  1. You can fish panfish in the Kawarthas in April and May if you want to try and lessen their numbers.
  2. Nope. Not that I've heard anyways. Of course Scugog after Jan. 1st, but that's it.
  3. Congrats on the PB musky DD. Joonmoon knows his stuff.
  4. They are usually very nervous around people but there is one on Pigeon lake that has it all figured out. He looks for people shore fishing and hangs out begging for a meal. My daughter fed him 2 bluegills and a rockbass before he flew off. Saw him the next day a couple of kilometers up the lake begging for panfish at another resort. Smart bird.
  5. Congrats on the new PB Pete. My brother uses hockey tape on his spreaders as well. That secret lure looks like a rapala Super Shad by the hooks.
  6. Congrats Mike, your infectious enthusiasm is a welcome change to the many sarcastic and negative opinioned posts that sometimes make me wonder why I come here. And you actually go fishing and post reports (w/pics) unlike many who seem to be here to put down others. I'm sure you will recruit many other anglers to our chosen sport and never be short of a fishing partner.
  7. I can't wait to see the Bruins get two lottery picks the next two years for Kessel. Penalties are going to cost the Leafs big time this year.
  8. I'll second Beans' response that Pigeon has already turned over. That way I don't feel so bad about being skunked up there on Saturday . I was getting surface temps around 63-65F.
  9. Very cool pics Joey, thanks for posting.
  10. I used to put Realcraw scent on jigs for bass. Can't find it anymore, they must have gone under. Now I just use scent impregnated baits, they are cleaner and easier to transport.
  11. Welcome to the site, it's true, we really like pics.
  12. Fished Sparrow once and had good luck in the mouth of Deep Bay.
  13. West-Blackhawks East-Bruins Cup winner- Boston bruins
  14. The Leafs should grab him and play him until Kessel returns from shoulder rehab. At least he would throw a bodycheck or two, more than you'll see out of Kessel all season. They can probably get him for next to nothing on a 1 year deal. I'd like to see someone give him a chance.
  15. Great pic Mike, de ee ee cent.
  16. I bought some at Wallymart last year in the 40lb test size. I've caught 6 muskies since changing from green to red so I like it, even if it does turn pink after it gets worn.
  17. There are a few kayak fishing forums I check out but the Ontario home of kayak fishing (yakfisher.net) and OFC account for most of my time.
  18. That's my hockey stick camera mount Holdie. I pull it back to me, mount the camera, set the timer, push it forward holding the rope so it doesn't crash and pick up my fish for the photo.
  19. He probably rolled in the line and cut you off with his gill plate. Like others have said, I'd go with higher lb test line and a longer leader for musky. I caught my very first musky in the Scugog river when I was 12yrs old on a jig & minnow with 6lb test mono and no leader, so luck plays a role when you aren't targetting them. How is school going?
  20. There is no other way to troll in a kayak but solo. With both hands on the paddle, I put the rod holder on my foot so I can bring my foot back closer so I can easily reach the rod. I travel with the yak on the car roof so a permanent mount would be a problem.
  21. Go Bruins Go You gotta cheer for the fisherman.
  22. If the recruitment commercials and posters told the truth instead of pitching an education and good paying jobs as the result of joining up, maybe there wouldn't be so many going AWOL. Show them coming home in bodybags, committing suicide in record numbers and suffering the physical and mental injuries that will haunt them as long as they live. Then show them the fat cats counting their profits from the war machine and how what they are doing over there is making MORE terrorists, not less. If the reasons were really humanitarian, why aren't they in Tibet or any number of other places worldwide where injustices are being committed? I say come on up if you want to live in peace.
  23. Nice smallie, that would have been fun in the kayak. How did you do on Aaran? We caught a nice smallie there a couple of years ago.
  24. Hey Wask, that Geo was built in the California plant that Toyota and GM share. Before the Geo they made Chevy Novas that were the same as Toyota corollas. Now they build the Pontiac vibe that's a clone of the Toyota matrix. The most reliable cars to be sold under GM nameplates in the last 25 years came from that plant. They are closing this plant. I don't think GM is moving in the right direction.
  25. Nice looking truck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I used to heattreat aluminum engine blocks for GM, Ford & Chrysler. The Gm blocks used to come from Michigan, now they come from Mexico. No thanks.
