Hey everyone. I haven't had a tune up done on my outboard since last year. I stored it in the garage all winter and didnt winterize it. ( its a heated garage so it wouldn't freeze) Now its starting to give me a little trouble, It fires up after a couple pulls, idles rough as heck, to the point that if I dont give it throttle right when I get it to fire up it will stall.... but runs GREAT at top speed. Last year I could fire it up with one pull and troll at 2 mph no problem ! I looked on the net for tune up suggestions, but I would like to know what is making it idle rough ??? and what I can do to fix the problem ! Thanks

I dont understand how an invisible line determines weather or not you can fish for a particular fish.. Is the bass population any worse in michigan then it is here?? due to fishing during spawn ????

Hey everyone !!! I just registered for my first Bass tournament... I signed up for the July 17 BFL event on the Detroit river !! I signed as a co-angler seeing as I dont have a boat ! haha Any one have any tips from experience ? Im pretty excited to try this new venture out, I have been thinking about it for a long time, but always thought I needed a boat, or to know someone with a boat. It should be a fun time and a great learning experience !!!

Pay closer attention to the post. TWO reels for $100 Im not new to this game...I know these reels arent Curados or Abu premieres..... But for $50 a pop.... why not ? I had a "plastic toy" Abu Black max(bottom of the barrel Bait caster from Abu $20 on ebay )... I just sold it to a buddy and that reel had been put through more crap then anything and still worked GREAT !!!! Thanks for your input though !!

I learned my lesson a few years ago.... Started fishing at around 10 AM with no shirt on... it was the first actuall hot day of summer. I was outside till just before dark !!! I couldnt wear a shirt for 2 days... couldn't work... If I got goosebumps, It was agony ! hahaha My entire back was covered in blisters. It was NOT fun !!!!

Thanks guys !!! After reading the reviews I think I will jump on these reels.... Hell, if I dont like them, I could always sell them for what I bought them for !

Hey everyone I just got a lead on a couple Shimano Cruxis 200 reels.... One is brand new never been used the other has been casted a few times ( According to the seller) I can get both for $100 , just wondering if thats a good deal or not ??? Anyone ever use these reels ??? Thanks !

I dont get why these things are gettin so much attention all of a sudden ???? Ive seen literally 10 posts from this site and others regarding this fish in the last 4 days !!!!!!! The video is bogus.... its pretty easy to starv a fish in a tank so when you feed it, it just goes nuts. Bite a fish in half ???? he ripped the TAIL off.... It didnt look like anything more then what a northern or musky would do !!! I dunno... I think alot of people are over reacting !!!

I live in Chatham and have seen them a couple times here. Then one night we did a late night Casino trip to Windsor and on the way home on the 401 I saw them ! Its pretty sweet !

Ive always been told you want the rod in your dominate hand. I guess because you want to be able to control the rod to get a better action with your bait ?????? Im a lefty and I reel with my right hand.

Hey Mike... good haul of stuff there !! About the Trokar hooks, I dont know if you read the post over on "tackletour" but they didnt get a good review AT ALL !!! I guess they are having issues with the hooks bending and breaking ! One guy said he has broken everyone of his hooks that he had. 2/0,3/0,4/0.....I guess Trokar is aware of the issue and are trying to resolve it ! They are a nice hook... but I think I will save my $$$$ and stick to the Gamis for now !!! At least till the trokar issues are worked out !

haha My local Tackle shop is almost the same way. They arent really that stuck up, or rude... but Im a younger guy and when I walk in there.... someone watches me LIKE A HAWK.... i cant just cruise the fishing section without being stared at the whole time ! They think im going to steal something ???? come on ! Also... Im in the market for a couple new combos.... one in particular I had in mmind was a Citica paired with a 7ft MH (prefferably shimano rod ) I walked in teh store saturday and low and behold... they have the EXACT combo im looking for ( I forgot to mention he has reels on the shelf from the 90's... brand new... asking list for... REALLY ??? ) He has the Convergence priced at $79.99...No big deal, I was told you can pick them up for $70 at some places..... now the reel... Brand new citica... $184.99 !!!!!!!!! INSANE !!!! So I asked if I could have the reel to try in on the rod and man it felt like an extension of my arm... light, small, PERFECT !!! I asked if he price matched and he said " Well if your talkin about Cabelas or BPS then no we dont " I said I can pick the rod up for $70 and the Reel for $129..... he laughed and said the best he could do was 10% off...... Really ???? I handed him the reel back and put the rod away and walked out.

it must have been the taxes that they were collecting at the door ! Like I said, it was always delivered to my grandparents... and they would just tell me they had to pay X amount of dollars at the door. 20 hours eh ????? thats some fast service !

Hey everyone I am in the market for a couple new combos. I have $500+/- to spend on 3 combos. Im budgeting roughly $100-$150 each for the reels. I've narrowed it down to these 3... The Abu Revo S for $129 The Shimano Citica for $129 ...ORRR.....The Abu ORRA SX (????) for $99 My question is ... Has any one used or seen or heard of any one that has used the new Abu ORRA SX ??? They have come out with a braking system similar to Shimano and I was wondering if there was any feed back ? BPS doesnt sell them by the looks of it, so I couldnt read any reviews on them. Thanks for any help !

Ive used them a few times and everything was great.... package arrives WAY TO QUICK hahah if thats even possible.... but seriously.... I would use the normal shipping ( cheapest ) and it was at my door 2-3 days later.... which is pretty good ! The only down side is I had to pay duty EVERY order. But... they had all the stuff I want usually in stock ! Plus they will have deals on sometimes for free t shirts, hats... etc.... Im still rockin the T.W shirt and hat. hahah

caught My PB bass on a Junior spro frog ! I found them to be better then scum frogs. They seemed to move through the slop a bit better. Ill keep using spros until something bad happens... then I will switch haha

I have an oportunity to Upgrage my flippin stick... I local guide is getting rid of some equipment and has a 7ft Heavy fast action Convergence for $45 bucks. Ill inspect the condition when I come to pick it up... but a friend of mine bought a whack load of rods off this particular guide and they were mint ! Just wondering if that is a good deal É Thanks !

I bought a 14.5 foot Springbok last year. I bought the boat motor and trailer for $1000 then dropped approx $1000 into it. My grandpa and I totally tore the bought down to the bare aluminum. I used Tal-strip II and took all the paint off. once we got to that point. I used a product from down south. The name is not coming to me at the moment. But its used on air boats, it basicly seaps into all the rivets and seams on the boat and seals it completely. Then it turns rock hard and protects your aluminum from rocks and sand etc. Once we finished that she was flipped over and put back on the trailer. I replaced the transom with maple and water sealed it with 3 coats. I then turned my focus on turning my boat into a bass fishing machine ! haha well not quite a machine... but it did the job VERY WELL !!!!! We built flooring for the middle and front of the boat. The front was raised higher for a "semi" casting deck, I didnt want to go to high above the water line to try and keep the center of gravity down . I used 2x2's for the bracing and 3/4" ply for the flooring. I tried 1/2 inch, but I must be a fat ass cause there was alot of flex to it. The 3/4 was sturdy as ever ! Once the floors had been cut and put together... we sealed them, then covered them in that indoor/outdoor carpet they sell for around pools n such at Home Depot. Also, I replaced all the wood on top of the benches with 1/2" ply then sealed and carpeted them as well !! Both floors can be removed for cleaning or for whatever reason ! We then mounted the bow mount trolling motor and fish finder and it did the Job GREAT !!! Now my suggestions to you.... Dont waste time on the outside of the boat to much.... focus on gettin it set up to fish out of, if your on a budget. Paint, Stripper, tools, supplies, etc... will eat up your budget pretty quick ! Take care of the leaks, if there are any. But dont waste to much time... fix what you can and if it still leaks a bit... Its a TINNY... what do you expect ! I would put the casting deck in and maybe a floor in the middle for your partner to fish on... but other then that.... have fun with it and dont drop to much money into it !If you have any questions or anything, just shoot me a PM !!!!!

Thanks for the advice ! I went and picked up a set of muffs last night. So I am going to try that tonight. I will also try and blow through the hose ! I figured that maybe a spider had gotten up in there or something. I cant remember 100% but im almost positive that I had the impeller changed this time last year.

Hey everyone, Last night was the night to get the boat ready to go. I put the motor on, filled up the garbage can with water and tried to fire it up. Well after a few pulls it fired up but I noticed no water coming out ? I shut it off right away.... Now when I put it away last fall, the water pump was working fine. The motor sat in the Garage over the winter, its a heated garage ! Now I did drain the bottom end of the motor and it sat that way till last night when I put the fresh oil in. But I dont think that would have anything to do with the water pump would it ? The motor is a Mercury 18XD tiller. Thanks for any help !
