The only problem with running a sled all out is there is no room for error or reaction time. Friend of mine got killed last March on Couch on his sled. Was running full out and hit an object jutting out from the ice. I used to trail ride a lot on the HCSA trails and we never ran more than 60kph on the ice even though our machines could do 120 ( yeah, yeah, I'm dating myself )

It all evens out. Think of how many trips to the chiro you won't make because you are lugging a 5# instead of a 20# tank.

There used to always be icefishing and skating on Grenadier's, and you could also skate on the duck ponds. Of course, that was back in the 70's, before every mother's son was looking for the flimsiest excuse to start a lawsuit.

Good start for 2010 is to get out on local ice and not find a white stripe. Got out this afternoon on a fave pond with some good friends with mixed results. As is so typical when icefishing, 2 holes produced all the action. Son and I were the lucky ones this time. A very light bite on pinners and small salties but still managed enough for dinner. We still found a lot of spots with very skinny ice. We backed off real quick. Be safe and have the necessary safety gear at the ready.
