  1. Best guesstimate my vet friend gave, was that she was 5 when I adopted her. I'm also lucky in my vet. A real country vet with down to earth common sense. (Will also barter services for fillets on occasion.
  2. My Lucky came from the Hamilton shelter. Emaciated, distressed and abused, we took to each other the moment we set eyes on each other. When I first took her out of the cage she literally clung to me. Being some 15 years old now, I'd have to say we were both kinda lucky. All any dog wants, like any other orphan, is a chance to be loved.
  3. Sounds like a very successful outing. Too bad about the outfitter. Too bad about the other parties on the lake, Nothing like having a spot to yourself. You certainly made up for any of the drawbacks.
  4. The perfect technique http://www.youtube.ca/watch?v=rQhfknFrlA0&feature=related
  5. That's all I need . More people stopping by to see what's for supper
  6. I got coaxed into having another kick at the can tonight. I just can't turn down such temptations.
  7. I lived in TO for 20 years and I know there is good fishing to be found. Just have to do the legwork.
  8. Corporate citizens fund the election campaigns that get politicians elected. No politician is going to cut his financial throat by making big corporations, and their executives, financially and criminally liable for all their misdeeds. Nor are they going to impose the best interests of public safety if it means loss of profit. There is not a single federal MP with any true leadership ability. In fact Canadians are afraid of real leaders like the Churchills, Kennedys, Roosevelts, etc... All we elect are backroom puppets totally devoid of character.
  9. Who worries about the weather when the bite is on. You can thaw out later
  10. They don't go far when feeding 4. Them 2 dogs are real porkers when it comes to eating fish
  11. Couldn't you tell from the self portrait in my avatar?
  12. Got out for 4 hours with the son this evening to experiment with some jigs we've been making. What a blast. In addition to a few OOS visitors, the crappie were on fire. We be havin dee beeg feast tomorrow.
  13. These folks are running an ad on Webers. Just got it in the paper. I've had only good experience with the brand. http://www.suncountryleisure.com/
  14. Definitely no joy, Sunday. Fish all over but no takers. There was bait swimming everywhere in the water column.
  15. Nannu nannu?

  17. Another tacky 70's show from the deep recesses of my mind. How about this? Oooh, Oooh! http://www.youtube.ca/watch?v=k4o-mHuoeiM&feature=related
  18. I See my local Co's every year out on the water. They are good people with a difficult job to do. OF course I'm spending a lot of time talking with them at the present.
  19. Well done Jacques. Trial and error til you find what works. Even with only one in the box, I'm sure it was worth the adventure.
  20. In the past I rarely brought the dogs along fishing. It was easier, and there was usually somebody home. With the daughter gone, the son home part time, and the wife frequently in hospital, it would be wrong to leave my girls cooped up in the house. I wished I had done so a lot earlier. I have as much fun watching Peanut's fishing antics as i have catching fish. She is a character.
  21. Thanks for the compliment ( although the Mrs claims I smell like an old shoe most days ) Fishing through my eyes is about the day, not the score card. Mind you a lot of fish does make it fun, but who wants to see 20-30 cat, bass or perch pics. A few representations are all I need.
  22. It takes a lot more effort going back and forth with the gear, but is well worth the reward.
  23. Another picture perfect day , joined by Rockfish and my fish theiving dogs for some fresh air fish and some rays. A few kitties Here's my "rare Finnish carp retriever" hard at work A perfect end to the day.
  24. Welcome! It's a great place to hide when you can't get out fishing.
  25. Yup, her and Lucky are still plopping out sand castles
