My neigbour was just over and was sharing a cookbook where they try multiple different cooking techniques and apparently the best way to cook a turkey is to start with the breast down and then turn it over, as this ensures that the meat is evenly cooked. My Turkey is on the grill right now breast down. It will stay there for 3 hours, at which point it will be turned. I will also be basting it every half hour or so. It is covered in a rub, and the sausage, giblet and scallop stuffing will be cooked seperately in the over. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I use a natural gas grill. It is just like cooking it in the oven, but the grill gives it extra flavour. The rub goes on and under the skin, with makes the bird caramelize nicely. I am in the process of preparing the bird right now. It just came out of the brine and I am making the stuffing now. The advantages of natural gas grills make the process a lot easier.

Grill it up on indirect heat in a pan. Put a rub on the turkey to make the skin brown perfectly.

Although this opinion is twisted in the implied assumption that if we were more conservative as a society we would be better off, it does raise a valid point. How many environmentalists would be willing to give up their car? For the record the amount of hormones flushed down the toilet is minuscule compared to the chemical hormones released by the industrial sector into our water. I also think that the public is kept in the dark in terms of how much the products they use damage the world we live in. But that is just my opinion as a somewhat left leaning environmentalist, who by my own admission am not willing to give up my car. I hope you were trying to be ironic by blaming modern progressive women for this problem. I hope you weren't the type of person who watched the meaning of life and had a tear come to your eye during the "Every Sperm is Sacred" bit.

If I were to add a bass combo I have a 6"3" loomis bornzeback rod and a 1000 series stradic that I just love. I use it for everything from senko to small crakbaits, and find that it even has the power to pull fish out from under docks.

I have a Daiwa VIP rod that is ok. Not as nice as my compre. From looking at the specs it looks similar to the Compre but without the lifetime warranty. At that price point I think you are better off with the Okuma EVX rods which also have a lifetime waranty. All I can really say about musky rods is that if you ever buy a legent tournament everything else will feel like crap

Loved the harvest moon. Thanks for taking the time to put t report together.

I'm thinking about breaking out the winch tomorrow in order to slow my presentation down. Last time out I misses a fish on the eight, and I think if I would have slowed things down she may have ate. I am using a conquest currently, and am not burning the blades in, but I think the winch would force me to be just a bit slower. Especially with thge cold front rolling a slow approach may help. What do you musky guys think?

If my boat is sinking and I can only grab one thing it is probably my conquest big nasty combo, but I would be tempted to grab my musky box, as that would be much harder to replace.

That is awesome. I almost always make picks, except for last weekend

I wish I had seen this earlier as I have a few lefty reels that are gathering dust here. They are revo toro's. There is nothing wrong with them, I just prefer shimano reels. If you are looking for another abu record gagnons might still have them in stock.

If the gobies are getting bigger it makes me wonder what would happen if they started eating larger and larger forage. Maybe a sharp decline in minnows in the great lakes and Simcoe. That might effect the health of juvenile sport species. However larger gobies would make for larger mature sport fish. I hope we do not get into a situation where there are a few years of really large, near record size bass and then the population implodes. I also hope that the Musky start eating them on Simcoe. That could help control the population. I would love for that restoration project to be successful, as I imagine massive muskies could be produced in that lake.

That is really cool. I was thinking tiger as well

That's because a hungry musky is an apex predator that will eat anything it wants to. Sometimes when a ski is looking skyward it will eat a topwater even though other appetizing lures may have passed right in front of it. Sometimes a large musky will eat a topwater in the middle of the day not because it's hungry, but because it can. It's kinda like a Chuck Norris thing.

Although the claim that 2 pc rods are of inferior quality to 1 pc rods is a generaliztion, I find that 1 pc rods are more senstive than 2 pc rods made of the same material. If I did not have a reason to break a rod down I would choose a 1 pc rod over a two piece.

Thanks for putting this report together. It was a great read.

I am with Sinclair on looking for used gear, you will get more bang for the buck. I used to be all over the place in terms of reels, but then I started buying shimano reels. Then some of my other reels (ones made by pure fishing) needed repairs and I had a lot of trouble getting parts, even finding places where I could get the parts. If I need parts for a shimano reel I can always stop in at the factory in Peterborough and get it, that is not an option for other manufacturers except for rapala. I am not exclusive to shimano, but if they have a reel in the price range that I am looking for I will buy a shimano over any other company. I do not fathom why someone would spend 100+ $ on a reel if it cannot easily be fixed if it is broken. If I was just starting out and wanted to buy a new setup I would seriously probably get a shimano citica and pair it with a shimano compre. The rod has a lifetime warranty and if you decide to sell it you could get a decent amount of your money back.

I would not hesitate to throw a topwater lure at any time of day, out of any position in the boat, but that is just me. Really nice and fat fish.

At least with the lockout he has a while to wait before his hopes are dashed.

Some really nice fish. It's been a good year for handlebarz producing big fish.

Fluro carbon line vs Flurocarbon leader
Gregoire replied to davey buoy's topic in General Discussion
I have one spool on a reel spooled up with fluoro as a mainline. I would use this line only for fishing deep clear lakes. Otherwise I prefer braid with a fluro or mono leader. I like to tie the leader directly to the mainline. For musky fishing I use leader material line. For bass fishing I just use regular line. I really only think that having a fluoro leader only matters in clear water bodies, and fluoro mainline is only necessary for vertical presentations in 10-40 feet of water. -
nice fat fish. good job

Greatest Freaking Muskie Video Ever Close Encounters

I'm especially glad he didn't catch that fish if it was over 60 cause then he'd have to be the first to catch 100 over 60 -
Greatest Freaking Muskie Video Ever Close Encounters

I'll watch the show and I've seen the footage before. A bit of an overblown claim in my mind. If I won't to see fish porn this is a good show. If I want to learn how to catch more and bigger fish I much prefer the musky hunter. -
I second the power handle. I tried pulling the without the power handle and found that my winch was much easier. Now that I have the power handle I have no need for my winch. I just keep it as a backup now.
