  1. Isn't there a funniest ice fishing picture contest currently happening? I don't see anything topping this one.
  2. Exactly. For what it's worth a small chunk of tubing pushed down over an open eye spinnerbait will hold your leader in place if need be.
  3. I didn't see the kid do anything to justify that kind of beating. What got me was the cops throwing buckets of water on the blood to wash it away. There's always two sides though, I'd love to hear the explanation.
  4. I don't think anyone goes to these shows for deals, at least not since about 1980.
  5. Fun weekend Chris! Your stove looks like the Red Green deluxe model.
  6. Many many years ago I was fishing below the coffer at Tippy dam on the Manistee when the siren started wailing signaling a water release. I was standing in deep water a fairly long and sketchy wade from the shore and scrambled to reach safety. Still waist deep and with the water rising my foot became stuck on the streambed, I couldn't move. I was in a panic pulling as hard as I could with no success. I almost stripped off my waders in order to free myself then adrenalin kicked in, I pulled with a fury and broke free. When I made it back to shore there was a humongous michigan cricket stuck to my foot LOL! The streambed was littered with them. Thankfully the practice is outlawed now.
  7. If you're willing to drive a little further to Nakina here's a really good one you can your vehicle right up to and be in total seclusion: http://www.nakinaoutpostcamps.com/hanoverlakenakinaoutpostcamp.htm
  8. As long as I'm not flying I consider it a drive to location, but I get what you mean. What you were asking for is more or less impossible though. You stated you wanted it to be the only cabin on the lake and you want to drive your car to it? That's a really tall order. Again, I'd take look at this one as it fulfills most of your criteria. http://www.kanipahow.com/wordpress/category/outpost-camp/embarass-lake/ If you're willing to consider drive to camps where you aren't autonomous, where there are other cabins, then you'll likely get a ton of responses.
  9. Well actually I did that loop years ago, wouldn't do it again. Unless your more of an eco tourist type. Fishing isn't all that great.
  10. Already answered your same question on walleye central.
  11. Anyone else remember Lundboy? I think we found him.
  12. I was walking all over it today with the dog. Not sure how much ice exactly, but it's frozen hard as a rock with almost no snow cover.
  13. What a great experience for your kids. Looks like a great trip!
  14. Nice video and nice river, one of my favourites.
  15. Nice Rick! You're a trooper braving that wind and cold.
  16. I currently have 3 Pflueger reels myself. Two Supreme XT's and a Patriarch. Like them a lot, but in that specific price range I like the Daiwa better. It just feels a bit more smooth and solid. I use the 40 size Patriarch tossing hardware for steelhead and so far it's been just okay. It is super light but the start up on the drag isn't quite as smooth as the Daiwa. Also all three Pfluegers don't take kindly to being dunked in the water. They've all required maintenance (oiling and greasing) after limited amount of use. I do like them a lot, it's just they're maybe a tad less bulletproof than the Daiwa reels and require a bit more care. Just my opinion...
  17. What a slab! Considering where and how you caught it, that's the fish of a lifetime.
  18. Maybe so but that post was inexcusable. In any case if I wanted that specific question answered I wouldn't have asked it here, because as mentioned previously most people on this board simply aren't capable of answering. Not because they're not willing to help! You'd best be served asking your question on the Canada board at Walleye Central. http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7 The membership there are intimately familiar with both LOTW and Lac Seul and I'm positive will be able to help.
