-
Northland airplane jigs with buck tail.... Chartruse.... I told a buddy how great they were and he didn't believe me.... Until he saw it in action... Now he's looking for some...

My PB carp is only 36lb 12oz... But I know guys that have broke 40 and even 50lbs.... Some day I'll get my 40 pounder

Most guys that have caught big carp in the st lawrence river have experienced this.... This is why people travel from all over the world to fish carp where I do... Keep in mind I'm talking 30-40lb carp built to swim in heavy current their entire life on basically a size 4 or 6 octopus hook... If you horse em you straighten your hook.... Or rip it out of their mouth... So you have to play em out.... I've had to literally jump in the river before and walk down river chasing big fish...lol It has only happened a few times... And it's easy to see if you think of a 30 pounder in 5mph current and your stuck on shore...and if I hook a 40-50 pounder (there are some that big here) I'll have the extra line to battle em....

I've had carp empty nearly all of 300 yards of my reel... Also... If you get an accidental catch that's larger or stronger then your targeted species it's nice to have extra line...

Some were replaceable... His look to be... You can see the bolts holding the blades on the end piece.... Mine were replaceable....

Used to have one like this.... It was 7" Best size ever

Anyone have an old, unusable Eskimo shelter for parts?
mike rousseau replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
If you want you can ship it to my USA address and I'll bring it across and ship it to you... You'd just have to paypal me $XX to cover shipping from Cornwall to your place.... I go to the states every 1-2 weeks anyways... Shoot me a PM if your interested....- 19 replies

More 50s... I've been ignoring you in 2013 and for that I'm sorry... Lol More walleye casting, drifting and jigging instead of trolling.... Expand on smallie stuff I learnt last year... Drop shot is soooooo fun... Lol Tighten up daily fishing areas... Currently I cover up to 20 miles of river some days... I'd like to learn smaller areas better close to my various launches to both reduce gas costs and slow down and try different colors... Lures... And techniques to get my fish....

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies
mike rousseau replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Possibly if he's talking worldwide.... No way if he's talking North America.... -
It's funny.... When anyone asks about getting a 90hp outboard or a 125hp almost everyone on this site will say go with the extra power.... Not much talk about gas When it's a car/truck it's a different story... Lol

I tow with an f150... 5.4 liter 8 cylinder..... My 16 foot aluminum you can't hardly feel behind you.... My brothers ranger 620T with 115hp 4stroke... You really appreciate the power..... You boat would be in between these 2 for weight... So in my experience id go 8 cylinder.... Then you have plenty of power for steep ramps... Big uphill drives.... Etc...

New user. Fish finder questions for ice fishing
mike rousseau replied to pidge's topic in General Discussion
The transducer just needs to get to the bottom of the ice.. -
That's their business model... Higher prices to pay for more workers for "better" customer service... And to "thin the herd" so to speak.... It's like a grocery store... Same box of cereal in 2 stores have 2 different prices.... Some will pay more for shorter lines at the cash and less shoppers.... Not this guy...

I've heard that before... Tire just falls off....
-
Not a thief... Someone squeezing every penny out of his lease.... I'm pretty sure the original tires were switched out also because when I bought the truck at 42,000 km the tires were shot.... Worn right down... Dried out and cracked... Worked in new tires on the truck from the used dealer... I guess that should have been a sign to check the spare...

Lol... When I was a kid my dad called me "Johnny Tangle".... One day he was working on a duzy I had created... I started daydreaming... Then I felt a tug on my line... Me being an alert young angler I was... I set the hook forgetting it was in my dad's hands.... He was speachless... And he is usually a "Vocal" person when he's upset... One of the scariest situations I've ever been in... Lol ... I thought he was gunna throw me over the side of the boat...

From what I read in the highway traffic act the safety only applies to tires installed on axles... That can't be right
-
Either way it's a low life move....
-
Good to know.... I'll call them... Get them to buy my new spare rim....
-
So headed out fishing today... Hit a patch of ice in a turn and got a BIT sideways.... GENTLY bumped a snow bank with my rear end... Popped the bead on my tire... No biggy.... New tires are ordered.... Just gotta put the spare on... Jack the truck... Remove the tire... Drop the spare... WRONG BOLT PATTERN!!!!!!!!!!! The low life that leased the truck before me took the spare and rim and replaced it with a rim that dioesnt fit... This is one of the dirtiest low life moves I've ever seen in my life... I'm just lucky where I was... If I was in the middle of nowhere I would have been in real trouble.... What is wrong with people....?????

New spot pays off. Fresh fish for dinner
mike rousseau replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
Saweet... Love finding new spots.. I'm on a mission this year to crack a code... And if I do I'll have miles of ice to myself with plenty of fish... -
Going out of balance... To my knowledge... Is caused by either losing a weight... Or uneven tire wear
