  1. thats weird... i dont remember you being that understanding last year when we got in from that crazy storm on Lake O...lol... remember the one? when the launch looked like rapids from the run off...lol i remember steam fizzing out your ears... and then.... just as we go to hop our soaking wet tushies in the car... MNR fish check and sampling.....we looked like 3 drowned rats... shivering in august... but you didnt go off on anyone... ill give you that...lol
  2. yeaeh... right now your fishing for one bite at a time... your goal is that single bite... then if you get it... worry about the next bite... and so on... but in a month... you wanna set the BUFFET for em... you'll wanna have multiple fish feeding at all times... and LOTS of bait going in steady all day....
  3. awesome... i cant wait till my little fella can hold a rod and fish with me... i think hes gunna go for his first boat ride this week sometime... great report thanks
  4. "i'd never eat perch caught downriver of the domtar paper mill in cornwall.... too much pollution in those perch..." :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: do people not realize that most of ontario's moving water eventually flows through the st.lawrence... all the factories and pollution on all the great lakes and tribs all make it this way... and some people think the paper mill is the deal breaker...lol oh well... no fish fry for you...lol
  5. Yup... Canned corn... Only 1-2 kernels... Keep it small early... Also had some runs on a trimmed down boilie... And one of the rods we were using method mix... The other just had the corn... And we put no freebies out....
  6. rollie and helens musky shop sells them... i had an old one.... never caught on it... and boy o tried...
  7. well... in previous years the earliest ive ever caught a carp has been April 2nd... this year a new friend landed one on March 15th... and i was happy to be his net man... it was small... but sometimes the small ones mean more then the big ones... then i got a posse together and headed out on the 18th... we had 4 runs and landed 3 of them... so each of us landed a March carp that day and one of my new found friends got his first ever carp and biggest fish ever.... i love being able to help people do that... then me and a buddy got out today... and man was it hot... we were sprawled out in our chairs with our shirts off just BAKING in the sun... skin got a BIT pink today...lol today we had 6 runs in 2 different spots and landed 3... all small but still fun in march... only one pic from today because they were so small but my friend wanted a pic of his new smallest carp ever...lol mike
  8. i find the more expensive st.croixs are the most brital... my brother and dad have each broke a st.croix legend tournament "slop and frog" rod... flipping walleye in the boat... this is one of the heaviest rods in their line up... but my premiers and avid can flip em no problem... same style rod... 7 foot heavy action...
  9. I love the "fish o mania" shows... I find it interesting... And carp fishing is getting really big in north America... So there is an audience that wants to watch... It's like watching old superbowl classics... But for carpers...lol Hundreds of guys travel form all over the world to fish carp on the st.lawrence river...
  10. I buddy got a sinker in the eye after his freinds hook pulled while netting a big salmon... He's blind in that eye now... I remember this everytime I'm netting a fish... I make sure the rod isn't loaded directly above or behind me...
  11. Yup... This one... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fishing-Rods/Spinning-Rods|/pc/104793480/c/104764680/sc/104836680/St-Croix-Legend-Tournamentreg-Walleye-Spinning-Rods/1304110.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-fishing-rods-spinning-rods%2Fst-croix%2F_%2FN-1102841%2B1000004747%2FNe-1000004747%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104836680%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104764680%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104793480%3Bcat104764680%3Bcat104836680
  12. This one is dark blue... I believe the legend "extreme" is the more green / aqua color and more $$$ blank... I think the levels for st croix go Triumph Mojo Premier Avid Legend tournament Legend extreme
  13. Ouch... Somehow I've never had a hook make it in to the barb... Just some cuts and pokes... Ouch...
  14. I love my st croix premier 6'6" med action rod... And only around $120 My brother has a st croix lenend tournament and that is a beauty rod... Crazy sensative and light... Not sure about $$$ on that one... Over $200 I think...
  15. paul... i normally leave the tailgate down on the truck... then its not too bad of a step from the bow to the tailgate... then sit down and slide off to your feet... and if the back of the truck is in the water... you can climb over the wall of the truck onto the tire and then down... not sure how good you are at hoping and climbing but thats what works for me...
  16. I think it's brutal... Every show I've seen them do is the same... Spawning smallies...
  17. Depends what you wanna get out of it... I put a 25 on a small 14 footer... It boogied... But I almost flipped it because it was too much power when there wasn't a passenger in the front... Do you fish alone most of the time... 2 in the boat... 3 in the boat...? You can always run half throttle on a bigger motor... Then you have the power if you need it... The 15 wouldn't give you that option...
  18. Cutie... Put your salmon in front of her and they might look big...lol
  19. cant believe there are no clean launches for a real boat down there... i have multiple launches to choose from here... good for them for getting out...i was out on the 17th and it was a tough bite...
  20. Lol Last year I had a carp on that I thought was a money winner in a bet ( first to catch a 30lb carp that year gets $20) I had with a buddy...Fish got snagged up... So I waded out in the water (in may!!!)up to my neck in my regular cloths and shoes to free up my catch... Got it free and headed back to shore to net the fish... Boy was I upset when it was only 24lbs... : (
  21. This is the "confusing" part... Does this mean if my limit is 4 I can have 4 in the well...catch another and make a switch? Or does this mean I can only have 3 in the well and catch another and make a switch...? The way it reads to me is if your in possession of a limit... You can't fish any more...
  22. How about culling fish? I like small walleye for eating... But I have a hard time getting small ones... So the first 4 (my limit) reasonable fish I get go in the live well... Then I swap em for smaller fish as the day goes on... As long as they are very lively and healthy...
