  1. I have been looking at boat packages this spring hoping to purchase my first boat worth more than 500 bucks.I am currently fishing out of a 14 foot and a 9.9 so it don't take much to impress me When looking at the sales flyers I thought the Legends looked kind of cheap but after going and looking at them I was impressed with the boat. I fish the Bay of Quinte alot but I also like to go to smaller waters up north.I need a boat that I can troll with without buying a kicker, has enough room to take a kid or two out with me,has a casting deck, console and a live well.It is priced at $12,999 with a 50 hp 2 stroke motor and loaded ready to fish.I don't care about speed as long as the boat gets up on plain with 3 or 4 people in it. Anybody have one or fish out of one?Looking for impresions of the package. The other boat I have been looking at is the Lowe 165 SC.Same motor and specs other than it has a 2 inch wider beam and is $14,500. Is the Lowe $1500 better? Thanks Wes
  2. As always a awsome report! You are living a dream man!
  3. I use a shotgun on all days it is legal to do so but on Sundays it is the Excalibur and slicks for me.Like Big Cliff said the key to getting a Turkey is to get out there but sometimes the only days I have to get out there is Sundays. No Sunday gun hunting in my area yet
  4. Love it! That song would make a great intro song for a fishing show.
  5. I use the same as ch312 , slickticks and zwickeys.Any quality broad head will work but you should but a zwickey or some other type of stopper to get the bolt to stay in the bird unless you are only going to take head or neck shots.I like the "Texas heart shot " myself
  6. Congrates Can't go wrong with a Lund or a Yamaha.
  7. I can't find a mix ratio on the 1990 merc 9.9 I bought anywere. So I called the guy I bought the motor from and he said 40:1.That seems very rich to me . My dads 1990 Evenrude is 100:1 and my old 1968 Johnson is 50:1.I realize it is better to be a little rich than lean but this motor will be doing alot of trolling so it will run like crap if its to rich. Thanks Wes
  8. Duhh! Yep that works guys.Same as my omc motors just without the lever.I was looking so hard for a lever I never thought to just lift it up farther and see what it did. Thanks a bunch guys.
  9. All three affect the way I fish but I only get limited chances to fish so I go no matter what.
  10. I like pp on every thing except my ultra-lights.When it turns white I just run it threw a wax china marker. It is recoloured and recoated with wax and good as new.I tried the stren superbraid on my one spining reel last year and I had nothing but problems with tangles and some unexpected break-offs.So i'm back to pp only.
  11. I will be into the store to make a donation this week Sam. Wes
  12. I just bought a 1990 merc 9.9 with no manual.I have always had OMC motors and I need some help figuring this merc out .The OMC motors have always had a lever to flip to raise and lower the motor up and down and this merc don't.It unlocks when it is put in gear so you can lift it up but I can't find a release to let it back down.If I reach around behind it I can flip the catch up and let it down but I'm thinking there should be a better way. Thanks Wes
  13. Hi Fishergirl...this is not duber but Duberswife. I am a PSW and I do love my job. I have been a PSW for the past 10yrs. But have just gone back to work after having 6yrs off with our children. I work in the homecare end of it and love the flexibility, I do not work any evenings or nights(thats dubers job). And I am home when the girls get off the bus. I do find it very rewarding, and I have been told time and time again from ppl that they could not do my job,and that it takes a very compasionate, caring individual to be able to do the job.You can get the odd cranky one but the sweet elderly ones by far out weigh them. Like douG said you have to be able to cope with the fact that they will pass away, or become more ill. But there are also the ones who have just had a surgery and you are there to help them until they are back on their feet and that too is a great feeling. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
  14. Hard to pick just one.So here is three. One with each of my favorite girls. And one of my favorite sienery shots.
  15. Nothing better than those late ice perch! Thanks for the report and happy eating to you.
  16. I can't come up with anything that hasn't already been said. You are the king of reports mb.Thanks and all hail the king
  17. Sorry to hear about your pup Maureen. They become a part of you and its hard when you lose them. Take care and remember the good times. Wes
  18. Please note that I live on the Bay of Quinte.Walleye over 24 inches are the norm in the winter .I will keep only one or two if they are the smallest I catch but if I catch some nice 18 inchers first they are supper and the larger ones swim again. Its a real bummer to try to keep them 30 inch walleyes of the hook
  19. I keep the smaller ones if I can get them.Nothing over 24 inches. But I am just as happy to get a nice pike or some panfish.
  20. You are the report king moosebunk . Thanks mang!!!
  21. Lets see if I can get a fishermans view on this. Lets say a gangbanger robs a gas station using a 7 foot long fishing rod.He pokes the attendent in both eyes threw the saftey glass , blinding the attendent and gets away with the cash.Of course he tells all of his gangbanging buddies about how well it works.Next thing you now all of these gangbangers are using fishing poles to get their cash to buy all their "bling-bling" and BMW's.So the liberals in there ultimate wisdom decide to ban all fishing poles over 6 feet. The general public says "well you can catch fish with a 6 foot pole you don't need a 7 foot pole".Same deal, you are penilizing honest sportsmen and you have just lost a tool in the sport we all love.We can get by without it but it starts to ruin the sport.
  22. I only replace it if it looks like it needs it.Usally lasts me a couple years.I found a good use for the used stuff.I use it as thread for sewing up ripped work clothes ect.Makes for unrippable repairs.
  23. Now it's semi's next it will be pumps then all repeating guns. When will these brain dead people in Ottawa pull there heads out of that warm place they keep them and realize that we have to fight criminals not guns.I'm so sick of being penalized buy a goverment that is to spinless to make some laws that will actually fight crime.Make the penalties tougher and you will reduce crime.Life sentence for any crime comitted with a firearm would be a start. The money wasted on the registry would have but alot of criminals behind bars. There's my little rant on the subject.
  24. I feel for you.I tried to book a site at Bon Echo last week that we picked out last year.We had 6 sites picked out and when the day to book came there was 1 of those sites left. After working till 4:30 am I got back up at 6:50 and got the site up and ready. When my computere truned 7:00 am I started the process to book the site we wanted.Because I'm on dial-up by the time I got the info threw the site was gone. There were 2 other sites in the area we wanted.Again by the time the info went threw both were gone. I then booked the only site left in the other area of the park were we didn't want to be.Atleast we did get a site but it is listed as a poor site with poor privicy.I'm not sure how they could make it anybetter when there is so much demand.
  25. To find some hut operators and some more info on the bay go to quintefishing.com You could get ahold of Ron at Skevys or Sam at Carra's Outdoors to see if they can set you up with a hut and or a guide. They are both members on this board.I could hook them up with a hut but I wouldn't be able to help them with the fishing as I have to work.
