  1. some nice fish you guys got into! Good to see scugog producing! Cheers!
  2. a report now will most likely cahnge come august when you go up. it may be better to call a local bait shop a week before you go up. When i go to new fishing areas i always drop 20-30 bucks at a local bait store and they always give me tips on whats biting and whats working. Cheers!
  3. its not called a perch over in the uk, i cant think of the name of what they call it. Its kind of like the walleye=zander, its a different strain of fish. If that was a north american fish, i owuld sure take up perch fishing lol Cheers!
  4. wish i could make it down there! SOunds like a great time! Cheers!
  5. hey littel angler, My wife is from north bay, so i stay with inlaws. I always fish the south bay/hunters bay because its protected from the winds alot more then the main lake. I used to fish callandar bay once in a while but i find that there is just way to many boats. I know exactly where promised land is. You are in the heart of good pike waters. this time of year you need ot go deeper for walleye. try 20-25 feet of water, you may have ot go a few kms out to get that deep of water. I keep meaning to go for some walleye but the smallie fishing is just to good for me to pass up. Cheers!
  6. Headed out to the south bay of nipissing yesturday. It was raining and it was windy. Needless to say it was a tough tough day on the water. I did manage to boa ta few but it was a hard battle trying to get them to bite. Here she is. She was a littel over 3lbs and 18.5" long Lots of this....Dark clouds sometimes rain somtimes lightning. Needless to say if i heard thunder i headed to the marina. This happened 3 times. Got into a couple of smaller fish like this one before i called it the day. This morning started out cloudy and light rain. Calm though so i maanged to get the drifts i was looking for yesturday. Fish were hitting good today. If you ever see this island on the south bay, i will advise you not to go swimming!!!!!! It is the biggest leech i have ever seen. It was about 8 inches long! Geeeeezzzzzzz a leech made for musky! Not to much later in the morning i spotted these guys. I lost count at 30 ducklings. Is this normal for there to be that many ducklings???? Im thinking mamma and poppa were using some fertility drugs and this is what happens. Then came the bigger smallies!!!! Video Today sure made up for the tough day yesturday! I fished unitl after lunch then the winds picked up to aout 35km/h and on nipissing that means its really rough! I will try again tommorow and hope i can get into some more big smallies! Cheers!
  7. awesome pics other then the snake pics. ewwwwwwww Lol great reports thanks for shairing
  8. i think fishing is better then ever!!!!! Smallie fishing is amazing on most lakes in ontario. Walleye bite has been decent this year from reports i am seieng on here and hearing out on the water. Musky are healthy, and there are almost to many pike in most lakes. There is actually less pressure now then 10 years ago. Check out the star articale from the fishing news section on this board. http://www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/449139 I would say that this article is pretty acurate. Which means less pressure, however it also means less money for the resources but the fishing has been great this year from what i have witnessed. Cheers!
  9. too bad about the pike not biting but looks like you guys made the best of it. cheers!

  15. smallies, pike and walleye for sure. i was told years ago in the 60's and 70's that the whole moon river was filled with 10-15 pound walleye, better fishing then the BOQ, there still their im sure just not like the so called old days. i know there are musky there a friend of mine brags to me every year that he has caught them from shore in the fall by the damn. cheers!

  22. I have always questioned the record books as far as how they keep there records. I know that many years ago it wasnt possible to take pictures and get record fish certified. Now a days as im sure beats is going to find out with his crappy it is a long legal process to get his record fish certified. I think although a pain in the butt for beats it is a good way to insure its a real record. My question is there are some real issue with some of the current records. The smallmouth bass 9.84 pounds was caught where nobody witnessed it. There are no pictures of it. Nobody weighed it other then the guy who caught it and the bait shop in town claimed it as a record fish. You know how bait shops can embelish fish stories to get people to come to there town. Happens all the time even today. The large mouth is the same thing. There are no official documentaiotns of it. No pictures, no legal documents. I think preston lake is actually a private lake too? How does that work lol Maybe a Bull story to raise property value? The walleye is 22+++ pounds caught decades ago. Maybe it was a salmon and the angler just didnt know the difference? SOunds stupid eh? Well just as stupid as us reconizing it as a record fish that has no documantations. The musky is most likely the most legit record as there was many people on the moon basin that day that saw the fish, witness the weigh in and if im not mistaking i think a mnr official was there as well. The monster rainbow trout was caught a few years back and was legit with pictures, inspected scales and legal papers. ANyways im not saying these older record fish dont exist im just saying how can they be sure that they did? take my word for it shouldnt exist in record keeping. No pictures, no certified paper work, i think they should be invalid. Cheers!
