  1. yes i was thinking the same thing about being spawned out. the scappier ones i was thinking were males. i released all my fish, so if males were still protecting there nest i hope they made it back ok. only one fish was out of the water for more then a couple minutes. cheers!
  2. Arrived at the inlaws late afternoon friday. Went to the south bay started to fish at about 7pm, scoping out some bass waters, for todays opener. if i caught a bass i would leave but remember the area to fish today. Ended up catching a few small walleye and small pike. Was on the water at 5am this morning. First fish of the morning! Super long at 19inches but skinny. Same fish different view, was 3lbs 0oz Very next cast, this guy fought like a 4 pounder. Until it jumped then i realized its just acting big lol 1.5Lbs Then i saw this tree and new it had to have a bass holding close to it. I was right it had this beauty smallie, 20 inches 3lbs 4oz Here comes the darker clouds, and rain. Light at first, i changed, put on warm cloths and a ripped rain suit lol Fish really got on the bite when the rain started, 2lbs 5oz 2 pounds 6oz twins 2 casts in a row Another long 19.5 inch but skinny fish. 1oz shy of 3 pounds I did mange one more 3 pounder and 2 more 2 pounders but it was raining so hard i didnt dare take the camera out. I was totally soaked head to toe! the wind picked up and it got colder. Then the fish shut down. Not a bite in a hour of trying in terrible down poors! There was a gentleman out on the water with a radio and he had a report of thunder in the area so he kindly warned me and that was good enough for me. I was cold, wet and on cloud nine from the best opening day for bass i have had in years! Overall I lost count at 17-18 fish, most likely made it to 30 though. Funny thing is most big fish were long and skinny. the smaller ones were short and fat. What a great way to spend a rainy morning! Hope it stops so i can hit the water tonight! Cheers!
  3. was on nipissing at 5am, rained light until about 9 then it poored, heard thunder adn headed in. will post report later today, great fishing! cheers!
  4. am in north bay now. fished the south bay tonight and got into 5 or 6 small pike. Went out to about 25 ft of water looking for walleye. oouldnt find any other then one small one, went back and caught 2 more pike very small. Missed one decent sized one. It was a beautiful night! No wind, wish tommorow will be the same for bass!!! Cheers!
  5. have not been there in a few years but used to get alot fo largies in that little lake there. if the fishing has gone down hill then obviously the no spring fishing failed. Cheers!
  6. with the moist spring you can expect bug season to be terrible this year all over ontario. cheers!
  7. if i knew of any i certainly would give them to you. sorry not from the area but hope you can find what your looking for. all the best with your illness! Cheers!
  8. if i knew of any i certainly would give them to you. sorry not from the area but hope you can find what your looking for. all the best with your illness! Cheers!
  9. good for the fish lol. i can totally see it though. talking to some family from the north bay area the marinas are slow and suffering. Gas is at an all time high, boats are exspensive to buy. Aluminum boats used to be the inexpensive way to get out on the water now your looking at almost 8-10 grand for new boat with a 25 horse power motor, add the gas to get you there and all of a sudden you are looking at 400-500 bucks for a weekend trip in bait, gas meals and maybe a decent place to sleep not to mention the monthly payment on your boat. It seems like most people are stayng in and spending money on home thertres rather then the great outdoors. so good for the fish but bad for the fishing resorts, bait shops small fishing towns that really need the tourism. Add the canadian dollar at par with the us and there goes the value americans used to get when they came up here. Good and bad news here, you decide for yourself which you think it is. Cheers!
  10. what a dumb --- for a 20 pound fish to boot? wow hope people learn from this guy cheers!
  11. wow that is an awesome crappie, i dont fish them often but sure would if i could get into them that size! cheers!
  12. top water sure is fun, personally i rather fish topwater at night where your forced to set the hook by weight rather then site. it is super exciting to see a bass hammer a topwater lure during the day though. as for speed of retrieve? it varies each day i find. you have to adjust to the fish. cheers!
  13. thats sooo awesome! My wife is fishing with me for the first time in a few years in a couple weeks. hope she gets into some like your wife did! thanks for the report! cheers!
  14. My guess is they will be hitting hard before the storms but most likely it will be a battle to get them to bite after. I will be on nipissing and its suppose to just rain for 4 days straight so not sure what to expect up there. Cheers!
  15. yeah makes sense. Not that we are going to keep anything anyway but just in case. THanks! Cheers!
  16. My wife and I are going camping the 4th-6th, she does not have a fishing license. I dont think she is going to go fishing the rest of the year so im not sure if its worth her getting one or not. ANyway, question? Is this the family weekend sport or conservation regulations? Thanks to anyone who may know! Cheers!
  17. thanks for the report! To bad the fish were not biting better! Cheers!
  18. i will be on the south bay of lake nipissing sat-monday. can't wait! Cheers!
  19. my experience is your paying for the name on the rod not the actual rod. I found this out with Bob izumi spinners, exact same ones without his face on it was 2 buck less. Be careful when our buying an endorsed product like that. It may be a great rod but you may be able to find the same one cheaper without the big name on it. Cheers!
  20. ask her politly for id and if she refuses then tell her her to call the cops on you. if she wastes there time you can bet it will be the last time that happens cheers!
  21. or hit the niagara river. mulit species and loads of fun. Cheers!
