Trailering 15' bass boat with 2006 Jetta?
lookinforwalleye replied to MSBruno's topic in General Discussion
In your opinion why do Mfg`ers put a 1000 lb tow capcity on cars?? I don`t think they just pulled that number out of their arse!! Maybe I should sell my tow vehicle and tow with my Buick Allure going up a hill may be a little tough but down hill should be a breeze I could slipper into neutral and save tons on gas. -
Trailering 15' bass boat with 2006 Jetta?

I love these can I tow threads. Last week when I was in Caledon I saw a guy towing a boat that must have been 30-32 feet the type you see charter captains using on the great lakes the guys tow vehicle was an old ford mini van had to be 10-15 years old and by the looks like it was way past it`s prime. People tow illegal unsafe loads all the time I just wish there was more enforcement. I would imagine the car companys put a 1000 lbs tow rating on cars for a reason and I am guessing it`s not a horsepower or torque thing. I can`t wait for the can I tow my new boat with my smart car thread. And don`t worry if you get stuck on a ramp I am sure someone with a proper tow vehicle will pull you out. -
certainly better than a 2,500 per person Can tax out. I hope you have a good trip.

Sorry can`t help you with recommendation other than save your money unless of course your wealthy. I recently priced a fly-in to a well know Ontario lodge and the price came to about 5 grand for two people for 3-4 days.

Just sold sold my trailer at Goreski`s after 7 seven years of rough camping in a park model. LOL! The Parkbridge parks are nice but they are expensive, I thought our park after Parkbridge purchased it lost it`s family feel it was much better when the Goreski family owned it. With Parkbridge owning the park I always had that feeling in the back of my mind that they could come in and pull another Melody Bay and screw everybody. I would get a copy of the private camp ground guide or Google it and see what you can find, I would think there should be some nice camp grounds around Lake Erie that is alot closer than driving to the Kawartha`s save gas $$$.

Well no report because we didn`t end up going, instead ended up rushing the wife to the hospital with what turned out to be a perforated colon. So if anybody tells you a colonoscopy is routine and there is nothing to worry about don`t you belive it. What my wife thought was a little gas or cramping after the procedure was not and turned into a serious emergency. All is okay now!

My Thoughts about Basserones Post!
lookinforwalleye replied to Dave Mercer's topic in General Discussion
Sure all fishing shows are infomercials and most are highly edited but hey if they were not nobody would watch. The hosts look like walking billboards and their boats are billboards but the advertising works just look at whats in your tackle box and your rod lockers for proof!! I for one like Dave`s show and for the record Mercer`s magic got me the nice bass in my Limerick report when nothing much else was working. -
Try peanut butter or peanut oil.

I have finally found the time to visit my brother down in Belle River and rumor has it there is a fish or two swimming around in St.Clair. Just looking for some general info on baits and tactics to use on the "hump" will be targeting smallies and maybe some eyes and info on the launch in Belle River. I have a boat that is just shy of 17 feet with a 90" beam just wondering if this lake is like Simcoe with respect to the wind and wave action. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Hey if you fishing info go to fishing board!!!!!LOL -
Get the biggest and best you can afford and forget the 14 foot tiller I had one and grew tired of being cramped and having frost bite from the cold winds early and late in the season to say nothing of getting soaked when the waves and winds kick up. The safety aspect should come into play as well there will come a day when you will want to go out on Simcoe and the lake will be nice and calm when the next thing you know the wind has picked and your into some 3 foot waves and you have a 6 mile run back to shore. I have a boat now that is just shy of 17 feet and I wish it was two feet longer.

Why is this site open to lurkers?
lookinforwalleye replied to markiemark70's topic in General Discussion
Ya this topic again, you won`t get much specific info here on fishing locations so I wouldn`t worry about lukers, as I have said before most here would rather let you spend the night with their significant other than give away a fishing spot. The biggest problem with the resource is the lack of funding and the lack of enforcement of the laws that are inplace for example I have a place at Goreskis on Scugog and every weekend the canal is loaded with casual fisherman I bet I could write 100 tickets for fishing with out a license. Now are these people hurting the resource by taking a few sunfish probably not but they are indirectly hurting the resource by not forking out the license fee. If the resource is of concern to you contact your M.P.P and ask that some of that money that they are pissing away on the auto companies be directed to the M.N.R -

Towing over capacity, Real World Experience Wanted
lookinforwalleye replied to Ziki's topic in General Discussion
There are a lot of people towing with vehicles that have no business towing, I saw a guy once towing a 17 foot Crestliner with a Mazda 3. You`ll get lots of people hear telling you they towed their 20 foot bass boat with a Civic for years with no problems. -
If it wasn`t for the local boys,Mercer,DeRose,Izumi, and the Extreme Angler boys WFN would be a waste of time and money!
-
Computer geek to smoke eater that is a switch LOL! Don`t want too piss on your parade but the two people I know who did the same thing are still waiting for a job and it`s been years. Hate to say it but the odds are not in your favour. Good luck to you.
-
I agree, I guess it`s all about the money and sponsors the resource be damed! Two thumbs up for Dave and J.P. for doing the right thing!

When it comes to line I like to keep it simple Stren or Trilene and if you are only a casual fisherman thats all you need If you want to frustrate yourself give Vanish a try.

where are the muskies in Scougog?
lookinforwalleye replied to dizzidevil's topic in General Discussion
Yes the slimmie buggers are off Goreski`s troll the weed line opposite the park. Troll from Caesarea down towards the Island and you`ll probably get a bite or two. I would agree with the others on a 5 year old in the boat.
