  1. I don't want to move them b/c I wen through the trouble of cutting hard plastic plates(underneath and on top) and bolting them into a gunwale that is littered with enough holes as it is! I will move the new rodholders up about a foot or more, or I might even try one at the transom and use it as a "down the shoot" set up with either lead or copper! Thanks
  2. That is what I figured. Actually, I think I will move them up even further in the direction of the bow. Thoughts?
  3. Great series, great team... Congrats Hawks!!
  4. Thanks, man.. problem is, the riggers are already mounted! The other holder have not been mounted yet. Given that I don't intend to change the riggers' position, where should I mount them? Thanks!
  5. I am planning to mount two rod holders adjacent to my manual cannon riggers. I plan on using them for different applications such as second rods off the riggers attached with stacker release or copper or lead rods for trolling without riggers. How close should I get to the rigger and would I be better off placing it closer to the transom on the other side of what you see in my picture (it's not yet actually mounted)? Any other suggestions would be most appreciated!
  6. Went camping at Bon Echo - love that park! Fish did not cooperate however we only fished a few hours late Sat afternoon. I'm not familiar with the lake but heard the narrows are good. We tried for Pike and Walleye then switched to a lake trout troll. Nadda bite! I wonder if the front that came through has something to do with it. Oh well! I will be camping there 2 more times this summer.
  7. Where can you buy them? I suppose any marine dealer?
  8. You mean the cavator should be positioned at or below the bottom of the transom ?
  9. Is 2 or 3" ok? more, less? Thanks..
  10. Forgot the plug... realized it when I was in 100' of water in good ol lake Ontario! Boat was filling with water and a scary rate!! LMAO
  11. Hey gang, So I am about to install a kicker bracket I just bought. As I understand it, the water line should be just above the cavator (sp). Is this correct? Thanks!
  12. 1982 70 hp evinrude 1979 4 hp Johnny
  13. Anyone use these things? Sierra brand.. Are they necessary? I just bought some Stabil ethanol treatment so I am wondering if the water separator is required still. Thanks
  14. There was a lot more heavy industry at the turn of the century in toronto than now... back in the day, they dumped all kinds of crap without any consideration for the env. impact.
  15. Thanks John!
  16. Absolutely! How much do you want for it? Where are you? Doesn't it have to be specific to your exact model? For example, a model with power trim/tilt vs one w/o? Thanks!
  17. Picked up boat and ran like a champ on big lake o! I am satisfied with the service overall.. He went through everything with me and even showed me the "bad" parts. They are professional, that I will give them. they also checked and adjusted things that I did not mention.. small items, but nevertheless, they were done. So, I feel better about it now and I am sure that the motor is going to work wonderfully for me from now on. He said the compression was excellent, among other things. there's a bunch of stuff on the invoice "report" and I will dig it up and post anyhting I have questions about. Thanks folks for all the input!
  18. Just looked at Cliff's Seafoam link. Wow, looks great! Maybe I should invest in the stuff? I want to take some preventative measures. Question is which product(s) to go with? There a re several. The first one on the site looks like the gas additive. Any thoughts?
  19. Cliff, should I get it a Cdn Tire? In your opinion, what "preventitive" measure can I take (other than the Seaform). For example, should I use synthetic oil, premium gas, etc... Also, I have changed the lower unit oil, the plugs and usually the fuel filter , too, every year on previously owned motors. These are the only things I have done without the assistance of a mechanic! Anything else? Thanks!!
  20. Toronto has 7 "Blue Flag" Beaches.. Look it up. Lake Ontario is fine to swim in.. save for a few spots after a rainfall... then again Huron, erie and even Geo Bay have restrictions after rainfalls in some spots..
  21. well said!
  22. I am not knocking the mechanic... I realize he's probably making pittance... It's the owner of the business that is "ripping" me off...
  23. Where did you take the course? thanks
