  1. Pregnant..that must be some strong genetic therapy he/she is on...I remember my wife telling me something like that was on Opera once
  2. NItro, There is a general decorum to this forum. Contributors join and introduce themselves, maybe add some comments and maybe post a report or two about the fish that have been caught. We love seeing reports and pics of fish. Generally after someone has contributed to the forum for a bit members are much more likely to share information with each other. As you may well realize, fishing spots, especially good producing spot,s are not shared commonly in a public space, otherwise they will not remain good spots for long. Asking for GPS co-ordinates quite frankly is generally seen as being out of line on a public forum. I suspect that you are either very inexperienced in the realm of fishing forums or you are purposely trying to shake things up.
  3. Nice report. Thanks for painting s vivid picture of the evening.
  4. I know a Leonora. Is he/she a bit heavy set?
  5. Could you post that video?
  6. Thanks. It was a real special memory. I going to have a chance to take my niece fishing for the first time in a few weeks at my father in laws. Hopefully it'll be a memorable day for her.
  7. cool video, thanks for sharing.
  8. A few highlights, Last year catching my first Musky, a skinny 43 incher Yesterday catching my first Steelhead, ad hooking into my first Salmon Fishing in Lake superior provincial park a few weeks ago Last year landing a 40 inch plus Pike at the Toronto Islands A few years ago experiencing consecutive days of amazing Smallmouth action at Lake Memphremagog in Quebec 5 Years ago My uncle taking my brother and I into the backcountry of Nova Scotia chasing Brookies 15 years ago my uncle doing the same with just me 10 years ago my Dad taking me on a fishing trip for Walleye and Pike as a graduation present to the near north in Quebec As a 5 year old catching a dozen perch one day at our cottage on Hamilton Island But the highlight is this: My grandfather taught me how to fish as a young boy. My mom is from Nova Scotia, and she used to pack up my brother and I for a month to head home each summer. When I got there my grandfather would always take me fishing. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away on a fishing trip when I was about 5. After that I never had anyone to really take me fishing while in Nova Scotia. I used to got to the wharf at the end of the cape and once caught a whole mess of smelt. My Uncle would take the to stocked fish and pay ponds every now and then, but no one would really take my. One day when I was about 16 my great uncle came up from New Brunswick to visit for a few days. He and my grandfather were best friends, and great fishing buddies. He was on the fishing trip with my grandfather when my granpy drowned. The boat had flipped, and of course none of them were wearing life jackets. My uncle looked back to see if my granpy was ok, and seeing that he was swimming with a paddle started swimming to shore. When he looked back again my granpy was gone. One of the reasons my great uncle came up was to take me fishing. He showed me all the old fishing holes that he and my granpy used to go to. All the streams, and the roads they took to get to them. He showed my how to fish for them. He was getting on in age, and had to use a walking stick to get around, so walking all those streams with me must have been very hard for him, but he stuck with it. I couldn't help but feel that he thought it was his duty to show me these fishing spots, as my granpy was not around to do it. I think I will always keep this as my top fishing memory of all time. For me this is what fishing is all about. Taking the time to go out with people and teaching were to go and what to do in order to be successful. For me this was almost a religious experience. Thanks for reading, and thanks for starting the topic Musky Mike.
  9. If I were you I would spool up with baid, as it will last longer than mono. Go with power pro, and if you are worried about line visibility attach a leader of a couple of feet, or more of mono, or fluoro if you want to spend a bit more. Don't bother spending extra on the spools of leader material though. What I do is buy a small spool of mono line (they sell them at Canadian Tire). 8 to 10 pound should help you. Tie the leader to your main line with a uni to uni knot or a surgeons knot. If you don't want to use a knot use a swivel to attach the leader to your main line, but you will have to use a shorter leader. A mono leader would be a good choice for you as it floats and you like to use topwaters.
  10. I've been going on an annual camping trip with a buddy for a few years now. I tell the wife that it is a fishing trip, that is why we go so far away. While the fishing is fun the real reason for the trip is to get away from it all and relax with a friend. I have never had great success fishing but have always loved the trips.
  11. Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Thanks for sharing. Those are some awesome fish.
  13. It can get real rough real quick. Check the weather forecast and be vary careful if you are going out in a small boat.
  14. I second a good hook set makes all the difference. I have noticed that lately I have a better feel, maybe because I am using better tackle. As a result I can feel when a fish hits. Also remember that hooksets should be different depending on what type of lure you are using. I generally do not hammer home the hookset, I am firm. I feel that with bass they can have a delicate mouth, and a setting the hook too hard can create a tear in their mouth, which can make it easier for them to spit the hook.
  15. That was awesome...now I just need someone to invent one of those for fishing.
  16. That looked like a great weekend. Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking it might be time for you to pull out the musky gear.
  17. I wish him all the best. Breaking the choke hold that the Block Quebequois held was a huge move that made our country better IMO. One of the best things about moving were I did was that he is me MP. I hope he recovers and is able to help bring back a conscience to Ottawa.
  18. The fisherman or the fish?
  19. I am no expert but I believe one of the main differences between the curado and the steez and core is weight. The later two are made from advanced carbon fibers and therefore lighter than the curado. I would imagine the the components, such as the bearings and gears are of a higher quality in the steez and the core than the curado (less plastic parts, therefore more durable.) In terms of casting distance I cannot help you out as every time I try to really zing out a long cast with a baitcaster I get a birdsnest.
  20. Thanks for sharing
  21. I went up to lake superior provincial park. I caught a few fish, but mostly loved the scenery and the lack of crowds.
  22. Are you using a swivel? I have sworn off fluoro as a main line because of line twist problems.
  23. I have only targeted Musky on Balsam. If you have all the proper gear, including landing and releasing gear, someone should be able to offer some advice. Apparently there is good bass fishing and some walleye as well. If you are going to be fishing with inexperienced anglers I would recommend targeting bass. I can't help you on that one though.
  24. What are you looking to catch. Balsam has a lot of species.
