  1. Does this mean you're going to change your name to spinnerbait? I don't think the inline has fallen out of favour with the muskies, just the lure pushers on tv. The bonus walleye that you catch using the spinnerbait for musky are usually bigger than average. I'm sure Lew has a photo album full of nice accidental walleye catches.
  2. It's not a very big lake. I'm sure you could scope out the whole lake in a day. If I were you, I'd drive down to Elephant Lake Lodge and rent a boat and motor and fish in Elephant instead.
  3. I have to agree with Rich, I couldn't go after musky without both in my tackle box. If they won't come out of the weeds to chase a bucktail, you have to go in after them with a spinnerbait. I prefer the Mepps Musky Killer for my bucktail and the Slopmaster is my new fave spinnerbait.
  4. Took a ferry over in 2003. If you go be sure to check out the massive Oak tree. I had brother Joonmoon (who is 6'4") and Pops do some tree huggin' for scale. It was over 18' around and close to 60' tall. I had to walk a long way down the road to get the last pic.
  5. I didn't get today off either, but I booked a vacation day to stay home with my 7yr old daughter. Too bad the wife has the day off or it would have been really enjoyable.
  6. I assume you are using a spinning reel when pursuing your quarry. I would suggest Berkley Fireline Crystal in the 14lb test range. It has the diameter of 6lb mono with no stretch and no memory. The no stretch will give you instant feedback on light hitting walleye and without memory you will never have a problem with line twist or coiling (like a phone cord). It isn't cheap but will last much longer than mono. A 125yd spool will cost between $20 & $25. Money well spent IMHO. Don't forget to tie a few yards of mono on your spool first and then tie the Fireline to the mono with a uni to uni or a blood knot. If you tie Fireline directly to the spool it will slip. Some prefer to put a foot of electric tape around the spool, then tie the Fireline directly to the spool.
  7. Al is the man, and he's got the best beard in fishing.
  8. You guys did better in one weekend than lots of guys did all last season on the Bog. I liked the beating heart video too.
  9. Another nice haul. Do you have an opinion as to which tastes better, the walleye or the crappie? I'm asking because until I ate crappie I thought walleye couldn't be beat. Most people would say they taste the same but I like the crappie better.
  10. Nice crappies. I didn't know that the Bog was that good for them yet. Good eats for sure. Great report and pics.
  11. Great report brother Joonmoon. Nice catch Goog. I'm very glad you two decided to treat us with your bacon wrapped walleye and perch morsels, done on the BBQ, at Ma & Pa's place last night. Best Superbowl snacks I have ever had. Mmm, mmm...GOOD.
  12. Cool Squid! Welcome to the bored
  13. I like the Abu 5600C4 for casting (it has a higher retrieve ratio than the C3) and burning bucktails. It has been problem free for 4 years now. I use the Abu 6500C4 for trolling, 7 years and still going strong. I received a Shimano Corsair CS300A, just after x-mas, from a buddy who is giving up Musky fishing. He hooked his partner in the neck with a giant spinnerbait and is going back to walleye driftin' and jiggin'. He caught a 50" snake musky in Pigeon 3 years ago with it, so it's gotta be lucky. I'm going to use it for large soft plastics on Cobra jigs.
  14. Nice slabs GCD, I wish I could get the kayak out for some crappie action in January. I can almost smell 'em cookin'.
  15. I was Jedi Angler on several other boards, but got tired of using the SHIFT button. Now I'm just jediangler. The name actually comes from my job. I'm in the heattreating business. I had to FISH out parts that fell off hooks and into a 4ft deep pot of 1400 F molten salt with a long stainless steel hook. You couldn't see the bottom so you had to feel around with the hook to locate the missing parts. Although I wore the silver suit and other appropriate heat resistant gear, my face would get cooked looking into the molten pot. I covered the shield on my helmet so that I was blind (kinda like Luke Skywalker with his blast shield down while practising his light saber). I always managed to out fish the other guys by Fishing with the Force.
  16. Pats will rule. Probably won't even break a sweat.
  17. Nice job on the rink. Looks like the kid will get plenty of enjoyment out of it. These memories will last a lifetime for both of you. I've been watching them flood the school rink across the street from me the last two nights. I'll have to try it out this week. Right now it's off to play pick-up with the old-timers, indoors where it's warm.
  18. Awesome, as always. That first locust pic is my new desktop. Nice photos man.
  19. When I played in a league in St.Clements there was a firefighters team. We let them have an unlimited roster because of their shifts. You could play the same team two weeks in a row and every player was different. We used to joke about starting a fire somewhere before the game so they would be short of players. They always kicked our keisters. In the "A" division of the KW shop league there was an all police team. They were the dirtiest team in the league. But where else can you assault an officer with a weapon and only get 2 minutes in the box I'd be in for a "GTG on ice" if it was close enough to home.
  20. I played in the beer leagues for 14yrs before leaving it to the younger guys 3 yrs ago. Now I play pick-up with a bunch that's been together for around 18yrs. We play one old-timer tourney a year just to get our competitive fix.
  21. Happy B-day boyz. Looks like you're gonna have to share those ONIONS Rich. Cute little onionmonger you've got there.
  22. Great report. Gotta love that family fishing. What's with the x-mas tree in the water?
  23. Way to go Joonmoon & Googie. So did Goog win her hockey game or what? Don't leave me hangin' like this
  24. I'm with Rich, let the melting begin.
