  1. dress in camo/ face paint this evening and go down for a couple casts, post the report here
  2. Wow, what a giant! I did a bit of reading too and I think with 40 it's safe to say it's speckzilla. Where the brookies in there before stocked or natural? I find it weird if they stocked splake into a lake with natural brook trout.
  3. Nice report! It's good to hear there's still a few hidden gems around.
  4. I know quite a few lakes in Haliburton that don't seem to have any panfish, perch or bass. They are smaller lakes though, but yeah, it's possible.
  5. The police don't really do much in that neck of the woods, I'd say post the video here as a long shot to get your canoe back
  6. I think it's a push, I'll buy if both you guys come out.
  7. Interesting story and good on you Rob. My son is only 14 months old but these lyrics from an old country song have popped into my head on a few occasions "promise me son not to do the things I've done, walk away from trouble if you can"
  8. I Am Canadian! Brought to you by Molson's Brewery Great post.
  9. Wanna bet who buys the minnows when we finally get out ice fishing Shayne?
  10. No, they didn't break it down at all, they just threw it out there. I found it surprising too, but it works out to about $42 per day and that seems plausible for an all in cost I guess.
  11. That's an awesome day! Just curious, are these chars stocked or naturals? You look a little like bushman version Morgan Rielly.
  12. My money is on a toast battery.
  13. A couple weeks ago on 680 news, they said in Canada the average, all in cost to parents, to raise one child from birth to 18 years of age is $275 000. I found that surprising.
  14. No pictures, it didn't happen First splash of the season is always special.
  15. Sweet Joey, ice fishing is great but it feels pretty good to be back in a boat again eh? I think the early season laker fishing will be better/ easier in 2 weeks, so very cool you nailed that big one.
  16. No, the leased lands (like for hunt camps on crown land) show up as private lands in this atlas. I think those are actually little crown land plots (general use) BETWEEN the cottages. This website is super handy.
  17. Nice start to the open water season Chris! Sounds like you had a fun week.
  18. I'm worried for my young son too. It's globalization and the erosion of the middle class. Yes sir! Sadly, their lack of empathy allows them to make smart business decisions. This seems to be true where I work. I enjoy giving managers like that as much grief as I tactfully can.
  19. That's fight'n words, your rebuttal Canuck?
  20. This stuff is great Dave but fudge, you're up in God's country, where's all the fish reports?
  21. I understand he's fed up with the trespassing, but I'd like to see the piece of paper saying he has a "kings deed" for the river bed. What about the Navigable Waters Act? I'm pretty sure if his dog hurts somebody, he'll be in trouble.
  22. Good to hear Mike, right on!
  23. Good report, great story Bri. Where is Lew?
  24. To afford these homes people take on massive debt. If interest rates go up a mere 2 points, there would be so many people that couldn't make their payments it would rock the real estate market and economy. Interesting, my financial planner guy here in Oakville said the people in the modest, older neighborhoods typically have a lot more net worth than the debt laden people in the ritzy, trendy neighborhoods.
  25. This comment rubbed me the wrong way. I'm surprised nobody else mentioned it. I don't have an answer Cliff. I'm comfortable and have lots of stuff, most of it crap, but I have no idea why I am so lucky when there's people that don't have enough to eat. I don't feel entitled, I feel grateful and fortunate. Hopefully the younger people will realize this as they mature.
