Probably well known on here, but for those who don't, please read below and I hope you sign the petition. Let's keep ALL Crown Land accessibile for ALL to enjoy. Thanks very much Legisitave Assembly of Ontario: Have MNR give equal acess to all lakes : We call on you to protect our lands and lakes equally for all people. OntORA supports a variety of access restrictions and road closures for selected areas of public land and special wilderness areas where it can be proven scientifically that human presence has a significant and permanent detrimental effect on the environment. All parks should contain areas of remote wilderness for walk-in and canoe adventure. There should also be areas for other levels of ability such as interior car parks and areas accessible only by off road vehicles (ORV). However, this public land should be protected equally for all people – not reserved for special access by tourist outfitters and their select clientele. OntORA www.ontora.ca believes that all public land should be enjoyed by all Canadians, regardless of income, social status, or political affiliation. Currently, most of the people in Ontario are being restricted from accessing thousands of pristine lakes on Crown land due to the MNR’s unnecessary road closures. Many of our members are avid Ontario fishing, hunting, and camping enthusiasts. As such, on many occasions they enjoy hiking and canoeing into wilderness areas. On other occasions they might also enjoy riding an ATV or driving their camper trailer into a remote lake to do some fishing with their grandchildren. http://www.avaaz.org/en/petition/Legisitave_Assembly_of_Ontario_Have_MNR_give_equal_acess_to_all_lakes_We_call_on_you_to_protect_our_lands_and_lakes_equa/?tUzDWib

Oh, the rink is just junking that "beautiful" neighbourhood all up. All those too big houses, built 3 feet from each other, no lawns, hardly any trees even, such a friggin' eye sore even at the best of times. Bulldozing the whole lot of them would be the best idea anyone ever had.

Man I sure was. We went there last summer and from my perspective it was a complete waste of gas. Have always ordered from Cabela's via mail and have always been more than satisfied, but the store was a huge let down. Won't be back.

And Sail and LeBaron beats BPS.

I wonder if those 300 pound guys will turn out to be 160 pounders if they ever catch them. Perhaps the extra bulk was tackle and clothing stuffed under their over-sized coats.

So my assumption was right by the looks of the above post. Thanks for the replies

Just saw a video online where a person was using a stringer to keep fish alive, poked through the underside of the jaw, but when a better fish was caught, he culled a smaller fish from the stringer, releasing it back into the lake. I did a quick search in the Regs for this, came up empty, but was always under the impression that once on the stringer, they weren't to be released. Not sure why I have this idea in my head, but was wondering if anyone knew about this. Not trying to start anything, just curious for my own knowledge as I use a stringer.... when I catch fish that is. Thanks

Wow, just wow to some of these comments. Did you all watch the video? Did you see the age of the kids? Did you see where the rink is, on what type of street? I would be shocked of more than 1 puck a day ends up going over the boards. Lighten up a little, go outside, take a deep breath and relax and have a Merry Christmas.

The REAL reason the neighbours wanted the rink down is to get rid of all those hab sweaters polluting the neighbourhood.

Once you rip all your music fro the CDs to mp3 format, download Plex Media Server. It's free, install it on your computer. Assuming you have wireless in your home, Plex will sync to your TV if you have a Smart one. Plex is for music, movies, pictures etc. Anything on your computer, you will be able to listen to and view on your TV as long as the computer is on and in the case of a laptop, open. It's an amazing program that creates the additional folders (genre, artists, playlists etc) automatically for you and draws additional info from the web, such as info about a movie. I have been using it for a little over a month and it has allowed me to get extra use out of my TV without having to go out and buy. I rip from a CD, or in the case of a movie, download it from a torrent site, and Plex does the rest and I can watch it free of charge.

Things people don't know about the highway traffic act
big guy replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm, knew all of them and often drive in the middle of the road, even when cars are coming at me. Nothing like a good game of chicken, women always move first. -
Thanks for the replies. Yes, plugs are changed regularly, I take care of the engine, winterize it, change the lower end oil, plugs, only run high test in it, Stabil in every tank etc. The plugged pilot jet sounds interesting, I will endeavour to look that up on the Net to see how to fix it.

I have a '94 25 hp Merc, has been a great engine and still is for the most part. However, the last couple of seasons it has run poorly at low idle, used to troll really well, but I use my Minn Kota exclusively now as it runs so poorly at low rpm. At high rpm and running full out, it runs like a dream, pushes the boat 27 mph with just me in it, never hesitates, no issues. At about a 1/4 throttle and lower, especially lowest, trying to troll with it, it sounds like it's missing, will kick a little to the port side pretty much constantly, very annoying. Last year I had it in and the guy took it a part and changed the gaskets, it ran well after that for about 3 trips and it started all over again. Was wondering if anyone had an idea what might be wrong with it, as I was thinking of tackling it over the winter myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hahaha, exactly x 2

I have a question about this though. This must be seen through our eyes, but what about the eyes of a fish, how do they see the various colours? I would be surprised if fish have the same eyes as humans, pickerel can see well in low light conditions, humans can't. If their eyes are different, has this study taken place using their eyes? Is that even possible? In addition to this, does a fish see red as red, like we do, or is it something different to them? Does anyone know?

If it was me, I would take a look under the truck to see if anything looks out of the ordinary, anything has been tampered with, cut, or recently attached. I find it extremely odd that any branch of the government would go to that length to make sure any vehicle was safe, especially on a house call. I could see them contacting you to bring it in to a center, but to arrive at your house is not something you see, ever. Something could very easily be fishy about the guy and you should be very cautious about it in my opinion.

You know why people don't start threads about the habs, or senaturds, or any of the "teams" out west? Because no one cares about them, no one.

Take the signs down ESSA TWNSP. Enough already.

It's somewhat similar here in the great City of Kawartha Lakes. Many of the boat launches, if you can call them that, are subject to a $6 fee for launching and parking for the day. Now I usually don't mind paying a bit to launch, but the launches aren't private property, we already pay our taxes, so I'm not paying again to launch at these locations, Canal and Mitchell Lake have these signs. They don't do anything with the money to improve the launches, they're just simple, poor gravel ones and parking lots full of potholes, it's just another hand in our pocket. -
I sent you a PM with a couple of quick questions. Thanks

Speechless Thanks for posting all that

It's not a small market. The location is right beside the 400 highway, which arguably has the highest volume of traffic heading to cottage country and more northern regions of the province for fishing and hunting than any other highway, every single weekend. The traffic even on Sunday was crazy going right by the store. Yes Bass Pro is built more in the Toronto area than Cabela's, but on the very same highway.
-
Well it's hard to visualize how big 70,000 square feet is, it sounds huge, which I guess it is. However, I just looked up how large the Bass Pro is, 140,000, so twice as big. If Cabela's wants to compete, they are going to have to do better and bigger than that. Incidently, the Sail stores are also 70,000 sq. ft. and the fishing department blows Cabela's out of the water. No comparison.
-
Sail in Oshawa is my new fishing headquarters when I am going to travel and shop. LeBaron still a close second. Don't see the draw for Bass Pro, prices just aren't good enough.
-
Took a trip over to Barrie yesterday to check out the new Cabela's. Not going to mince words, I wasn't impressed. Much smaller than I was anticipating, as a fisherman, extremely disappointed in the fishing section, bargain cave had hardly anything in it. I won't be going back, waste of time.

Was in Vaughan on Saturday, making the rounds, went to Sail mostly, bought some stuff including a Flambeau tackle box I wanted to use for jigs and rigs. First time I bought a box from a maker other than Plano, should have known better. Got it home, it basically isn't strong enough, so have to take it back. Anyway, emailed Sail last night to ask if I had to return it to the Vaughan store, or could I return it to the Oshawa location as I actually live closer to it. Received a phone call from a kind, young man who works at the Vaughan store to tell me that I can return it to Oshawa if I wish. Very nice to be able to save some gas and very pleased that they took the time to phone instead of a return email. Well done Sail
