  1. Why are you betting on not real ???? Have you ever caught a 50# musky ? Do you know how big a 50 # musky looks like ??? JESUS ! Keep your 3 cents in your pocket ! Dont hate on the guy cause he caught a great fish ! Nice fish !
  2. Quicken is what I use.. they have a Home version.... Works REALLY well... tonnes of features and what not... Takes a little while to get used to it though hahah Also, you can download your online banking to it so it keeps a track of whats going on in your bank as well ! My gf and I, back in december started the whole FINACIAL planning thing. Its really helped alot to get on the right track with saving and things like that. when everything gets paid online its pretty easy to forget things or lose track of whats going on ! I read a few books and it was really helpful ! Pm if you have any ?? on Quicken stuff !
  3. WOW ! I guess the musky guys that "torpedo" the fish back in water better not bring that guy on board for a trip !
  4. I couldn't tell you the age, but the sizes up here are good. I've caught a few fish this summer that were 4lbs+ Its a good fishery untill the weed growth gets to much... If you have 150hp = pushing you you should be fine... but with my 18hp tiller.... Im limited to where I can go... Im ALWAYS cleaning weeds from the prop !
  5. Well, its been a busy end to the summer. I missed out on alot of things ! Our local bay went through a crazy year. A school of musky apparently followed a school of perch in the bay and then decided to hang around for a while. There were reports of monster fish being caught and lots of pics as well.(of fish caught by other people) They are posted on other sites,I would post but it would take a while and Im just lazy. A friend of mine caught a 37lbs fish, Ive heard of a 44lbs fish being caught as well... but that was a guy talking at the launch so I am VERY skeptical ! Like I said... there are pics of 50+ inch fish, and many of them. It is so crazy because musky haven't been caught in the bay for years... 20+ years ! The full moon was the time to hit them I guess, All the action happened in about a week span and then calmed back down. There are some smaller musky in there now, but Im not hearing reports of the big girls any more. I'm waiting for the full moon at the beginning of October... see if that stirs the pot a bit ! I finally got to get out on the water and have a shot a catching a few... but I guess I was late for the crazy action ..... We hit the water last Saturday for about 3 and a half hours. We went 2/3 and that was about it. Long afternoon of cleaning lines 75% of the time ! hahah Rondeau bay is not a bay for trolling ! My fish.... No weight or length... The markings are great on this fish ! Didn't take a shot of the second because she was pretty small... I would say around 30" .... And my buddy didn't deem it to deserve a photo ! I tried it again by myself the following day.... Must I say .... I love the luxury of trolling in a Ranger Z620 as opposed to my 14' tinny hahah But it will do. It was a tough day with the wind and weeds making trolling nearly impossible. I managed to get a bite white letting the lure out with the rod still in my hands. hahah That was a surprise to say the least. I looked behind the boat and saw some thrashing about 20 ft. back in the prop wash and I got stunned for a second.... once I came to and took the baot out of gear and tried to get ready to fight the fish.... I lost it ! and that was all for that day.... SKUNKED ! Other than the musky.... I have been able to hit the bay a couple times for bass, but nothing like early summer. Oh... and managed to get my first SKUNKING of the summer.... approx. 6hrs... NO FISH ! I managed to slip out for about an hour and a half one friday night...and managed to hook into this 4lbs 3oz I got on a junior spro frog. The color name, I cant think of, but white on the bottom, green on top ! Only Fish that night ! On one outing with a friend of mine... I was kind of guiding, I gave him a rod and we just kind of played close to shore in a few weed beds with wacky rigged senkos. We fished for about 4 hours and caught around 15-20 fish.... they were all around a pound, give or take.... I had a good one hit and break off .... I guess the whole re tieing rule comes to play when fishing for bass with very light line... 8# test. Other then that, its been a pretty slow and boring last few weeks.... only to get worse as the cold gets here. Work till 5... get dark at 7 30 NOW... Weekends are my only option. Im not really a hard water guy.... Ice isn't my thing! hahah Thanks for looking !
  6. ofncommunity.com skunked.ca basshaven.ca toytractorshow.com and a few others I cant post here hahah I check those daily usually !
  7. Welcome to the wonderful world of baitcasters. I'm about 2 years into them SERIOUSLY and still get bird nests once in a while.... I would say I get a good one probably once every 50 casts or so ? I found that my 50# braid is far easier to release then any mono or floro..... it seems I can find the point where its knotted up easier with braid. Try it out and see what happens. With it being your first Reel, trial and error are the best ways to learn.... that's what I did. Also, like the others have said... try throwing heavy baits first... to get the hang... then gradually go to lighter baits. Like GCD said, throw floating baits first if possible.... that's like salt in the wound.... bird nest, take a few minutes to get it figured out.... go to reel back... SNAG !!!! Good luck.... Once you get the hang, its tough to pick up a spinning reel again.... One more thing.... not to bash your reel, but I haven't seen the best reviews on that particular one myself.... It does catch my eye every time I see one though. When starting with baitcasters, pretty much everyone will tell you its worth going to a good solid reel the first time, rather then getting frustrated with a cheaper one and giving up. For your next time around... look at a Abu Revo S ($130) or a Shimano Citica($130-$150)..... Nice reels for the money !!! Have fun !
  8. Hey everyone I want to get a cheap handheld for tracking speeds when trolling and to mark some fishing spots. Whats a good cheap entry level unit for doing those things ? Ive looked around the BPS site and see that there isnt much to chose from in that price range but there are a couple. Any one using a cheaper garmin chime in on this and let me know your experiences please ! Thanks !
  9. This is hilarious ! Congrats Tony.... And Steve-o.... Take it like a man.... Better luck next year
  10. Yea the weight up front seems like a great idea, I will have to try that next time Im out. The screw to tighten the steering is tightened pretty snug.... like I cant turn it any more hahah I think it might be worn out or something.... the steering is rather tight though.... it will stay straight for about 45 seconds toa minute then it starts to get off course. I think the main part of my frustration was the area I was in.... its probably not the best to be trolling in due to the amount of weeds and what not.... but the big musky are in there right now and thats how they have been caught.... you have to work for them I guess .... Thanks for the tips !
  11. Hey everyone, Im new to the trolling game, and I tried it for the first time on sunday... I was by myself. I had alot of trouble controlling the boat... with cleaning lures and trying to battle the wind... it was more of a frustrating day then anything. I was wondering what you guys do when trolling by yourself to make things a little easier ? Oh and Im talking in a 14' tinny with a tiller motor !
  12. Another fix is to NOt be a woman... with the whole separate bottles and use trusty ole Head and Shoulders.... hahahahah
  13. hahah we solved the relish problem at an open house a few weeks ago..... We took the lid off and it seemed to come out fine..... just a light squeez and it was good to go !
  14. I cant help with a location.... but what type of fishing are you going to do for them ? I think fly fishing is the only way to TARGET them.... you might catch them by accident on other methods.... but on rondeau they are EVERYWHERE in the little back bays.... I've actually tapped one on the nose a few times... i was trying to point the fish out to my GF and since shes blind she didn't see it. I would say it was about 3 ft or so... Like I said, they are everywhere in the bay... neat fish But I was told that fly fishing is the best way to fish for them...not sure though. Good luck ! post pics if ya get into'em
  15. I hope your not directing that towards me.... I said it was great he helped ya out I also commented that $30 to launch a boat is ridiculous ! If you dont agree with me.....then I wish I had your bank account !
  16. Thats awsome he helped ya out !!! $30 to launch ???????????????? Holy crap ! I dont pay a thing if I launch at my usuall spot... but then I have to motor across the bay which takes about 10 mins in my boat.... or I could launch across the bay and pay $5 on one side of the marina.... or theres another launch right across the marina and I would pay $13 hahah The 2 launches are literally ACROSS from each other in the marina... ones 5 bucks and the other over double that ! The great thing is... on busy weekends... the more expensive launch in the one thats always backed up. I remember on weekend... there was probably 15 people waiting to launch.... we pulled around to the other side and dropped right in !
  17. Heres mine.... I built my deck out of 2x2 braces and 1/2" ply.... I tried the 3/8s and there was to much flex... In a 14' tinny. weight is always an issue. I dont know about you, but for me, I wanted to save as much weight as possible. I would suggest replacing the 2"deck boards.... just sounds like alot of un needed weight. We had my boat decked and carpeted in about a day..no tincluding the time it took for the water proof to seal on the wood. I have no concern on how many people can fit on the deck as far as weight is concerned... ive had a good amount of weight.... 450lbs and it was fine !!! Take a look ! Peice of 1" angle aluminum used for support. I dont have a GOOD pic of the finished deck but this will give you an idea. I used the indoor outdoor carpet from home depot thats used around pools and such. It has a rubber backing kind of that helps keep the water out. It has worked great and feels good on the feet when bare foot. They sell the compound for gluing it down as well. PM me if you have any questions
  18. That was awesome ! hahahah There has got to be more of them ! So funny !!!!! :thumbsup_anim:
  19. I must admit.... I was never a cat person ! I HATED them.... I was never mean to them... but I just never thought I would have one as a pet. Well, One cold november night, we had a customer drop off a combine at the shop here ... it was about an hour drive or so in the combine.... well when we opened the side sheilds... there was this little kitten on the chassis of the combine. I grabbed her up and she was the nicest cat I have ever seen ! I promptly brought her home... well I shouldnt say that... I took her for a ride with me to a customers before I went home... thats where she decided to poop in my truck ! But I understood.... she had been through alot. hahah Stopped at wally world and grabbed a litter box, food dish, shampoo, and some food on the way home. As soon as we got in, I tossed her in the litter box... she sniffed around and to this day, she has been the best pet EVER !!! Not one accident...un like a dog that probably would have crapped and pee'd all over the place by now. She did fall out of the window one night while we were sleeping.... oh ya, I live on the 4th floor of my apartment.... After looking for about 2 hours for her, I found her, she was good to go, just a little scared. hahahah If a dog were to fall that far, pretty sure I would be looking for a new pet. All in all.... I gotta say, I love MY cat.... don't know about any one elses ! haha Oh ya.... dont get mad at something for getting sick.... do people get tickets with you when you get a cold ???? Deal with it, its a living animal !
  20. Looks great Mike ! Glad to see you made it there and back safe and sound ! I bet Dad will be pumped when he sees it !
  21. ... uh oh.... do I smell a JINX... ?
  22. To tell ya the truth, I have no idea ! haha I've never looked at the package much, other than weight, and color haha
  23. I like the spinner baits alot... but the quality isnt there like in some others im told. Contantly tuning the baits.... but I guess that means Im catchin fish with them right ? paint chipping, blades breaking off ( ) just small things. Booyah was my "go to" company but I find myself looking else where now.
  24. No jig head in the tube.... I used a 2/0 worm hook to rig it weedless and I also used a straight shank worm hook, Im not sure the size because they were just ones I had in my box from last year hahah but I would say play with different sizes of hooks. Some tubes are a little fatter than others, so the hook that worked for one, might not work for the next ya know ??? Like I said, we caught our limit of fish in about 2 hours... then culled for the next hour or so( I love livewells !!!)... it was a great night !
