Think a bit... Lifetime ban = no more license dollars from the individual.... That's just not smart business wide... Jail = cost to taxpayers.... A large fine works best... Then put the money to something good like stocking...

This time of year I'll take 25 km winds any day.... Walleye chop... Lol... Nothing wrong with big waves if you can handle yourself in them... Just takes longer to travel any distance on plane.... I'll be out there Saturday....

9th Annual Live Release Fall Classic Walleye Derby
mike rousseau replied to superdad's topic in General Discussion
Great looking day... Glad to hear the fish were biting for most people... That really makes a tourney fun... Lol... I woulda placed with a fish we caught Saturday... Too bad I was fishing about 150 miles away from quinte... Lol... -
That sucks... I'm usually good in the boat till Christmas at least... Mid January last year...

My 50 EFI is a fair bit worse on gas then my carbureted 40 honda was...

I have a Yamaha 50 tiller and my dad has a Yamaha 60 tiller... The extra 10hp won't give you a lot of top end... But it will improve almost every aspect of performance a bit... And the extra 10hp helps if there's a couple heavy fellas in the boat... I went from a 40hp4stroke to a 50hp4stroke and gained 4-5mph... My top speed is about 35mph in a small chop... 16 foot aluminum... Casting decks and all... The tiller arm on the Yamaha is pimpin... Love the troll control... Trim placement... Shifter... Key placement... Everything.., BTW to get the same features on a merc it's about a $500 tiller upgrade package... Yamaha it's standard.... So is electric trim with Yamaha... We purchased through Clayton marine in NY state... Very positive experience...

Saturday eve/ night walleye report, no pictures
mike rousseau replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Ahhhhh.... That sucks... I like braid for my walleye trolling... Feel way more.... You can even feel them nosing your cranks while trolling 150 feet back... You can also feel a weed the size of a blade of grass with the braid... Try 10lb power pro with a 36" leader of 20lb mono or flourocarbon sometime... You won't be disappointed... And it'll hold up... Landed a 50" musky Friday morning while trolling for walleye with this set up... -

I know Mike... But for some reason nobody else will buy a NY license... I have mine... And I'm no steelheader nor do I plan on doing it much... Realistically 1-2 spring trips and 1-2 fall trips at most a year.... So Ill be a greenhorn for a long time learning by myself... If I can convince one if my trout buddies to go I would go without hesitation... -
Well I'm finally giving steelhead another go.... I've been 3-4 times ever and only landed one... And oddly enough that one was caught casting small cranks of all things... This time I have a friend from work taking me and showing me the ropes... 90% of his fishing is for steelhead... So I feel that I'll be in good hands... He's explained shooting patterns for different water condition... He's supplied me with chinook and brown eggs... But with anything "new" I could use some more confidence.... So I'm looking for any general tips you'd have for a rookie... I'll be fishing eastern tribs... So if anyone has any current advice based on conditions that would be appreciated as well... Roe bag size... Color... Jigs... Flies... Etc...By PM of course... We are fishing Saturday.... Maybe I'll see some of you on the rivers as well... BUT PLEASE... IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIFIC ADVICE OR INFORMATION... GO TO A PM PLEASE... Not a "steelheader" but I understand the pressure put on this fishery.... Thanks Mike

What's you favorite cold weather gloves...
mike rousseau replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
One hand on the tiller and one on the rod.... I considered a muff with hot paws... And just take 5 minutes every 30 minutes to warm my hands back up.., -
Great report... Those mink sure can catch minnows / fish... We have a tank for minnows... Sometimes we put our fish in there at night to clean in the morning... One night the minks (saw the footprints) wrestled out 3 walleye from 3-5 pounds...

Hello all... I'm looking for a great pair of cold weather gloves... Waterproof is a must... And the need to be fairly warm... Biggest factor is being able to perform regular fishing tasks... What I mean is hold a rod comfortably... All day... Be able to push buttons on my sonar... Use pliers to remove hooks from fish... Etc... In all honesty function is #1... If I can't fish with then they are of little use to me... Waterproof #2... I would like to be able to handle fish with my gloves on when it's really cold... Also handling rain when its barely above 0 degrees... Warmth #3... Obviously they need to be warm... But not so big and bulky that I can't do anything... A nice balance... AND NO MITT SUGGESTIONS PLEASE... I know the are warmer and so on... But my hands cramp up trying to hold my rod trolling and jigging with mitts... I use mitts whenever possible but not for rod in hand fishing where "feel" is everything... I did just get some under armour primer gloves... But they were a bit small... So the insulation was compressed and therefore didn't perform as well as they could.... They are 100% waterproof.... I mean I put my hand in the river to test them and they stayed bone dry waterproof... They look nice... Well built... So as of now I'm leaning towards another pair of primer gloves (my brother is buying the pair I have at full price... He has little girly hands...) in an XL instead of the L I had... I've heard ice armour glove are also good... But I was concerned with function... They look kinda bulky... Anyways... I'd love to hear what you have to say... Thanks...

Supposed to turn to a north wind.... Wich is a cross wind in adolphus reach... If it is north tomorrow it won't be bad... Calling for 20km.... That's just a walleye chop... I'm checking the weather all day today and making the call tonight.... -
Cold Weather Gear / Clothing Recommendations
mike rousseau replied to T-Bone's topic in General Discussion
Wool is good... But there is something to be said for overall performance instead of just warmth... I own mittens (wool/leather) that are the cats meow in regards to warmth and comfort... But I'm not able to function with them on so they aren't good for certain applications... ... -
