after going without power for 5 days last february at our old place with no heat (propane furnance still requires hydro to operate), i made sure the new place had a secondary source of heat (wood stove) + our regular stove is nat gas for cooking. looking at kijiji for a deal on a generator to power the sump, fridge and a couple of lights.

i dont understand the dion hate either. he plays most minutes against the opposing team's best line and is (last time I checked) a +10 on the season. none too shabby if you ask me.

It's interesting Bill but it sounds like there's waaaay more fiddling required. Time is money.. and it's also at a premium these days. the navico solution looks to be way more painless. I'll have a closer look though. Thanks for the link Steve.

cold weather gear varies greatly with activity level you plan on doing -- a sedentary activity like ice fishing requires different clothing than an active one like hiking. start with a good breathable base layer, it's propably the most important one. i like the under armour stuff myself

Anyone on the board use this? I am considering 'upgrading' my rear graph (Elite-5) to an Elite-7 HDI this offseason which has the Insight Genesis stuff.. ability to map uncharted waters and I understand Lowrance has now given us the ability to keep our logs private.. so that's good. I understand you need the $99 yearly sub to be able to download the info back to your graph and without the sub you can log/view just can't download. Just wondering i) your thoughts, how well it works? ii) walk me through the process of being on the water logging the data to uploading to their site, to getting it back onto your graph. no comments about hbird able to do this for free, it'll be a cold day in hell before i switch to hummingbird.

getting a login screen prompt with link

nice bass warrantys are great and all but they are of little consolation if and when you lose your personal best or are 3 hours from home on a fishing trip when the equipment failure occurs. that's why i'd rather go with one of the bigger names and higher priced models, abu, shimano, daiwa.. not that they don't fail but it seems people have far less issue with them.

gamecenter does local/regional blackouts as well. simple to get around it though. i can watch every leaf game whether it's on tsn, leafstv, cbc or sportsnet -- living in ontario on gamecenter live.

Thanks KW is a bit far. Found someone in Fergus.

I've ditched cable altogether and got gamecenter live. every single NHL game this year streamed online for 100. (I stream to a Ps3 hooked up to my bigscreen) there are very simple ways around regional/national blackouts. hockeystreams.com is another option but from what i understand the quality is not as good and it's a bit (a lot) more grey market.

i dont think you'll have many issues with traffic i am not from the area but my daily commute is similar in that i drive (~45 mins to 1 hour tops - 65kms) from grand valley to mississauga all on county roads. other than the occasional school bus or cows that have wandered onto the road.... traffic is not an issue. enjoy getting out of dodge. -
surprisingly kijiji is not turning up much can anyone suggest a local source

Do you have slicks on the back?
-
yes, clarkson, fraser will bring some physical play when they return kulemin, albeit a bit of an enigma offensively is really strong on the wall too and will help in the puck possession game, a place where we've struggled. not sure mclaren will get in the lineup to be honest unless they are playing some big teams

honda doesnt make a truck fwd <> truck
-
if you never got stuck in your fwd van, you wont get stuck in a 2wd truck it sounds like you use good launches and/or dont launch in november, december or march, april i'd still get a 4wd though.
-
even in 2wd mode you're still lugging a significant amount of weight for the 4wd system. however, i can't see the mileage difference between an otherwise same truck being more than 1-2 mpg between a 2wd and 4wd model
-
95% of the time you'll be fine in a 2wd, it's the 5% that's worth the 4wd. in my old jeep cherokee i rarely had to put it in 4wd to pull out a 2500+lb lund but when i had to, I sure was glad i had it.
-
a real test will be this saturday in chicago hopefully jvr will be back, clarkson will still be out. not sure what fraser's timeline is but they could use him back there.

can't be any worse than watching the senators play.
-
looks like carlyle read em the riot act and they're listening playing a good road game with nobody to impress. really playing tight in the 1st period -- minimal turnovers and good defensive coverage they miss fraser on the backend and it will be interesting to see what will happen with the d when he comes back. will they keep reilly and bench gardiner/ranger or send reilly back down
