That's my favourite top water lure hands down. I like the black ones for night top water fishing. I've even got a huge musky sized one but I haven't caught anything on it yet. That's a good deal but I got this one for free out of a tree in Guelph lake. I figure lures that I find are inherently lucky, since I didn't have to pay for them .

Just started to rain heavy here in Kitchener at 3pm. At 3:30pm we started to get some hail coming down. It's about the size of dimes. Tornado warning in effect for Waterloo Region. Nice weather for August.

Did the trip on my motorcycle 10yrs ago. If I had stopped to take a picture of every beautiful scene, I would still be up there. When I saw the town of Rossport I thought, this is where I want to retire.

Well Victor, I caught a couple of under 30" musky on the opener in the new yak but didn't take any pics. It is the first legal sized fish from the Tegris and second biggest yak musky to date for me.

Spent the last two weeks at a rental cottage on Pigeon lake with the family. I took my kayak along in hopes of beating my PB yak musky from last August. I knew I wouldn't get out as much as I would like with weather conditions and family funtime coming first. I did manage a total of 10hrs fishing for musky at a decent spot 1km away from the beach over 5 trips in the kayak. I caught two and had six other lazy followers during those outings. This first one was caught July 20th on a Mepps musky killer bucktail. I hooked it in 10ft of water with scattered weed growth on a windless morning around 10am. It measured 38.5" and by the time I landed it there were 3 other boats around me watching. The spectators were all delighted when it took off giving me a good soaking. The second fish was 33" and was caught on July 23rd on the same bucktail about 50yds from the first. This time it was pouring rain with a 15km/h east wind. I got to try out my battery powered bilge pumps and after 2 hours of pouring rain they emptied my yak in under 4minutes. I also borrowed a GPS unit and found I can troll for 30minutes at an average speed of 3.7km/h and I hit a top speed of 7km/h during a sprint on flat water. We had a rental boat and as a family caught many panfish, small bass and even a few walleye casting a drifting jigs. My daughter was proud to lip her own fish before releasing them.

Whale Wars, awesome show.

Nice bass evster. Guelph lake is a real gem as far as conservation area lakes go. There are some real nice pike and crappie in there as well.

Sounds like a chance of a lifetime to me. I'd be packing my sunblock.

Ocean Kayak's Big Game is a big man's kayak. PM Crazyhook, he is a Ocean Kayak sponsered pro guide. Or check out Yakfisher.net lots of OFC'ers and other helpful kayak anglers.

Take a look at Native Watercraft's Ultimate kayaks. They are hybrids. Look like a canoe but are paddled like a kayak. You can stand in them and they have more storage than either the SOT or the SIK. I bought the super light weight Tegris edition and it only weighs 30lbs, 36lbs with the seat in.

Guelph lake is good, but better from a boat than from shore.

Nice fish Mattk. I'm going to the Kawarthas for two weeks this Saturday. Any chance you could PM me that secret lure? Have you ever musky fished at home in the cave run lakes in KY? I heard they stock Tigers in those lakes.

That sounds like a fearless 10yr old cradle kid you've got there. Congrats on the pretty fish.

North end right across from the trailer park. Don't be afraid to start casting soon after getting out from the launch. I've hit some good sized smallies within 100ft of the ramp where no one thinks to start fishing.

How did your trip go? Hope you had some luck.

I'm going up there for two weeks starting Saturday. They are just waiting for ME to arrive .

I've used rapalas for years and have never once had a problem with any of their products.

Great story, report and pics. Gotta love those gravel pits.

I rode the ferry once. I was on my motorcycle and showed up 5min before departure. First on and first off. I was great driving past all those cars and campers right to the front of the boat.

Nice fish guys. I'm happy to see Wildwood still has some great fishing.

That's a Tiger alright. I'm hoping you caught it in Balsam lake, not any other Kawartha lakes. Please let us know which lake.

Man, Leaf fans just don't get it. Sundin's career was wasted BECAUSE he played for the Leafs. Thirteen years of crap teams in Toronto and the fans blame the only watchable player. He was only ever given one world class winger to play with that whole time, Alexander Mogilny. He was a great hockey talent that put up great numbers on his own, despite his team mates. Here's my favourite Sundin highlight in Toronto.

Last place in the east, possibly the whole league. Burke will do damage that will last as long as Ballard's deeds. Look down the forum for a post titled "Opinions". More Leaf talk there. Here's an example of Burke's ineptness. That Kaberle for Kessel deal that nearly went down before draft day, was supposed to include the two teams switching first round picks as well. When word got out and everyone said it was a bad deal, Burke said that Boston misunderstood and the Leafs first round pick wasn't involved. Boston was shocked because they knew what was offered and then pulled off the table after popular opinion scared Burke. Until the Leafs get a Canadian GM that isn't from the dark ages, they won't even make the playoffs, let alone win a series.
