  1. I pick up Musky Hunter and Esox Angler at the local convenience store. I've been re-reading articles from over 10 years ago. Gets me through the cold months.
  2. I bought a Diawa Emblem Z in the early 90's. It is still my best spinning reel. I've gone through many Quantum, Mitchell, and Shimano reels since then. To be fair though, none of them were as expensive as the Emblem Z. You get what you pay for. I'm sure your Dad will be happy if you get the one he wants.
  3. Just the amount of litter that would be left on the ice from a hard water season is enough reason to keep it closed.
  4. It hardly seems sporting when they have 8 lures in the water on 4 rods for 2 fishermen. Might as well drag a net. Nice fish though, so much for the zebra mussels destroying lake Erie's walleye fishery.
  5. I wouldn't want to bet against Lew , I'll vote for Lord Tundra'n if he made it. Heard he was gonna attend.
  6. Happy Holidays to you misfish. The "Buy Out" can't help me now. My employer closed one of two plants here in Kitchener. Cost cutting. About a dozen of us hit the street just before we would be eligible for our x-mas holiday pay. I could heat treat more engine blocks in 2 shifts than Ford could sell in a week. I don't blame anyone (union, government, U.S. head office, buyers of better quality vehicles). Change is coming for many so we might as well get comfortable with it. Looking forward to new challenges in 2009. Happy New Year to all of the OFC community, and the "Lurkers" too.
  7. Doesn't matter what the employees get paid, they have to build some quality cars. This has all happened before with the motorcycle industry. Starting at the end of the 60's the Japanese were making quality bikes while the British were not. By the end of the 70's there were no British bike manufacturers left. But BMW survived by continuing to make the highest quality bikes out there. Of course H-D survived, but they were the only U.S. manufacturer and were taken over by their employees. Maybe one U.S. auto maker is all there is room for. If that's the case, they shouldn't get any bailout money, let the strongest survive.
  8. I understand that employees of Toyota here make the same as the employees of the Old Three. Can't pin this one on the unions. Talk is that some of the money that was supposed to go to the U.S. banks will be used for the bailout instead.
  9. I managed 2 PB's this year. A 14" crappie from Guelph lake in my old kayak and a 49" musky from a rental boat in Pigeon lake. Also managed a 43" musky for a kayak PB.
  10. I knew I should have put my old snow shovel in the classifieds section.
  11. If the Caps start Theodore, then the Leafs have a chance. AO will still light it up though.
  12. I'm sitting at home watching the afternoon game of "Hockey Night in Canada's" triple game day, when they zoom in on a guy and his kid in the stands. It was our own Crazyhook and his daughter all dressed up in Sens gear cheering on the hometown team. The Senators won 3-2 so I'm sure the two of them enjoyed their day.
  13. I know he's not popular with everyone, but I like Mike .
  14. The Hybrids they drove to D.C. are a joke. The Malibu hybrid just restarts the car after you stop at a light or stop sign. The electric motor in no way drives the wheels. They still get to call it a Hybrid??? Great story Beans.
  15. Welcome. Fish porn on your first post is a great way to start. .
  16. I agree, you may be right about Philly. Who else would want him?
  17. :blahblah1: But have you been doing any fishing lately? That is what this forum is for, right? I respect your decision, but I'm a Union Socialist so I'm sure it counts for little.
  18. I thought letting the wife loose in the Vaughn Mall while I shopped at Bass Pro was a good idea. She spent twice what I did in half the time. That'll teach me .
  19. That was pretty cool . I've heard this method described, just hadn't seen it in practice. Hope I never have to use it .
  20. Nice work. I like the last one best.
  21. Welcome to the BORED, especially during this in between season.
  22. We should call them what they are.
  23. That is a real pickeral .
  24. I don't know about that girth measurement, sounds kind of unlikely. This is a 57"er here.
  25. It has been nearly a year since the kayak fishing community lost one of our greatest ambassadors, Serge Lapointe (aka Titowoody). He was a very experienced kayaker with the proper cold weather gear on but did venture out alone. A freak snow squall blew up and a change of wind direction spelled disaster for him. I had heard someone was going to set up a tournament in his home province of Quebec with proceeds going to his family. Better to just stick to shore fishing, we don't want any more memorial tournaments.
