I didn't spend a lot of time on it in the store on the 23rd.. but all I saw was "your pdf only works if you wear it" in the lettering. That said.. who really cares as long as it floats you as advertised. Generally there are regular life jackets / pdf's in the boat to be legal in a spot check anyhow.

A good time to remind people.. that everyone should have an old plug in phone around for when the power goes out. I've only ever had one cordless phone in the past 25 years that worked when the power was out. We have two cheap dollar store hard wire phones in the house for when the power goes out. Unplug the cordless and plug in the cheap phone so people can call you and more importantly you can call out in an emergency. With power outages you can't depend on your cordless... your cell phone or Rogers.. but generally the Bell lines keep working.

Biggest thing I see with my two generators... you can't use them for the house set on auto idle/throttle unless you have nothing but lights or heaters on them . If you are going to run your fridge, freezer, furnace or well pump you need to set the generator to run full out continuous so there is no voltage or frequency lags that are bound to let the magic smoke out of motors and controllers.

Like Entropy says... I don't know how big your house/furnace is.. but if you can run a space heater you probably have enough power to run your furnace blower. Pull the wire to the furnace out of the breaker and neutral bar.... use a couple of marrets to attach the two wires to a 14/3 (or better yet 12/3) power cord from the genny and let your furnace to it's thing. If you need to shut down the generator and restart, just unplug or switch off the load before doing so.

I've already got my Christmas present... and we haven't even hit the tree yet.. still waiting for our son and his gf to arrive. Jen making Grinches!

Great to have ice fishing equipment... what I told my Nephew to go out and buy before his pipes froze.

About the only thing I miss about Consumers Glass Milton... triple time (x $15.85 an hour in 1984).. always had the midnight shift during the season, so I was home at 7am for the kids anyways. We played poker in the furnace control room for about a $100 a hand.

Almost what I was doing tonight for my brothers kid.... but he just got his power at 7:45.. not sure about phone as he only uses a cell. Nephew is on Military Trail and my brother had just text me to see if he could meet me at hwy 9 with my genny.

Was a hard push today.. with 8 or 9" of new snow and 3/4" of ice on top of it. Gonna be a long winter.... already running out of room to push the snow and I started at 3x the width of the laneway pushing it back onto the lawn! Gotta love living 3500 feet South of Georgian Bay on the high point of land!

Still got some Christmas shopping to do Terry... lol

They'll be out for another couple days for many of them by the sounds of it. Nephew just got his power back an hour ago in Scarborough. Saw on a TV, while blasting through the Georgian Mall 2 hours ago, that they were trying to restore power to Sunnybrook Hospital as a priority in the Bayview Ave area.
