  1. Have you been to Bass Lake P.P.. It is within 1.5hrs or less from Oshawa, they have canoe rentals and a few places where you can cast from shore. The lake is relatively small and usually very calm, the bass are plentiful and sometimes you can find a bonus crappie. Other parks that you may want to look into are Sharbot Lake P.P., Silver Lake and Bon Echo, they are about 2.5/3hrs from Oshawa.
  2. Hey you did some photo editing...I was going to say that the other thing beside the dock in the original picture was mine. LOL
  3. " The sad news...nothing will be done..and it will get even worse." Hopefully not. It would seem as though they are addressing these concerns and are encouraging public input on Feb. 21st. Taken from www.newsdurhamregion.com Fisheries management plan to be rolled out Feb. 21 Conservation authority to unveil draft Nonquon River study Feb 13, 2007 PORT PERRY -- Those with an interest in Lake Scugog, and its inhabitants, are invited to attend an upcoming meeting at the Scugog Community Centre where conservation officials will unveil a draft of their long-awaited Nonquon River Fisheries Management Plan. Slated to be rolled out at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21, officials with the Kawartha Conservation Authority (KCA) will present a summary of the draft plan which was commissioned more than three years ago. The study examined the current state of fisheries in the Nonquon River watershed and included the fish community, physical habitat, water temperature and water quality conditions at more than 75 sites. Once finalized, the plan will make recommendations to ensure the fisheries is maintained at its optimum state, while balancing the needs of humans. The purpose of the public meeting will be to garner input to ensure that the plan incorporates the values of area residents, who are the primary users of the fisheries resource. When it's complete, the plan will be submitted to Township officials later this year. Encouraging a large turnout to the upcoming meeting is Heather Surette, an aquatic biologist with the KCA. "We really want to get your feedback, whether it's during the presentations, the question and answer period, or informally later in the evening. Survey forms will also be available at the session and on our web site," says Ms. Surette. In addition to the Nonquon River Fisheries Management Plan, short presentations on the Lake Scugog Environmental Management Plan and stewardship funding will be given. The Scugog Community Centre is located at 1655 Reach St. For more information, call Ms. Surette at 705-328-2271, extension 222, toll-free at 1-800-668-5722, or e-mail [email protected]. The KCA can be found at www.kawarthaconservation.com.
  4. Great report! I guess now your hunger is cured!?! lol
  5. The Weather Network is showing +8C next Sunday in Toronto. Hope they are right!
  6. "make sure the 4 hours, for showing up for my scheduled shift, is on my pay check" The law states 4hrs at minimum wage or 2hrs pay at your regular rate, which every works out to be more money. My company told everyone yesterday not to bother coming in today and we would still get 4hrs at our regular rate. It is usually cheaper for them to do it that way because....by the time they figure who isn't showing up and who is now going to which job site, the slow drive time to and from the sites (we get pay for travel time), the poor production because of the weather (we do outdoor construction)...it ends up costing them alot more. There is another big factor for them when the weather conditions are as is, (especially within Toronto), and that being the risk of an accident. With insurance premiums as high as they already are and the down time waiting for loss of equipment to be replaced/repaired the losses would be well into the thousands. No excuses needed on this end! Be safe!
  7. Hey egh, I can relate to that drive on Saturday. Drove out to Trenton in it around 12pm, (for my nephews 1st B-Day) stayed for a couple hrs. and headed back to T.O. around 5pm. Here are a couple pictures out the front window... A couple random shots...
  8. Apparently those guys on the snow machines broke thru moments before and tried to warn the guy!
  9. "its has pike and perch year round" I would assumed you answered your own question already! LOL Honestly I would say there should be no reason why they wouldn't be there this time of year. If you can locate the weeds or other structure that you are familiar with start there. See if you can jig up some perch, if so the pike will not be too far away. Try fishing weed line edges and deeper pockets with in the weeds for pike, try a big sucker minnow under a float. Good luck. p.s. Your signature picture exceeds the 500 by 75 pixel limit, dial-up killer.

  22. So here's the deal, I have a 12ft. fibreglass boat that I want to give away. It needs a good wash/paint and has a small crack that needs repair. (easy fix) I have no trailer for it, so you must have a way to transport it outta here. A pickup, full size van or roof racks would do. It weights less 100lbs and is great for small lakes with a trolling motor on the back. I live in Scarborough, Markham and 401 area. PM if you are interested.
