  1. Mmmmmm But I like fresh caught bacon wrapped walleye.... Best of both worlds...
  2. The goal for me is to eliminate "gear" on my line... I agree it would give me a lot more control... Maybe a really small one would be alright... I currently troll a 3 way set up in the situation described... If the Leadcore doesn't work I'll be sticking to the 3 way... I'm only looking to add 10-15 feet of dive depth...
  3. That's what I got... Micro core... The applications I have in mind were on slower spots... 1-2 mph current... And I fish at say 2mph GPS... So 3-4 mph water speed... I assume It won't work well anywhere there is inconsistent current... But I figure 5 colors would add minimum 10 feet of dive depth to 20 feet at best.... Depending on current speed... So if I use cranks with 5 foot dive if get 15-25 feet....
  4. Just wondering if anyone pulls Leadcore in rivers or areas with significant current... More specifically for walleye.... I've set up a rod to play with this year... I want to try downsizing my cranks on the slower days and in the spring without dragging 3-5 oz weights ahead of them... And also wanna try flatlining deeper water then I normally do with regular cranks on the Leadcore... I know this isn't great for small runs due to the amount of line you have to let out.... but I have some longer trolls in mind for this.... Just looking for any tips or success stories... I'm getting cabin fever and need to talk some open water... Also if you feel like sharing details like depth/# of colors and good small cranks you like... I'd be all ears... I honestly don't think this technique will work very well in the heavy current I fish... But I think it's worth checking out... And does anyone troll harnesses on Leadcore in 15-25 feet of water... I was gunna try that out too... I figure 5 colors would get me 15-20 feet down in some current with a harness...
  5. Pike on a single kernel of corn... Carp on a worm harness Carp on a crankbait Pike lasooed on mainline... Not hooked... Actually 20-30 feet from the hook... Lol... Landed... Salmon on raw bacon (I now know it was flossing tho...) Pike on pepperette...
  6. That's were dad's going Alcan That's good news
  7. My buddy uses them all the time... He gets some cheapie ones from BPS... They don't last super long due to moisture and getting banged around... I think he replaces it every year or something... $10-$20 maybe
  8. I have a rod pod... But 90% of the time bank sticks are the easiest/fastest way to go... And I don't me branches... Lol Rod pods are needed if your set up on rock or something.,, or using multiple rods... In Ontario they aren't really needed very often...
  9. Carp kit international New world carp Canadian carp club even has an online shop now... I prefer carp kit... Great to deal with
  10. The perch ones work... But no better then the other popular deep crank... Tested against a perch taildancer... It was about even...
  11. Just wanted to post a video my buddy Pat Briere made with film maker Carey Miller.... Great musky fishing and cool video...
  12. Hey everyone.... So my dad got a contract job in kitimat BC... I think I've seen this place on TV... The skeena(sp?) river maybe? But I was wondering if anyone has been there and can recommend good fishing areas and or guides... He has his drug test this week then he will be flying out in early march.... Not sure how long yet but I'm guessing 3 or more months... I know he was hoping to get a halibut trip in... He loves eating them... And what runs the rivers in the spring... ? Thanks
  13. I know a guy with a 20' Larson and 200hp merc tiller.... Sweet ride....
  14. Also always made sure to put the car in low gear at the ramp.... And turned off overdrive in town
  15. I used an intrepid for years on paved.... Gravel... Brick... Launches... With a 14 footer and 9.9 combo.... The front wheel drive is good cause those are your dry tires... Only issue I ever hit was running late for work with the boat I was doing 120-130 on the 401 and overheated the car.... Under normal speeds everything performed fine...
  16. I personally tried 832.... I hated it... I found it too soft and constantly was having the braid wrap and tangle on my tip guide... So far the best line I've used is power pro...
  17. Do you troll a lot with your main motor...? Cause the smoothness and bells and whistles are geared towards trolling in my opinion... That's why I love my new yammy.... I troll 90% of the time... Another thing to consider... If you can get decent money for you current motor now... Cause if it craps out... Then you lose that money... It won't be worth anything... If you have the $$$ I'd get a new one... It's nice having a reliable newer motor on the back... That's what will get you back to shore... And someone else will enjoy what's left on your current motor....
  18. If your banging structure while trolling use a 2-4 foot leader of mono or flouro in 20-25 lb test... Otherwise you'll get cut off with braid... My trolling rod for cranks has 10lb PP to achieve max depths and a 3 foot 20lb mono leader... I never break off... Maybe 1-2 times a year a musky cuts me on the strike but it's very rare... I land about 20 musky up to and over 50" a year on my walleye rod... My trolling rod for spinners has 30lb PP because your weight and speed dictate depth... This is also my casting rod for bass and pike...
  19. Talk to Shakespeare..... When sending a rod to st croix... They tell you to saw it in small pieces to sent it back.... If the rods broken that is.... If they plan to repair then it's a different story....
  20. I had buddies that didn't know that... Also good to do if you post pictures of you kids online.., creepers...
