  1. Please remember that 401 Eastbound is still closed near Grafton because they have to replace the highway there. Current delays due to the detour are 3 hours. Westbound, on the way home, is clear, except for the necessary rubbernecking in the same area, mebbee 1 hour additional travel. Tight lines and good luck to Gerritt et al.
  2. Grow up yourself, and see how you like it, but not intended at Clampet. ( I am just trying to sound edgy and clever here, a little help ? ).
  3. C: Dad, how come old photographs are always black and white? Didn't they have color film back then? D: Sure they did. In fact, those old photographs ARE in color. It's just the WORLD was black and white then. C: Really? D: Yep. The world didn't turn color until sometime in the 1930s, and it was pretty grainy color for a while, too. C: That's really weird. D: Well, truth is stranger than fiction. C: But then why are old PAINTINGS in color?! If the world was black and white, wouldn't artists have painted it that way? D: Not necessarily. A lot of great artists were insane. C: But... but how could they have painted in color anyway? Wouldn't their paints have been shades of gray back then? D: Of course, but they turned colors like everything else in the '30s. C: So why didn't old black and white photos turn color too? D: Because they were color pictures of black and white, remember?
  4. I vote for the Raptors, some really nice people there, and I think that we should cheer on those boys that actually grew up in Toronto. My 2 c.
  5. Don't know much about Cat Island lodge, but my crew is going to Booi's Lodge on the same lake in July. I see you are new to the board, but you should figger out how to send a personal message, and address it to one of the members who calls himself Tennessee Guy. He is very familiar with the area and may be able to share some experiences with you about your lodge. Good Luck, and send pictures!
  6. Sink the sub? Hide the weasel? Park the porpoise? Bit of the old humpty dumpty? Little Jack Horny? The horizontal mambo? The bone dance, eh? Rumpleforeskin? Baloney bop? Hmm?
  7. I think they oughta call it 'The HyperBole'. It's way over the top and the jingoism gets stale real quick.
  8. I'd like to see the same experiment with a small BadBoyz jig and a 2 in twister tail. Icefisherman and I were fishing for perch in late December off Georgina island in 12 feet of gin clear water. I thought that the BB jig generated a lot more interest.
  9. When we get to four, let me know. I've always wanted to have one.
  10. Nice report, Clampet, and the snapshots are welcome, too. Thanks.
  11. Great to have you back, Ry. Things are a little different but mostly the same.
  12. Very nice Lew. Is the bottom set into the sides and are the vertical corners butted, lapped, mitered or rabbeted? Finger joints or dovetails would be just too too. Just curious. Regardless, very pretty work. Put a handle on the lid and I'll take two.
  13. Congratulations, Kirk, to you and your growing family. I agree with Lew, new people is the best thing in the world. Good luck to Mrs. Kirk too.
  14. Hey, Cowpoke. Sounds like a memorable trip for sure. Good Luck!
  15. Quantum rods, Daiwa spinning reels, abu baitcasters. Nuff. These are the best values around. Pick your price point and your style, and go for it. As for a specific choice, pick a med spinning rod at 7' like the Quantum Pro Tour 704 or 705. The rod is very light with a fast tip and lots of back. It is also very sensitive and my favourite (704). It handles planerboards, bass spinnerbaits, casting heavy spoons, and also has twitched a few walleye on jigs. If I had only one rod, that would be it.
  16. I wonder if Zodi has a bigger model. Sry Gerritt, I can contribute something. I've used the BlackCat in early May in Algonquin. With the ventilation offered in a modern tent with top mesh panel and full fly, the heater made a slight difference in the inside temp, say from 0C to maybe 5 degrees. I don't think that it actually drove off the damp, since the 'burning' of fuel makes a fair bit of water. I could tell you how much water, but I can't really be bothered to do all that figgerin. Then again, maybe modern tents are only supposed to keep you dry, keeping warm is up to you. I think the same unit with a fan, the Power Cat is a better idea. I thought that most of the heat went directly up thru the tent vent, and a fan to move the air around is a good idea. I expect that would be the same for an ice hut. If you are really serious about being toasty, go for the Zodi. If you would only learn how to dress for the weather, then the PowerCat would be my choice.
  17. All you had to do was ask, joey. Here you go.
  18. If only someone could come up with a way to recirculate the air in your tent or hut thru a heat exchanger that burns propane outside your tent.
  19. That is true. However, the Coleman BlackCat and other catalytic hearters are not in this class of appliance. In fact, they are approved for indoor use as they do not 'burn' the propane.
  20. The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is King of Men for a' that.
  21. Great to see old friends again, had a great yak with misfish. And yes, sauerkraut on a gweech - I call it 'The Moistmaker'. I am saddened that no one has stepped up to photoshop a nice laker there in my photo with Tybo. I did my part, anyway. Thanks for the post, Joanne.
  22. There are eight in chat now, too many if you axe me. Don't even think of it.
  23. Pick up is a little slow, so jus type somebody's handle. That will ring the doorbell on your way in.
  24. The topic fer tonight is, 'Poaching: Is a little bit OK? ' Discuss.
