  1. Only problem is honest people make honest mistakes sometimes.... So nailing them with a $25,000 fine might be a bit much... If they're caught with 100 bass out of season then ya... But poaching is a big catagory with many different infractions.... I got a fine because I made a mistake where the FMZ border was... There were 3 bridges on a river and I thought the border was the third bridge upriver and it turns out it was the first bridge... Most would say I was poaching... I wouldn't think what I did warrants a $25,000 fine... No fish in my well and literally cast our lines in and the MNR pulled up behind us... We were targeting walleye and they were open in FMZ 20 but not FMZ 18... We were in a river that feeds into FMZ 20 from FMZ 18...
  2. Lovin the snowsuit... My 4 year old loves ice fishing... It's the only thing we can do with him where he never gets upset and cries... He likes being in the "cabin" (my pop up hut) He is the official perch releaser guy He is also the official timbit distribution manager
  3. That's right... Like anything it's as expensive as you want it to be My buddy's gear he brings has to be over $5,000... Minimum Or you can go with a can of corn and sit on a rock... Whatever suits you... My gear allows me to do more and fish better... Without getting into the high end euro gear... So it was worth the inicial cost for me...
  4. I don't know about staying on a "budget" Other then not needing a boat carp fishing can be very expensive if you get into the euro style... I carry around $1200 in gear when carp fishing... That's just gear for me... And my stuff is mostly low end carp gear... Yes you can get some on a hook and worm with an ugly stick... But euro carping is the cats meow
  5. I do agree they should have a BPS.ca tho
  6. Cabelas bought SIR (I believe that was the name) in Canada... They took over for that company that was already established in Canada... (As far as I know) So with Cabelaa it was more of an acquisition of an established company... business model... Etc... vs a growth into a new country like BPS...
  7. Just a thought... If I understand right your goal is to cast further... Right? I'm not sure why unless your a shore fisherman... Also... It's hard to sink those hooks if your casting 200 feet out there... That all being said... check out carp gear... I can cast over 250 feet with my carp rods... And regularily cast rigs that weigh 3-8 oz... That's with 50lb braid and a 100lb leader around 30-40 feet long... Most carp rods are 12-13' long but there are some new rods that are shorter... I think Nash tackle made a line up called "dwarf" rods... Also plenty or reel options out there as carp fisherman almost exclusively use spinning gear... Big carp tackle Carp kit Are both great shops
  8. That's interesting because it's limited quantity.... For example... Shipping a gallon pail of lighter fluid would be classified dangerous goods... But I can ship 20 cases of lighters full if lighter fluid and they are no longer considered dangerous goods...
  9. Because they are based out of the states....
  10. It's been a beautiful winter... But the ice coverage (at least here) this year is more then I've seen in a while...
  11. It will definitely be a late spring... And yes it will effect fishing... The st lawrence seaway won't open till the end of March this year... I can't remember the last time I couldn't get the boat in the river in March... But I doubt I'll be able to this year... Just have to adapt a bit... Had one of my best years last year but I made a lot of changes....
  12. Had my fair share of musky chew on my hands... Only had 1 hook ever go past the barb... Luckily it was my finger and was right through... Scariest near miss was last summer with Pete and Andrew... Doing 30 mph and I noticed a flat spot in the middle of a big patch of ripples... Missed it by a few feet... It was a log over 8 feet long and 18"+ diameter...
  13. Never tried bucktail jigs... They look great Roy....
  14. 8' heavy... You can get a at croix mojo musky rod in that price range... That'll troll or cast just fine... As for a reel... Most of the round reels out there can get by... The red Abu 7000 reels are pretty cool but a bit bulky... They're around $200... If anything id go cheaper on the rod to try and free up funds for a better reel... You can get a good used rod for around $100... Musky rods seam to last forever...
  15. One of my go to baits... Dad bought me one years ago and it had earned a spot in my limited tackle I use for musky...
  16. Fair for both parties then... If you talk him down any you'll be getting a good deal...
  17. My cousins boat it pretty well the perfect boat for me... Lund pro guide 18' with 90 tiller and power steering... Might even be a bit big... A 17 with 75 would be better for me I don't like big boats....
  18. I sold a 2001 honda 40hp 4stroke tiller 3 years ago (so it was the same age as the one your looking at) I got $3,000 for it... The link isn't working for me so I can't comment on this particular motor or the price...
  19. Those baits are rediculous!!!!!
  20. I'm guessing an inline musky bucktail...
  21. Legend plow... $79.99 Snagged on rocks and broke off... Luckily it freed itself and floated up...
  22. Id probably take a TDD11 30 foot taildancer in clown... I'd give up ice fishing to have the open water results of this lure... I get loads of walleye on these... A fair amount of accidental musky... Plenty of smallies... The only trip I do is quinte and they work there... Great day or night color.... And I get walleye from opening day till ice up trolling these...
  23. She got a new van... And we are doing a family ice fish on Saturday... And after the kids are asleep order some munchies and try to find a good movie...
