  1. NO negatives Pete...just asking simple questions. Many seem to think they are going to get rich off it and the "thrill" seems to end there. I'm just asking what they really think they are going to get if they indeed tip the record weight scale and who's bait they are going to lie they caught it on...ie who do they think has the deepest pockets in the industry? I've been browings thru Larry Ramsell's "history" of the Muskie, and if you haven't read it...you may think twice about wanting anything to do with claiming you caught a new record.
  2. Also note anyone with an apostrophy in their last name can't renew on line. They don't have a smart enough programmer apparently to avoid the syntax error that generates. I had to renew by mail last year because they couldn't work around that one (and it's 5 minute programming fix) !
  3. Holy crap...a fishing report from Sam !! What's this world coming to... LOL Looked like a great outing fella !
  4. Problem becomes... Not legal to transport a live fish, except for the very few that have a licence to do so.
  5. Everyone keeps saying that! Do you really think there is a big windfall for catching a new record fish? If so how much do you think it is. Who's lures are you going to claim you caught it on, once you hide the real bait, to try and get an endorsement deal? Did Ken O'Brien make anything off his dead fish?
  6. Great stuff Dax !!! 3 weeks left for the season on GBay. Hope to get out at least once more....or two..or three.
  7. No..but I did see two used aluminum livewells..complete with pumps in the Super Shopper, or Tri-ad for $50 !
  8. What is the current postion on the bait ban we started the season with?
  9. Exact reason I think the Georgian Bay district CO, Bruce Ward, should stick his speach up his .....about how you shouldn't be fishing muskie with a conservation licence. Doing so makes it a really easy decission that the monster swims for another day ! He claims his main concern is protecting the fishery and this would insure that even a new world record would swim. I've always said I'd take a picture and release it. Even with my shiney new Sport licence this year... I think I'd still take that tact. Can't see killing her...for the Bull that goes along with it. Just read Larry Ramsell's book and ask yourself if you really need that "thrill" in your life.
  10. LOL... can't be near as bad as a 2 stroke seadoo ripping by your dock at dusk!
  11. I bought 1500 yards of 80 for $63 last year and 1500yds of 30 for $45. Ebay !
  12. This one keeps it's charge well..as well. I have one I leave at the lake all year. So it sits in it's spot at what ever the temp is outside, all winter, and when I arrive in the spring I plug it in to top it up and it's still pretty much fully charged. You'll find the nav lights are a novelty pretty much...but they will get you out of a bind if you have someone strong enough to hold that sucker up while you blast down the lake. The white light should have been put on the opposite side of the red/green..so you still need to hold a mag light up or something at the back of the boat to be (semi) legal.
  13. Here's a more modern one. Guess they're really called airboats...just always referred to as Scoots up here...guess because someone once said.."man that thing sure scoots along" ! lol
  14. Basically a boat with an airplane engine on the back Gerritt. Like an airboat in the everglades..but with a hull designed to ride on the snow/ice. Here's the pic nofish4me sent of a really old one.
  15. You're gonna whip her ass and then ? Is there going to be a video feed?
  16. Ummm sorry...it's changed to + 5C for Sunday 6C for Monday and RAIN! 3 Tuesday 4 Thursday and RAIN.
  17. Yep..lots of scoots up here. F-in-law sold his...the bugger... a week before I bought my place in Temagami in '04. Could use it for sure. As in your picture many got injured because they took engine/prop right of an airplane and put the prop facing forward right above the occupants heads. Pusher props are readily available these days so no reason to do that..and like the swamp/air boats you can also cage in the prop to protect the "challenged" that walk into spinning props. Props don't scare me, or anyone in our family...because we have GREAT respect for them! Fangs nephew has a REALLY nice scoot that he uses, from ice in to ice out, to get his kids to the school bus each day on Lake Temagami.
  18. If you keep going out on GBay with me Glen...it'll do you just fine! We never get to see the drags get a work out anyways!
  19. I think Terry has the easy answer.. and the one time cost of $60 for the big one if I remember right.
  20. Thanks Bernie...definitely one of my fears with it. Maybe I should just stick with a long track sled...or grab a high HP scoot.
  21. 6 degrees Sunday.. 8 on Monday.
