Team Canada wins in OT 4 - 3 over Sparta Prague. Prague took a too many men penalty in overtime and Micki Dupont scored the winner for Canada on the power play. Tomorrow they'll play at 2:15pm against HC Davos. If they can win that game they'll be playing at 6am on Friday for the championship. If they make the finals that will be 5 games in 5 days since Monday.

Canada lost yesterday to HC Davos, the host team, and will have to win today against Sparta Prague of the Czech league to advance. Messier looks good as a coach, I wonder how long it will be before he's coaching in the NHL?

I was at a nearby school on the outdoor rink yesterday and took a poll among the 10 - 12yr olds I was playing hockey with. The 3 boys fave teams were Calgary, New Jersey and Nashville. My daughter's team is Pheonix. Getting teased for being a Leaf fan will drive the future fanbase down I'm sure.

Maybe "Throwing out the Waffle" will be the catch phrase of those Leaf fans that have finally had enough. They are tossing their allegiances and loyalty to the team over the glass like so many frozen waffles. Getting kicked out and banned for life will suit them fine as they clear their Leaf merchandise and prepare to cheer for a new team. Last year a Leaf fan advertised on ebay that he would cheer for the team chosen by the highest bidder. He got $25 bucks and is now Dallas Stars fan.

I was fishing for panfish when I caught that little guy and he was my only fish of that day too, hence the picture to prove I caught something.

I don't think that they open for ice-fishing until after the 1st of January. There are perch, crappie, bluegill, sunfish, rockbass and some pike that may take a bait during the ice season in Shade's.

I think the fans are trying to tell the team they need a good breakfast before the next game. I believe as long as they throw eggos and not the square waffles it's OK. Someone could lose an eye from those pointy corners.

Anyone can catch big bass, it's the little ones that are hard to catch.

Richards wants to win, why would he come to Toronto? What could Burke offer Dallas as compensation? Maybe 1st rounders in 2012,13 & 14. He'll be in NYC next year even if he does waive his no-trade by the deadline and move to another team for the rest of the season.

I think I'll just stay on this side of the border and go see a pre-tourney game in Kitchener at the Aud. Canada vs Finland.

We got a dusting last night here in Kitchener, just enough accumulation to cover the grass.

Congrats to the Leafs for ending Timmy's 9 game, NHL all-time record streak, of wins on the road from the start of the season. Why don't the Leafs play like that every night?

I'm so looking forward to seeing Ke$$el at center. He is afraid of contact and doesn't play defence. Kadri is on the 4th line with Orr and either Mitchell or Rosehill. Watch how long it takes Wilson to swap them and put Kadri up and Ke$$el down to the 4th line. There will definately be some scraps tonight. Has Komi come down with Lucic flu yet?

The Oilers have won 3 in a row and will be better because they are rebuilding the right way, through the draft. Last year the NorthEast division put 4 teams into the playoffs, more than any other division in the NHL. Only Toronto missed out. This year it looks like both Boston and Montreal are going to make it. What has happened to Buffalo and Ottawa?

Saturday's game is in Toronto, Johnny, so any boos Ke$$el hears will be coming from the Leaf fans.

If you don't bet on long shots, you've picked the wrong team to cheer for Johnny.

Our Bruins looked good again tonight Muddler, 8-1 win over Tampa Bay.

It wouldn't matter if the Leafs had all the draft picks in the first round. They would pick bad players or pick good players and make them bad by forcing that jersey on them. You know they passed on Tyler Myers for Luke Schenn? They passed twice on Milan Lucic and picked Tlusty and Kulemin instead. Lucic has more goals and points than Ke$$el by the way. Seguin scored tonight in Boston's 3-0 win over the Flyers and Thomas set an NHL record by being the first goalie in history to win his first 9 road games. Thanks again for that lottery pick in June 2011.

The no trade had an open window which has since closed. Burke tried hard to get twice as much as Kaberle is worth during that open window but wouldn't pull the trigger on any offers he had. Those draft picks are fine. Tyler Knight is playing great in the juniors and Seguin, who hasn't turned 19 yet, has 8pts at $900,000 compared to Ke$$el's 14pts at $6,000,000. Plus we still have the lottery 1st round pick the Leafs will give us next summer. Ke$$el's 10 goals aren't that impressive when you remember he is also a -4.

My prediction on Oct 7th looks good, Leafs will finish between 27 & 30th.
