  1. It is a real hard knot.. stead hands and patience... hard to due if it's raw and bumpy while out on the water... Power Pro has it on there site...
  2. Forgot to ask - are wire leaders necessary due to the pike? I hate using them... and if we jig you cant anyway.. Anyway around pike teeth up there?
  3. thanks for the input, fellas... might try minnows too
  4. Hey folks: Heading up on Thursday to the Gowganda area (Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge). Seems like it's going to rain a fair bit.. Temps have cooled too... Fall is here! What would be your go-to baits/lures given these temps/conditions up there? We will target SM bass, walleye and pike. I am thinking tube jigs, regular jigs, and Rapalas (diving or surface) in various colours.. Probably try some spinners too... Thoughts? Any particular success in those lakes with a favourite lure? Thanks!
  5. Apparently new ownership since 2011.. hope its still good.. The boats supposdly have motors and gas awaiting you... Looking forward to pass on a report thanks lew
  6. For an overnight close to T.O. I'd say Honey Harbour/Port Severn Region For the best pike fishing (PERIOD) Toronto Islands!! I've seen more trophy pike there than anywhere else in Ontario! Rent a room downtown!
  7. Great post.. thanks.. I saw some of that info on each lake on their site. I am assuming you've fished this lodge? Given that we only have a few days, which of the other lakes (other than Lost) would you target for quality? We rather getting into fish rather than search for lunkers.. Walleye would be good, but not necessarily the only species we'd target.. I am assuming that the smaller lakes would be accessed day time only and save the eve. walleye fishing to main lake Thanks again..
  8. Hey folks, I am heading up to Lost Lake Lodge in about a week with a few friends and family.. We are Staying only 3 nights b/c of time constraints/work.. Anyhow, we hope to get in some grouse and bunny hunting, too, while there (logging roads should be good..) Has anyone fished this lodge before? If anyone knows the area, what should we expect? I hear the SM bass is good but we hope to get into walleye and pike too.. Apparently there are even some trout lakes in this chain (we have access to 7 or 8 lakes I believe) I'm assuming the usual tactics of jigging and live bait will work? Any other tips would be most appreciated! I hope to post a quality report upon our return... Cheers!
  9. Bet ya that fish would taste great . . .
  10. You know I was just looking at the rainfall stats from June to Sept 7. We have actually have had ABOVE normal rainfall in the GTA.. not sure about other parts of S. Ont but I am assuming if it rained heavily in the GTA that it probably rained in other parts of S. Ont. For instance, Markham received 100+mm of rain last week! we got another 30 overnight...there were some major rainfalls in July too... I think over 300 mm (15 inches) has fallen on the region over the past 3.5 months, hardly a drought... I guess lack of snowfall has been a big contributor...
  11. thanks... rocks real nice too...
  12. Hi folks, I'm heading up to Algonquin tomorrow for 3 nights with family friends.. Since some kids are coming along, we would like to try wetting a line along one of the corridor lakes. I would appreciate some recommendations for good spots for smallies or other species (smallmouth since they seem to be most common there). I have fished Two Rivers, which is where we will be camping, but are there other good spots that can be fished from shore? Even creeks or rivers? I'm bringing my canoe as well, so will get out there on my own but given that there are 3 kids, it'll be a challenge to fish from the canoe with kids. Also, we will try our luck at wildlife viewing.. Any recommendable trails to try? Maybe bogs were we can spot moose.. I know the highway is good for moose viewing. Thanks in advance..
  13. Definitely a bizarre year... makes you wonder if this is a trend..
  14. I got in touch with the Wilson Lake people. Turns out they have an email! It was kind of buried in the website... Anyhow, they are away so they have to get back to me about details... the owner was emailing from Mexico. Seems that it is a quite a bit cheaper than Herridge.. I just can't seem o find any info on the lake and whether it is any good to fish for walleye... anyhow, I've narrowed the selection down to about 5 places! Hope to make a decision soon...
  15. looks amazing but too far for a 4 day trip coming from T.O.
  16. Not closed off to the idea... it's just that I know that a few guys love pics.. how's the pike? Send me the info, I'd appreciate it...don't forget I love bush chickens so a logging road should be close by in an ideal world!
  17. I've just gotten so used to emailing/texting etc for just about everything, that phone calls have become a nuissance!!! lol! Glad you got electricity now!!
  18. Thanks anyway! Is it true that Temagami can be tough to fish, especially if you don't have a guide or are unfamiliar with it? Might be to big of a lake to tackle for first-timers...
  19. This place doesn't even have an email... I am not going to bother to make a long distance call when everyone else will respond to email.. I have heard that Temagami is not that great to fish... it's hit n miss.. and big and challenging
  20. Emailed Wilson's yesterday and no reply yet... I guess us city folk are used to quick replies! Maybe they shut down... come to think of it, a few places haven't gotten back to me... Still searching and still eager to hear more recommendations to your fav spots! Thanks!!
  21. For sure!! I am thinking it might be less pressured therefore better fishing... Does it have walleye too? I am going to shoot them an email.. Thanks Cody
  22. Anyone familiar with this area and lodge? http://www.gowbushkon.com/index.php/directions-location.html Thanks...
  23. Where are these places, fellas? Same area? I'm getting confused!!
  24. Do you need to hit those back lakes they advertise or are the walleye (and other species) abundant in the main lake (Herridge)? It gets pricey once you add trips to the back lakes... you have to go with guides... Thanks!
  25. Send me a PM of email me at [email protected] Pics and more info (rates) would be good... who owns the cottage?
