  1. Well I'm glad this thread was up tonight... Cause I'm P'd off... Lost my wallets last weekend... I replaced everything already but my out of state NY license... I was just in NY state tonight at the Walmart I bought my license... They are supposed to be able to give me a replacement... Waited 20 minutes for the sporting goods worker to get back from break... She gets back... Punches in my info... And tells me I don't currently have a license... What the heck???? I said I bought it here last fall ... And she was the one that served me that day.... She said I must have bought it in sept for the season ending the end of sept... I know 100% that I bought it there after sept... So I'd have it till the end of sept 2012... Now I'm flipping because I know she screwed something up and she's blaming it on me saying I must be mistaken... So I'm gunna dig up my credit card statement to see when it was purchased.... And talk to the manager at the Walmart... Maybe they will just give me a new license...because I don't wanna pay the $70 again... That would be $140 for 1 year license....
  2. swim means a specific spot you like to fish... when most of the info you read or see comes from the uk you pick up some of the phrases and slang...lol
  3. cool... we have been getting the 5-15 pounders so far this season... im hoping to get something over 25lb soon... a lot of my swims are starting to hold carp now... well done...nice video...
  4. yeah... a lot of people around here blamed zebra muscle for the perch fishery taking a nose dive... but then they closed the season during the spawn...and set a limit... and they made a bit of a comeback...not like it was...but better then where it was heading... bananas to think it was ok to for a pack of boats to keep as many perch as they wanted whenever they wanted... everyone just thought there were so many fish it didnt matter how many they kept... that was just the mindset...
  5. it seems like the zebra muscles have started to balances themselves out a bit here... what i mean by that is 15 years ago it was hard to find a rock that didnt have zebra muscles all over it.... but since the water has cleared up so much... i dont think they have as much food and muscle populations are dropping... at least here anyways.... but it seems just as the muscles started to balance out and species adapt... then heres the goby... boy was that a game changer... smallmouth fishing changed drastically in about 3-5 years.... our old patterns and spots that would produce 20-30 smallies a day....now we might get 4-5 doing the same milk run... but those who have adapted for the smallies(im not one of them....) have done amazing and a record breaking tournament bags wave been weighed in in my area... hopefully we dont have to deal with any more unwanted guests in the near future...
  6. do you think there are less fish...? or just harder to catch em? i noticed they seem to stay below 50 feet most days up there now... ive heard they used to hold a lot higher in the water column... like most fish were above the 50 foot mark...
  7. i just tie it on the spool like normal... then put a piece of electrical tape over the loop you just formed around the spool... then fill her up with some tension on the line... always works for me... never slips...
  8. i miss some aspects of the old ways... but do you think those conditions made you get less fish per year? or just force you to catch them in different ways/areas?
  9. I've seen a lot of people complain about how clear the water is because of the zebra muscles...and how they have destroyed fisheries because they disturbed the food chain...or the fish are "spooky" because they can see you now...and so on... my question to you is.... on the water bodies you fish that have been cleared up by zebra muscles... is the fishing better...worse.... or the same as it was before...? on the st.lawrence river...in my opinion the bass...musky...and walleye fishing is as good as its ever been...and thats going back 3 generations fishing the same spots... but i do miss the giant weedbeds that came right to the surface...they were so thick you couldnt drive a boat through them... you had to know where the side channels were... now they are kinda thinned out and started growing a bit deeper in the water...
  10. I can do that with the roller bunks on my trailer... Well almost... I can launch in about a foot of water....
  11. Not sure... But my 5.4 liter F-150 hardly knows its back there... I know guys that tow similar boats with 6 cyl cars no problem....
  12. Yup... Fits 3 no problem.... Unless everyone is 300lbs... Perks of a tiller... Lots of room...
  13. livewell is beside my electronic controlls on the back left...third pic on the left you can see the livewell cover...under my sonar head unit...i think you have a baitwell there by the looks of it... mine is 36 inch well there instead... and where your big well is i have storage... max hp is 45 for my boat... and yes... my front deck is pretty small... but i prefer that and my extra floor space... some days i wish the deck was bigger... but most days im happy with what i got...
  14. dead give away... they almost never mention the item in the email... its a generice email that says "item" instead of bike or boat...etc... they play a numbers game... the more emails they send the better chance they hit someone that is willing... so they copy and paste the same email to a ton of ads....
  15. whats the ballpark cost for a job like this... pm me if you dont want to make it public... but i think a lot would like to know the cost of fixing up older used boats..
  16. your boat basically looks the exact same as mine...just a few small differences... but overall really close...(for anyone trying to find a boat like this) but i was lucky...this is the condition i bought mine in... mines a 1997 lund explorer 1600 looks identicle to me... great report....
  17. Keep in this in mind skip... People catch fish all winter... So water temps can be important in some situations...but there are always active fish somewhere....
  18. I know a guy that does very well jigging reaper tail jigs for early pike... Really really slow...
  19. those are some angry looking clouds... nice work
  20. The longest my boat went without hitting the water this winter was 3-4 weeks...
  21. ill try the fuel line...because it should probably be changed either way...but when i cut the fuel line to install the new primer ball... the inside of the hose looked like new... and ive been running seafoam in every tank since October...2-3 trips out a week till christmas... then at least once a month this winter... so its seen some seafoam to say the least... im also having an off and on problem with my needle valve getting blocked in my carbs... i really think they need a good cleaning... but ill try new gas lines and see what happens... and this tank has 4-5 gallons of fresh super and half a can of seafoam...
  22. changed the primer ball and the fuel filter...both the old ones seemed fine tho.. took it for a rip... my top end issues seem to be gone... however... :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: now im having issues at idle...running super rough... but not all the time... just sometimes...then sometimes it idles fine for a while... then gets rougher and rougher... i think im gunna just have to bite the bullet and get my carbs cleaned by a pro... thanks for all the help...
  23. oh ok... ill check it out then... thanks again
