  1. Sinker has a good idea..
  2. We seem to go through this every year here, if your vessel licence does not have an expiry date on it then it is good for ever.. IF you do not move. (as Randy has pointed out and confirmed with TC). Not sure why or what made Fisherman get lulled into renewing his, but he's stuck with the 10 year cycle now if his latest one has an expiry date on it. If not, stop wasting trees! lol
  3. Do you have a twist lock "cartridge" pump attached to transom for live well? Have a good look at it for being loose or cracked. Why I'm adamant about antifreezing them in the fall.
  4. My father smoked 3 packs a day, never once saw him chuck a butt out the window. It got to smolder in the ash tray in the car, just to add to the smoke we breathed in in the back seat. Cars had an ash tray and they were used. My youngest's boyfriend flicked a butt outside the house door ONCE about 3 years ago just before coming in... he'll never do that again! (or I'll drag him to it again!)
  5. Make sure my sister in law treats you well !
  6. The doubler is to hold the cracked area together so it doesn't spread. The extra rivets are to take care of the "working" that area is seeing (although you did hit a dock by the scuff marks).... and I said nothing about welding it, other than it will have 1/2 the strength of original when you're done. Your boat, your choice how to proceed.
  7. So this crack and rivet is on the mating surface to the deck bulkhead flange? Looks like you have full access through that hatch. I can also see the paint appears scuffed as if you scrubbed a dock across this spot. It all adds up to stress and flex and the rivet hole starts the crack as it's already weakened by the hole (and a loose rivet). I'd stop drill the crack, put a small doubler in between the hull and the bulkhead (to rivet around the crack) and add a few more rivets along the length of the bulkhead flange AND do the other side while I was at it. Must be someone close that can help you do the same.
  8. Remember, when you weld aluminum it then has half the original strength it once had.... unless you re-heat treat it. Lifetime warrantee, I've never bothered to read mine other than I know my '07 was transferable. Not sure a '98 would be and if it was I believe the "trail of ownership" has to be registered with Lund as it happens. Worth the call to find out. You have a better overall picture of where this is on the boat Mike? As others have noted it needs more support or more rivets. Looks like they're asking that spot to do too much work.
  9. I also own a plastics plant OI... I understand the cross linked PE issue and can't be bothered to pull up my floor to check since there are no signs of fuel leakage in my boat, as if there was it would have showed up in the bilge by now. I am certain that not a drop of fuel has been spilled on my floor.
  10. My 2007 Lund always has that smell if the tops on and she's been sitting in the sun at the dock. No fuel in the bilge and no signs of any leakage anywhere, so can only chalk it up to exactly what you linked there on permeation.
  11. Just go into CTC and buy one of these for 80 bucks. Clip the wire from motor to battery on the charge circuit, feed this unit from the motor.. original battery on one tap and run a heavy wire from the other output to the trolling motor +. You will have to make sure you trolling motor battery is grounded to the motor / boat as well. Just make sure you put it up somewhere dry or pay the big bucks for a sealed unit. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/automotive/batteries-accessories/battery-maintenance-tools/battery-isolators/120a-battery-isolator-0111816p.html?utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=Default&utm_source=AskAndAnswer&utm_content=Default
  12. She whom must be obeyed! SWMBO
  13. Looks like it pays off to go to church Albert!
  14. Temagami Outfitters use to rent them... if you happen to be driving North via #11 you could pick it up and drop it back off. Haven't been into town this year, so can only assume they're open. 705-569-2595 I see they have a new website, so suspect they're in business this year. Closed on Mondays. http://www.icanoe.ca
  15. That'll buff right out!!! The insurance company totalled the truck for that???
  16. Don't need one at all when it comes right down to it.... it just depends on who wants to get out on the float and give the prop a spin to restart!
  17. Those suggesting topping the battery and then charging, do NOT do that! If they are dead and the acid level is above the plates charge from there and IF needed, when almost fully charged, then top to the rings with distilled water. If the level is below plate tops then just add enough water to get the level above the plates, not to the rings. If you top it first the acid will expand and overfill the battery.
  18. Loontoon just posted what you may be looking for in the Classifieds for 800 bucks! Find a motor for another 600 and you're off to a good start.
  19. Not sure I'd climb into a Beaver with OCD.. but looked like they had things laid out in perfect order for you! Nice trip lads!
  20. You mean here Freshtrax.... this Bascule bridge is above Smiths Falls Detached Lock 31. It's the most upstream lock within the town of Smiths Falls and you can fish from this side the best as boats can't tie up here. Entrance to the park is between the swing bridge and the bridge over the rapids. You can also probably go for a little adventure and walk the track bed to above the dam and shore fishing there if not too overgrown. sonic.. not sure the age of your children, so be aware that there is a lot of fast water through the SFalls lock system. Amazing that myself and the neighbourhood kids never drowned growing up left "loose on the river" or killed playing inside the new hydraulic controlled combined lock when it was being built when we were kids. The big issue with shore fishing is the Rideau is a weed infested mess at the best of times, but it's no where near as bad as it was through the 60's and 70's.
  21. They like deeper water from what I have seen. I can troll all day in 60 FOW and never have one on the line.. drop the balls to 80 to 100FOW and up they come.
  22. My take on it is if the people can't afford or want to pay their repair and storage bill, to get their boats out of hock, then the boat isn't worth the cost of their repairs. Buyer beware!
  23. Been in Lake Temagami for over 15 years..
  24. Is CBSA on work to rule or have they changed the import taxable import limits. 3 months now and numerous items up to $100 thru the mail with no tax collection. Use to be anything over 20 bucks!

Yah it use to be hit and miss... but I've had a few dozen packages and not one has been taxed.

All I can tell you.. seems like a good time to import stuff! Two parcels today.. one clearly marked $189US and the other $379US, no taxes or handling charges.

  25. Pending which side it was off center to... I may have told him to mount it in the original holes he drilled. Too late now, I certainly wouldn't have let him drill twice. Hope he used a huge thick washer to spread that load out from the figure 8 !
