past 3 years. She kept going to the Dr to complain and they told her there was nothing wrong. I got a call this past week from my brother saying that she went again....they finally ordered tests and it's confirmed she has stomach cancer....not sure if it's spread at this point. She's due for surgery in a few weeks...which is never a good sign that they get you in that fast. We still are not sure of prognosis, but it's another example where if they took her seriously the first few times she may not be in the same urgent situation she's in now. Take care Pikehunter. 2. Yeah...if you can afford it, go for it! Korg has a cheaper version that is really good for the money and is only half the price. I've used the Korg before and would get that if I had to make the decision again.
  3. Yep...music is big for me too... Fender semi acoustic Ibanez Roadstar II electric Yamaha acoustic Peavey Amp 1 Boss pedal 1 Effects pod No name bass guitar for recording Most of the stuff (minus the effects pod and bass) are over 20 years old and just as good today as when I bought them.
  4. WOW!! Great job!! More inches for the team Congrats on a PB....that's a nice chunky pike you got there....I'd say it's around 12 pounds.
  5. I have to agree with Raf. If he's not into it there is no use forcing him. My brothers were athletic and played soccer, baseball and hockey...and even golf. All sports my dad was into. He even coached their teams. I played a few years of hockey and tried golf, but I wasn't really into it. He tried to get me excited about it...and I really wanted be excited...I wanted nothing more than to have my dad proud of me, but the passion just wasn't there. Is he into other sports or in a competitive environment? If not, then it could be a self confidence issue. If he sees you being serious about it, then he may back down because he doesn't want to disappoint you. Then again, he could just not like it...plain and simple.
  6. Come on!!! Jeez...ONE time I spill a few hooks and pieces of split shot and you don't let me forget it.... LOL
  7. I don't know and I want to keep it that way.
  8. Lunch Snacks Lots of water. Rain gear - just in case. Fishing License I'd just use my partner's tackle...esp if it's his mystery lake. I'd try to go light.... - Tray of jigs and fav plastics - Tray of spoons and inline spinners - Box of larger spinner baits. - Tray of cranks that dive from 3 to 10 feet. - Tray of terminal tackle.
  9. Hmmm....will have to think that one over....LOL. Maybe I'll have to do another song...to the tune of AC/DCs "Big Balls" and work it in that way.
  10. Steve...check out this link for shot gun clauses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_clause
  11. I get to vote 3 times here at the office and 3 times from home every day I just happen to have a ton of email addresses....LOL.
  12. Wow.....and this is why you catch tons of bass and I dont!!! I have so much to learn!!!!
  13. Economical Price conscious Value Savvy Budget minded Maximizing investment Nah...maybe you are just cheap... I do the same with pinkies for trout and panfish....
  14. When I was 13, my tackle box had a few red and white bobbers, about 3 hooks and a few pieces of lead shot. And it stayed that way until I was 36....LOL.
  15. I dont want to see anyones balls that have been manhandled that many times by different people. Actually...I don't wanna see anyones else's balls.....
  16. I have a canoe and have fished from it. I made a home made stabilizing arm and I'm not 100% comfortable fishing in it. It's also not easy to put on top of your car after a long day of fishing if you are alone. If space is an issue (if you are in an apartment and have no room for a canoe), then get what is best suited for you. I've looked at inflatables and would love one to use in local areas where boat launches are not readily available.
  17. I hear you John, and if I used them in warm weather, I'd get new ones. I only use them to fish for steelhead from October until March....waters are quite cold. I don't feel constricted when wearing mine and I'm actually quite comfortable in them, even when fishing all day long. Perhaps I'm lucky...LOL.
  18. More great carp adventures! Spawning is abound in our area too, so not much to show for the last few outings. Great report and pcis as usual MJL...it's real dedication on your part to lug all that gear around on public transportation to get to your fishing holes. Well done!
  19. Braided line is much thinner than mono for the same line strength. For example, 30 pound power pro is about the same diamter as 8 pound mono. I like braided lines for a few reasons... 1) No stretch (mono has quite a bit of stretch), enables you to detect hit more easily 2) If you fish in weedy areas, you dont have to worry as much about line break..the line will just rip thru those weeds. 3) Smoother casting. Braided line wont "coil" up on you because it has no "memory" when it's on the spool. Others prefer mono line, for their own reasons, but for me, for casting and retrieving, braid is what I prefer. For jigging I actually like mono line...it's less visible in the water and I don't have to cast with it. Good luck! Hope to see a fish filled report soon!

  21. You're welcome Workwear! Great pics...he looks like one happy guy!
  22. I only use them when fishing tribs for trout. I don't have breathable neoprenes...just the cheap PVC ones with insulated boot from Canadian Tire. I found that what you wear under them is very important. Your first layer should always be something that will wick sweat away from your body, or you'll feel wet from the condensation that forms on the inside.
  23. If Pike are on your agenda and you are using mono line then, wire leaders are a must to add to your list. You are doing well on your list...the only thing I'd change up is the line....I'd go at least 20 to 30lb power pro. Casting 10 or 12 lb mono line will be tough...especially for lighter lures. Get basspro to spool your reel for you if you are not comfortable doing it yourself. Also to keep in mind. Simple float, hook and worm (and splitshot) shouldn't be overlooked....it'll catch you all kinds of fish.

  25. So if you are boatless, can I assume you are fishing from shore? If so, then early morning and late evening/night will probably be the best times to fish. Bass, Walleye and Muskie are in this lake, but the big boys likely wont be near shore during high sun. I have a few friends who have trailers on parks on Chemong....the fishing is pretty good overall there. It's likely not the best Kawartha Lake, but, it holds it's own. I'm fishing there this weekend...will post a report on Sunday.
