  2. What Cudz said sums up my thoughts exactly.
  3. Anyone mention that you can cover water with a baitcaster faster than a spinning real.I like both but if I need to find fish fast I'll pick up my curado.
  4. Bass season is almost on us.My goal this year is to be able to catch BIG larges with some cosistancy.I have no problem catching 1-3.5 pound bass here on the BoQ but I struggle to break that 4 pound mark.My best day last year was 3 over 4 pounds but that is the exception not the rule for me (texas rigged 4 inch tubes).I have used bigger baits (10 inch worms & dinngers etc) but still catch the same size bass.Just wondering what everyone does to target big bass.
  5. Catch and release kills some fish as well.So don't fall to hard off that horse when that terminally injured bass or walleye comes floating by your dock and is wasted (against the law) because it is against someones moral standards to keep a fish. Come to Belleville and take a look along the shoreline after a few weekends of catch and C&R bass tourneys and you will see more dead 3-5 pound bass being eaten by seagulls than most people will keep in a lifetime of eating fish. If you choose to only C&R thats your choice but don't preach to those that don't.
  6. Have to agree with Moosebunk on this one.I practice C&R alot but I also will take enough to feed my family on occasion.Bass , walleye , crappie, pike , trout , perch , bullheads , bluegill , I am a equal opprtunity carnivor. As for the original topic, I have already made the switch to smaller bass here on the bay when both are open.Seems to be way more 1 1/2 pound bass than walleyes on the bay these days.
  7. I have the same motor.I run regular gas from all the most popular places (Petro,Shell etc) and use stabilizer as well. The regular gas is the highest volume gas sold so it is the "freshest" gas at the pumps. No problems so far.If you don't have a manual I can give you the info you want out of it.Just pm me.
  8. Go out HWY 33 (Bath Road) to the Hydro Plant in Bath and fish the warm water discharge. You may catch any thing from a brown to a carp.
  9. Wish I was going!I missed them here in Belleville.Ricky is my role model .
  10. Thanks guys.He got the call to pick it up in 2 weeks. They say the river is open put alot of crap floating in the water right now. Can't wait to see it.She looks like a beauty in the pictures.I think Alumacrafts are a top of the line boat.
  11. Just wondering if the ice is on its way out on Nippising yet.My buddy bought a new Alumicraft up there and has to wait till they can test his boat before he can pick it up.He don't say much but I'm sure he is going bonkers waiting for that magical day when he can go get his new boat.We have been fishing open water down here for 2 weeks now and I'm sure thats not helping much. Thanks
  12. I'll watch it.My fav episode was when he had the stag fishing party for his buddie on that little bass pond.Even had a couple "entertainers" in a boat fishing. Now thats the real deal. Some how I'm not sure I learnt any new techniques from that show but I had a smile on my face while watching.
  13. I have a 2007 Merc 50 2-stroke and have had not a problem and am very happy with the motor for the price (so far).I like the fact of more power with less wieght. It will troll all day and not load up or even hick-up.Good luck with your choice.
  14. I like to have the board stay attached and reel up to the board and take it off. Also I like to run "tattle flags".If you have them set right you can see if you get a small fish or even pick up a weed.I'm not sure if you can get them for the boards you bought but I would say they are worth the money if you can.Even without them you can tell fairly easy that you have a fish on.Just watch them closely for the first bit and take note of were they are runing compared to the boat. If you catch a big sheepshead you can watch them skip across the water!
  15. I used my buddies last year and was very impressed. It was smoother than the more exspensive one I bought.
  16. I bought the LMS 520 from radioworld for $575 at the show as well.Best deal I've found on them for sure.
  17. I really like the show.We got there at 8;00am for the walleye master angler seminar with Gord,Ted and Jim.It was very good.We got to take in Jim Sarics muskie show and listened to Italo,Ron and Leo,Babe and Dave. Were else can you see a line up like this for 12 bucks. The master angler seminars are worth twice that alone. We left at 4:30 so that was 8.5 hrs of thinking about nothing but our favorite pass time for 12 bucks. As far as the deals go I saved some cash ( $150.00 ) on a new LMS-520 with great lakes chip and ram mount from radio world. So I can't complain about that either. All in all I had a great time!
  18. Guess old ways die hard!So will his bussiness if he don't turn things around. Too bad I thought he got the point.
  19. Good to hear. Sounds like Ron is trying to turn things around.Hope he does.Customer service and a friendly atmosphere is number one for me.A fish or two can't hurt either.
  20. I only offer my experience and opinion. What you do with it is your choice.
  21. We went with Anglers Haven last time we were up and had a much better time.Good people, good accomadations and a few fish to boot. Snowfari called me up to rebook the next year too. I'll take up knitting first!
  22. Yep I was sucked in by his proffesional and well put together website a few years ago and had the same crappie service and the greedy atitude from the owner.I'm suprised he is still in business. What a joke his whole opperation is.We never caught any fish but that is not a big concern if the guy would at least make a effort to be friendly and helpfull. It was like we should feel honored to be there is his crappie little operation. Luckly there is some good operators on the Nip.
  23. I haven't lost much personaly but my hut has been the scene of some miss-adventers.My buddy lost a cell phone and a hunting knife in the same day.My kids like to come out to the hut for a fish but they really like to have a hot lunch done on the little stove in the shack. It is the highlight of the day for them so you can just picture how happy they were when the middle daughter knocked the package of hot dogs down the hole. They sink slow but faster than i could react.Perhaps the best story is when I had some buddies from work come out.We didn't catch any fish but stayed out till midnight.I had lent one guy my other friends rod and buy the end of the night there wasn't much fishing being done .The next day I head out to the hut for the afternoon fish and after cleaning up we noticed that the rod I lent out is missing. We thought maybe buddy took it home by misstake no big deal.So we set-up to do some fishing.I get the vex out and my buddy sends his aqua-view down the hole and there laying on the bottom is the rod that I had lent out.I put on a big spoon with the biggest hook I could find and tried to catch it.Couldn't do it so I set my rod down to cook some venison sausage. After the sausage I pick my rod up and low and behold the rod that is submarine is hooked onto my big spoon. So I reel it up grab it and start reeling it in.Well it pulls back and after a good fight I haul in a 10 pound pike .Not sure when or how the pike got caught but he ended up on the ice anyway.
  24. No safe ice left on the Bay.I would head north.
