  1. I have flown with both. Both offer good fishing, but between the two I'd give the nod to WRA. Nicer lakes, better cabins and much more interesting terrain. The only reason I don't use WRA all the time is because they're quite expensive. For what they're charging I'll generally drive a bit further and fly out of Nakina instead. If you have any questions about specific lakes shoot me a pm.
  2. Yep, now is prime time. When the water gets colder they won't chase a lure quite as much.
  3. I noticed the sign right away. That's Eddie's (as in Eddienorth) cousin from the Barrie area. Can't believe he dragged that up there LOL! Always wanted to fish Ogoki. What was the outpost like? I'm guessing not overly luxurious.
  4. That's pretty cool, I think that type of combo will definitely have a place in my arsenal at some point. I'm with you on the larger hooks as well.
  5. Wow, that combo must be lighter than air. How's the drag on the Core?
  6. I'm loving your old trip reports Chris, keep 'em coming! Beautifully coloured pike in that lake, wow.
  7. On a related note I had a pretty productive day today.
  8. So you don't wail like 6 year old kid anymore in any water that's over knee deep? Still havn't pinned down my date for late November, mainly because it's kind of out of my hands. As soon as I find out what's going on I'll let you know!
  9. Just to add to the post, here's my thoughts on the topic. I believe using a baitcaster is advantageous because of its versatility and the lightness of the reels. Paired with a suitable rod they're a joy to fish. That said I find float fishing with a centerpin to be more effective in all but the largest flows. I also enjoy fighting fish much more on a long light rod and single action reel. I also fish with hardware a ton which constantly forces me to carry two rods on the stream. A huge pita at times, but that's the way I roll. I don't believe a baitcaster would be as fun or efficient to fish hardware with as my custom 11' CTS and magnesium bodied spinning reel. So the bottom line is unless I'm fishing the Black river at Lake O's east eand, the Genessee in Rochester, the Niagara, or some of the flows in Michigan I'm not fishing a baitcaster. I'm carrying two rods and am usually pretty successful doing so. I can completely understand why someone may choose a more versatile option though.
  10. Billy, for someone who's been steelheading for what, 4 years? You seem to have a lot of strong opinions.
  11. Very cool! And I sincerely hope that digit didn't go anywhere near your drink.
  12. Nice to see you post some pic's Chris! Looks like fun.
  13. Sounds amazing! Yeah once you start comparing prices it's a good deal imo. Even better than you might realize as I was quoted a price considerably less than what's on the website for a 9 day trip. Also the flight to Winnipeg would be free for us and it leaves right from Hamilton where we live. All in all it's looking like a pretty good bet I think.
  14. Cool pic. Happens all the time. I managed this shaky video last June with the help of my 5 year old son Brendan: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WpILOgh2z7I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  15. I saw some real healthy young lasses from Michigan the last time I was at The Alaskan Bush Club in Anchorage.
  16. Was going to mention that, but I didn't think anyone would remember or get the connection. Here it is : http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8695&st=0&p=88741&hl=squirrel&fromsearch=1entry88547 HAHA! Damn straight.
  17. Beat me to it. At least it wasn't blown out of a tree by a huge wind gust right onto Ralphie. That would have been much worse. It was like a scene out of a John Candy movie.
  18. I thought I'd share this with you guys, it's pretty bizarre. I was on my way home from work this morning at 6am, winds were gusting like crazy and trees were downed everywhere. I was about 2km's from home driving on a heavily wooded sideroad, all the while being buffeted by the heavy winds. As I was driving underneath a dense canopy from a huge overhanging oak tree a huge gust hit and a squirrel landed right on my windshield. I almost ended up in the ditch. It was easily one of the more startling things that's happened to me in a while LOL!
  19. What's the problem? She seems to be quite a handsome woman.
  20. Indoor bathroom with hot and cold running water and shower, beds with mattresses, big comfortable boats with floor inserts and 4 stroke motors, and possibly hookers.
  21. Sounds good Harold, but he's definitely not a canoeist, he likes his ammenities. If there was any way he could swing it he'd probably fly in a planeload of hookers too LOL!
  22. I've looked at all of those and more in Manitoba. Some look pretty good, the problem is finding an outpost camp. Big Sand actually has a couple of real interesting outpost camps as does Ganglers in the same area. Only problem is they won't take a booking for two people. Wow, thanks for the lengthy and thoughtful reply Craig! Coming from yourself the endoresment for Munroe is a good one. We'll definitely take a look. Since I've posted this I had someone contact me who's group actually went to the same outpost on the Kazan. This board is truly an incredible resource! Cheers
  23. Awesome trip Bill, wow! Kingpin made a fine choice using Spiel as their builder. I'm looking forward to trying that stick out myself.
