Thanks for the reply. We will heading up Saturday, returning the following Saturday, so hopefully we can have some success. What campsite did you stay at? We have #55 booked, the last one in the Browns Bay camping area.

I suggest you tread lightly Lol

If you're trailer lights are exposed in any way, say the side marker lights that stick out to the side, I put a couple of layers of duct tape on the backside of them, part facing your tow vehicle, to protect them from flying stones and stop them from getting cracked/broken.

Nice pictures and a couple of pretty decent pike there. Me and my two sons, brother and brother-in-law are heading up next weekend for a week. I haven't been to Wakami in 18 years, but have fished other areas up that way as well and have always had good luck catching pike at least, love the country, quiet and seclusion. We are planning to fish a couple of other lakes between Wakami and Wenebegon while we're there, so am curious which lakes you fished besides Wakami, or did you just explore? Where does that road in your second pic lead to? One thing about up there is that you don't need to stay in the park. Lots of places to park and camp for free and use it as a central base and then fish a myriad of lakes in the area, a different one every day if you want. It's nice to have a lakefront site in Wakami and have your boat in the water all the time, but it's not necessary to pay the park fees in order to have a place to stay.

Canadian Tire has the same policy, plus you get an additional 10% off the incorrect sticker price. Got a good deal on a pair of show shoes that way this past winter. Shoes had the wrong sticker on them as they came up more expensive when scanned into the cash. Manager lady was called, she came and verified that the shoes had a lower price on them than what they should have had and then told the cashier to discount a further 10%. I asked her what she was doing and she said company policy, if its wrong, they take the sticker price and the refund. I said, thank you very much.

I just picked up the 6930 model, used it for the first time yesterday, I love it already. Have always bought Shimano spinning reels, but they are not the quality of the Pfleuger, more ball bearings, very smooth, braid ready spool lip and lighter compared to my other reels and most importantly, less expensive.

I just ordered a bunch from Cabelas, 8 or 9 of them, in the shad and crank shapes. They also make them in minnow and countdown. Anyway, Cabelas had them all in stock, got my shipment in 1 week, great service again. Haven't used them yet, but can't wait, sometime this week

Kashagawigamog Lake has walleye and muskie, Kushog has pike. It`s connected to St. Nora Lake, so I imagine they are in there also.
-
Yep, smallies and lakers and still the odd brookie around, my buddy caught a dandy several springs ago up in the fast water below the Nunikani dam. Nunikani Lake above Big Hawk for bass and lakers and a few smaller lakes off of it for brookies if you have a canoe. Good trolling lake, trolling the shorelines will produce bass, you will have to get deeper for the trout, but vertical jigging will work if you can slow your drift.

My apologies then, I obviously read your post the wrong way, or it could have been my many reminders to my kids to get ready for school.

Oh yes, the white one Misfish is talking about, perch, fire tiger, they are all good, but the best one I have personally used is the crawdad, followed by the white one
-
Crawdad, it looks likes a crayfish
-
Is this post an intended shot at purchasing a Big O? If so, have you ever tried one? They are by Cotton Cordell, who make quality lures. The big O crawdad has caught me countless bass, many walleye and even a couple of Muskie.
-
Big O crawdad, damn killer lure and quite cheap

I hit Radio World today and picked up the Lowrance Elite-5 Gold. On sale for $380, $429 with the Gold chip, figure I saved close to $400 if the two were bought separately at regular price... so I am happy. Thanks to all who replied.
-
Looks like a nice graph, but it's out of my price range
-
Heading down to TO tomorrow, Bass Pro, then Radioworld as they have some units on sale, then LeBaron if necessary as I have a members card and can save 15%.
-
Top end would be $500-$600, but that would be stretching it. I kind of like the Lowrance 4X model, but have yet to see one in operation at a store to see if the screen, while split between finder and plotter are going to be big to read easily, without wearing my damn reading glasses. It is quite a bit cheaper as well. I'm not really looking to getting into all the bells and whistles of imaging etc.
-
I'm in the market for a new graph and want to buy a combo fishfinder/chartplotter. I've been doing some research and am leaning toward Lowrance, I currently have a Humminbird 717, so realize that the holes I have already drilled would match if I bought another "bird". However, I also like the Garmins, but have less knowledge of their mapping software, mainly is their detail the same, better or worse than the mapping software the other two offer. I know I am going to get a lot of comments saying buy this one or the other, what I am mainly interested in is people's experience with the mapping software for each brand. - how much coverage do they have? - what is the detail like? 1 foot contours, 5 foot, 10 foot, or does it vary and if so, what % is 1 foot? - and generally how have the graphs you use stood up to the elements, ease of installation etc? The one thing I don't like about my 717 is the flimsiness of the base, rotation piece. It has been broken for some time now and I always found it extremely difficult to disconnect the head from the base so I could store it away, probably why it broke. Also, will the units accept Topo map software either internally, or through an SD card? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

ya, I downloaded it yesterday and my wife put the navionics on her iPhone. It's ok, but kind of disapointed with the level of contours other than Sturgeon. not really worth more than the $15
-
It seems to be a compatibility issue. We have an iPad 4 and on their website, the app is only listed as working on iPad 3
-
Nope, that doesn't seem to be the case, all apps are showing when I search for other things. When I try to link from the navionics page link, I get a broken link Text at the top of the page. Perhaps I will give it a couple of days to see if the fix it
-
I went to the Navionics site and app store to download the $15 app and all that is listed is the HD version for $55. Is this the same product as the cheaper version, only in HD? And why can I not find the $15 version to download? Thanks

Shadow Lake Kawarthas/Haliburton (Norland) Advice
big guy replied to saspirilli's topic in General Discussion
Shadow Lake is included with a group of other lakes near the bottom under the heading "Kawartha Gems" http://www.kawarthaanglers.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=49
