There's a free ramp right in town buddy. Not usually too busy. Just take a left right after you go over the bridge in town. Good luck!

Justin, great report as always. Beauty bass and awesome action shots!

GB and I headed out to Area 51 after a quick stop to locally catch some bait for the day. Thank god for that bait! My first fish was my first decent pike of 2007, great fight, lots of fun and a safe release. Those circle hooks work great, always hook em right in the corner of the jaw. The next few fish were bass, quite a few half decent ones. My tactic was to wait for GB to lose one, then I moved in for the catch  Even GB caught a few today! And yes... the WGSF finally makes his re-appearance in a BBR report. Sadly, I did not subdue this beast.

It's just a small step from WGSF....

Greensot and I did a bit of a run to a few spots locally yesterday. It was a great day, fishing was alright. A few bass and some others caught and lots of good conversation. Really shows that you can have a great time and get into some good fish whether or not you have a boat. Thanks for the great day Travis.

We change them in the great outdoors! Ethan was right behind me while I landed my carp (in his stroller with mommy watching of course). haha Thanks man

Well it was bassin' in the morning, and carping in the afternoon! Things were a bit slower at the carp hole but I think I got one of the biggest carp I've ever caught out of the Lynn River on BBR's magic cherry dough. Was a great night. Now for pics! Fight shots: Fish: And the beast!

Wow, I sure did see some nice fish today. I saw a perfect looking lake. I saw tons of structure. I saw great water clarity (just that perfect stain). Things were perfect. Except, we couldn't buy a bite. I headed out with my buddy Alex from work and things looked good at the start. We got on the water by about 6:30AM and soon after he had hooked into something BIG on a Mepps. Video cam dies immediately. Left it on while I was charging. OOPS!! Alex is a newbie at the fishing game, and though I informed him to keep the slack out of the while this fish circled the boat, he let it loose just one too many times. The mystery fish was gone. Judging by the fight and the lure he bit, I assume it was a really, really big bass. Wow, that thing was powerful though and it wasn't a carp. About 7AM I downsize baits since Alex had the bites to a jig and spinner combo and start beating the bank. I hook into my first bass. It's a start. As the day wore on, we tried just about everything, everywhere. This lake has me perplexed. Finally I get the signature bump in the line while tossing my Nancy colored senko. A half decent bass. Nothing like what Alex had though! I decided to leave the senko on for the rest of the night and keep switching up between it and my spinnerbait rod. For once in my life I couldn't get a bite on the spinnerbait! We neared a deeper spot near the top edge of a dam where something nailed my senko. I set hook, and immediately knew I had a BIG bass! Soon after, he headed for a stump and snapped my 14lb mono like nothing. DANG! Well that was about it for the day. Beautiful weather though and definitely a lake I will want to check out again. As for the name of it, sorry but Alex asked me not to reveal it since he showed it to me. Was a good time anyways!

There are even better spots than that dam. I was very surprised at how many had moved up there. Must be because the water is so low down river. I've noticed the duck park carp populations have dwindled this year.. not sure why. As for Deer Creek, haven't been there myself this year, was debating hitting it up tomorrow. I hear from others that the stocked trout fishing is as good as ever, but the bass fishing has gone way downhill. Not surprising. Too many campers keeping big, breeding fish. Even the bluegill and crappie populations have gone down. Good luck though.

The carp fishing was tremendous today by Simcoe standards. We managed to pull in quite a few throughout the day .. 10lbs is big in this little river and I managed to beat it twice today. All on BBR's special dough concoction. Oh except the first one. It smashed a #2 Panther Martin spinner!! Pics! And this brute that I managed to catch on the crappiest looking spincaster (button reel) that I found laying on shore. I used it as a joke! LOL And the final one of the day since Sugarpacket refuses to let me put her picture on here. Even though she caught the last fish. Hey, if she wont allow her pic to go up then I guess she never caught anything

Champion had one back in the late 90's with twin 350 engines on it. They said it was the fastest ever made. Nobody was brave enough to push the throttle all the way down. The bravest one stopped at about 120mph on the GPS. Why you'd ever need a boat that fast is beyond me, unless you're trying to kill people.
-
Nope stock ponds are free provided you pay to get into the park obviously. They are stocked semi-regularly. The one closest to the lake was the one I always did best at.
-
If you're talking about Christie Conservation Area it really sucks. They drain it every year so fish populations dont really get too high. The stocked trout ponds can be alright though.
-
Of course they will. They'll eat anything that fits in their mouth.
-
Beauty largemouth! Nice work buddy! As for the future BBR, when she be-heads a rock bass, we'll talk. LOL
-
I rarely touch my spinning rods when I'm bass fishing. That being said, they do have their place. Mostly for smaller, finesse style baits.
-
Long Point Bay has always had tons of pike. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's more pike than bass these days! It's a sheltered, weedy, shallow, warm bay.
-
Barefoot in my boat you might as well be walking on a bed of nails! lol

*crying in my toothpaste* That's beautiful. Just beautiful!

Dad and I launched the Bass Tub out of St Williams yesterday in search of pike. When we got to the launch we were informed that there were 2 bass tournaments on the bay this weekend so we assumed fishing was going to be slow. Good assumption. We hit the flats in about 1/16th of the time it would take the Filth Hound to get out there, lol, and started casting spinnerbaits. Things were tough. The first fish hooked was a 13 inch perch on a spinnerbait by dad. We tossed it in the livewell in case we got enough for a meal. I hooked into about a half pound bass on an X Rap about an hour later, but things were looking slow. We finally got into some decent looking weeds and dad hooked into a nice anorexic pike. After that we hit closer to Port Rowan sitting in green weeds about 4 feet below the surface. I hooked into a hammer handle that shook the hook at boatside. My next fish was a 2lb largemouth which was released without a picture. Nice fish though. After that I put the white spinnerbait back on and kaboom, 2 pike smashed it at once, and I missed them both. haha. Right at boatside yet ANOTHER pike smashed it, this one a hammer handle which I landed. But it flipped out of my hands before a pic was taken. It was pretty tiny though, lol Things were just dead after that. The only other fish to report was another 12-13 inch perch that took a perch colored X Rap. haha That concluded a day on the bay. Great weather and the fishing wasn't horrible so we had a good time. Not too impressed with the 20 dollar launch fee at Booth's Harbour though.

Nice fish! Now you and me are in the same boat looking to join the 50" club!
-
Hmm.. interesting way of fishing, but I'd take my ultra light over that any day. Nice report!

In my particular case his minnows were advertised as "by the scoop" and he still counted out 12 minnows. CHEAP. I proceeded up the road to Canadian Tire to buy the rest of what i needed.

If I use commercial crap, I use Megastrike. I like how it stays on the bait for a long time, and it seems to work well. Often though, I make my own. The oil based stuff floats to the surface too quickly for my liking. I boil garlic salt in water, and add some Kool-Aid to the mix. Strawberry garlic kicks bass. The water based scent disperses better in the water column, though you need to spray it on more often.
